How do you plan on doing that in standalone since there is an emphasis on civilian weapons ? You gonna use that mosin to down a helo ? The ruger 1022 ? you going to use the double barreled shotgun ? That was all possible in dayz mod because it was just arma 2 with zombies.

This is from the new fans who have no frame of reference. These same new fans have no prior experience with Bohemia Interactive or any mil sim so they do not understand the satisfaction and depth they present. They want quick satisfaction and accessibility two things that will absolutely kill dayz. -

The focus on streamlining things in Stand Alone compared to the mod is what will kill dayz. Without simulation and thus depth Dayz is a crappy zombie game with no redeeming features or attributes. Without simulation it will not be able to compete or even be up to par with the dozens of zombie games that will surely come out during the same timespan. They simple do not have the budget or the talent to compete with a triple A developer. However if they go full on with sim aspects,simulation for sniping, shooting, medical, crafting , realistic accessories. If it goes for realism on all of these aspects dayz will be a triumph if it goes for mainstream appeal dayz will crash and burn. -
I don't even view it from the overpowered or underpowered stand point. I view choppers from a logical and realism stand point. There is not a chance in hell survivors would just simply be able to pilot and or maintain any chopper without having extensive previous experience. You want to know what happens when a person with no chopper experience gets in one and by a stroke of luck even manages to turn it on ? That happens. Helicopters just arent a realistic prospect not to mention all of the negatives they would bring to the game.

Even with the game having a million different diversions and things to do , dayz will always be about pvp. -
The really bad weapon mechanics are the same reason I stopped playing.

You sure the 100 was not what the weapon was elevation adjusted to ?

If they add helicopters then why not add tanks. I mean tanks require alot less training and maintenance to get up and running. Ideally neither would be in the game though.

This is correct the compensator just magically reduces the weapons cone of fire.

http://www.faa.gov/mechanics/become/basic/ Requirement to become a basic helicopter mechanic. This covers the ability to maintain a single type of airframe. Yet somehow in game people are proposing that regular people with no experience in piloting or maintenance are able to not only repair but fly a wide assortment of helicopters ? That makes little sense.

I am assuming the helicopter hate stems from the desire from alot of the community to have a more authentic, low tech dayz. More of a emphasis on civilian weapons, survival, and logical gameplay elements. Less of an emphasis on military aspects such as helicopters, military weapons and high tech gear. Everything in the game currently just screams post apocalyptic wasteland with gear that is low tech but works, the binoculars are of soviet design, the compass is old and of soviet design, the weapons are very basic and functional. The hghest tech thing in the game probably the LRS scope looks like a simple duplex hunting optic nothing tactical . Helicopters would not fit this, they would be jarring but not only that they present too many problems and the negatives far outweigh the positives when it comes to choppers.

Hopefully at one point of development zombie bodies and player bodies stay until the server restarts. Hopefully once optimization is throughout enough.

Quite surprised and happy to see so many people against helicopters. They are bad for gameplay, immersion and would be a problem and a bane on the game. Imagine when player bases are in the game a simple helicopter crash into them and the base is destroyed. Atleast with a car bomb the car has to survive the hail of gunfire and get close enough.

I am sure eventually they could stop that. It is all about setting up barriers to try to force people to play more fairly. Surely there will be some way to bypass acre but that too can be defeated eventually.

Here is some fun stuff about it. Basically different radios have different ranges and frequencies.

Another possible way to force people to use in game communications while still using teamspeak is to enforce and implement acre. If you have teamspeak running on your computer acre acknowledges it and takes over. In ace servers a script automatically kicks you if acre is not on.

Only reasonable solution to 3rd party communication apps is to mirror all in game chat from teamspeak in game. Even people will still be unhappy they will want to remain silent even though they are communicating with people and coordinating strategy.

Base building, base defense, raids. Thats the end game not silly helicopters.

It would be far easier than keeping a helicopter running. Trains are old tech.

So they released a statement saying that in the beta they will dump the unrealistic weapons and make them realistic. ?

Controls and functions for tanks are there already too, does that mean they should add tanks ?
