So, any word yet on when/if we will get realistic (not random) balistics?
gibonez replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
I just hope they realize the community dislikes the unrealistic qualities and wants simulation back in dayz -
Another bonus of a stamina system is the fact that it would balance LMGs and heavy weapons in the game. Weight would be important in what type of role as a player you want to do.
-
cool suggestion that is very much plausible and realistic.
-
Would be quite easy too. Break the entire map into very small grids and in each grid give it a unique number and letter. Then exclude any number and letter that contains a building and a body of water in it so you cannot spawn within a building but spawning right outside is completely fine. Then assign a random number generator that determines your spawn location. With such a system in place you would never spawn in the same place twice throughout your playing career.
-
I still think the game needs a completely randomized spawn system. Every time you spawn you get a completely new spawn. A procedural spawn system that could spawn you right next to the barracks in the north west or in the middle of nowhere and it is up to you to figure out where you are.

Only way sleep would work in a way that would not hurt game play is if they copied rust. 1 character per server When you log off your character stays in game and lays down and sleeps You must sleep in a safe location because people will rob or kill you when you sleep. Base building + rust sleeping + one character per server = dream dayz.

I see the casual console gamers are out in force.

That will never be fixed its a engine LOD problem.

Foregrips - What Should They Do And How Should They Do It?
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I have no problem with the stocks and the hand guard so long as they are purely cosmetic and have no bearing on weapon performance. That being said I would not lose sleep over the removal of the handguard and stock attachment on weapons seems like a complete and utter waste of time for the devs. -
I sadly would not take the risk. Really wish the game had a realistic wound system where shooting someone would give them realistic wounds. I rather close the distance incapacitate a person, bandage them and then rob them while they are passed out leaving them to heal up and rise from unconsciousness when I am long gone.

HACK: Able to make buildings see through and shoot from outside.

Well known exploit that I believe is fixed already. A 4th wall mod would fix this too. -
DayZ: Why Complexity Is A Good Thing
gibonez replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Words right out of my heart. I honestly hope the current implementation is just place holder and they do not continue with this unrealistic approach. Arma 2 and 3 are also not ultra realistic they are authentic however. Dayz has a golden opportunity to push realism and deliver a game that is rich with depth and challege a game people will cherish for years always challenging themselves and finding new experiences. A move towards unrealistic features would shit on this potential and more importantly Alienate the fans who made dayz what it is today, it would alienate the people who played the mod the first week it was out and who pushed the mod onto others. Sadly all signs point to Dayz Stand Alone being marketed towards a casual fanbase. - The unrealistic movement and sprint speed - Unrealistic inventory system that allows you to access your backpack and all your contents while sprinting full speed. - The insanely atrocious dispersion and unrealistic weapon attachment system. All blatant signs of a game where realism does not matter but more importantly a game who forgot its lineage and mil sim history. -
DayZ: Why Complexity Is A Good Thing

Dayz could be an ultra realistic sim and it will still be ultra successful, dayz is the one product that does not need to be accesible to sell. It has sold 2 million copies solely on word of mouth. -
I know. I was being sarcastic in my comment. I was just sarcastically suggesting that why not add tanks since helicopters a insanely complicated vehicle to fly and maintain is added. Both would be equally unrealistic additions for dayz.

ahah that graph is hilarious. My ideal complexity level for dayz would be ACE mod. ACE mod has a weight system stamina system and a realistic wound system . All of these things require a steep learning curve and thoughtful planning. However they are bundled with greater player control through features such as weapon resting, realistic sniping and greater inventory control so it balances out. -
The only thing helicopters do is destroy atmosphere. The starving civilian survivors somehow magically can fly modern helicopters with 0 training. The survivors who have makeshift backpacks made of sticks and burlap sacks who craft bows out of sticks and rope are somehow now flying in a brand new helicopter. Not only can they fly it but they know the helicopter in and out and are able to repair it let alone feed the beast the rare and hard to find fuel it requires. YES atmosphere.

One character per server would give you this.
-
If ultra lights and para gliders were the only air vehicles in the game I would be delighted.
-
Heck even paragliders would be found more often in the fictional world. Cost I am seeing online is anywhere from 500 dollars to 2700 dollars for a top of the line para glider. More importantly any idiot could fly a para glider , a helicopter absolutely not. An average person would go inside a helicopter and would spend days before he could even take off and would crash within minutes.
-
Hang Gliders unlike mi8s and mi17s are available for any civilian to buy so surely they would be in much higher numbers than any other air vehicle. Launch them from an elevated position not ment for long distance travel but for medium and short quick travel would be cool for a quick bug out off an elevated position.
-
Only flying vehicle I would be ok with.

Those syrian rebels have the luxury of having Saudi Arabia spending tons of money to procure and give them those high tech fancy rifles. Survivors in Chenarus wouldnt have that luxury especially once the world ends and the supply chain stops.
-
I can agree to that. That being said even those are relatively low tech in terms of military gear or high end tacticool gear. General theme so far when it comes to loot is low tech sensible civilian gear with some low tier mil gear. Nothing silly in the game like this yet.
-
Been playing breaking point huh ? thought I saw your name in the server list yesterday.

There is a fine line that can easily be crossed when you make things accessible. Accessibility and depth are polar opposites one has a easy learning curve and the other a steep one but ultimately one that is that much more rewarding and is able to last the test of time.
