Not sure if serious. The mod was 100x more realistic than stand alone. To go into your inventory you needed to stop, weapons reacted realistically. The running speed is closer to reality in the mod too. Stand alone has 15 mph sprint speeds, retarded strafing and is full of unrealistic features all over. Epoch is probably the most realistic of the 3 it actually has a weight and stamina system.

Disappointed not once did you mention how sexy it is compared to a akm. Gives me chub. -
Another first - did I just witness a zed kill itself?

jank -
Even those would be impractical in the game. Impractical just like helicopters would be.

Daam shameful that mods like epoch have far better stamina, weight and inventory systems than stand alone.

I like the idea of cetain inventory spots having the ability to quickly be accessed with items in more restrictive spots not being able to. Only weapons that should be able to quickly be grabbed should be weapons in a holster or that are slung over your shoulder. Weapons inside of backpacks, shirt pants, should all have an animation and should manually be taken out.

I find ammo to be far more plentiful in stand alone compared to the mod. As long as the 30-06 , 300 win mag and or .243 winchester or 260 winchester make some sort of hunting appearance I will be happy . -

I don't see how its lazy , it just seems logical. Weapons in common calibers tend to be far more widespread and popular than uncommon calibers therefore the likelihood of encountering such a weapon makes more sense. -
How tactful are you, and what tactics work in DayZ SA?
gibonez replied to comikz's topic in General Discussion
The only tactics that work in stand alone are luck. Shoot and pray the dispersion gods are on your side. Also pray that you are behind cover and exploiting 3pp before the enemy does. -
Anyone else think DayZ should switch engines?
gibonez replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The engine is fine the only other more suitable engine is the arma 3 engine. -

I guess this is a hint that we will not be seeing any obscure weapons in the future. Atleast in the near future. I am kinda glad they are going for a streamlined approach when it comes to ammo. Only makes sense they add firearms in the worlds most popular calibers. -
So i have come to the conclusion that dayz really is supposed to be PVP
gibonez replied to dtrain7055 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Thats what private servers are for. If some private server decides to fork over money for a role playing pve server then he has the freedom and power to do so. Meanwhile everyone else will pvp. -
As it should be. Medieval technology is downright crap compared to modern bullets and firearms.

Same logic can be applied to helicopters. This is why I dont get why people are so against tanks yet are perfectly fine with adding helicopters and other air vehicles.

So, any word yet on when/if we will get realistic (not random) balistics?
gibonez replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
It was just a simple idea on ways to simulate real player inaccuracy yet at the same time leaving the shooting up to player skill. Simulating trigger pull wouldnt be that bad the slight delay could easily be accounted for with practice. Not only that it would force some real life shooting fundementals into the game. Force people to maintain proper sight picture and target all the way from pushing the mouse button until the weapon completes its firing cycle. -
DayZ: Why Complexity Is A Good Thing
gibonez replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Sure part of the problem now is how inconsistent everything seems. Some aspects seem relatively realistic and authentic yet others like weapons and damage model are so insanely unrealistic and inconsistent that they counter anything realistic in the game. -
So, any word yet on when/if we will get realistic (not random) balistics?
gibonez replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Because standard issue usually means widely issued and thus far more likely to be encountered. Finding specialized mounts for a mosin and an sks to mount optics that would otherwise be impossible to mount just does not make sense to me. -

gibonez replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Sure anything can be done in real life, I can mount a pu scope on a m1911 if I chose to. However a pu scope for an sks was never standard military issue as far as I believe. -

I don't either it just annoys me but more importantly it sets a precedent for other more unrealistic weapon attachments to flourish in the future such as the pu scope on an sks. -

ACE was indeed perfect Wind + higher dispersion compared to arma 2 + weapon resting and bipod deployment = amazing gunfights that were so satisfying. -
With completely randomized spawning suicides will be slowed to a crawl. They would need to travel to find a suitable location to suicide from meanwhile now you usually know where you spawn and where you can suicide quickly.

gibonez replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
No I agree the mod was not completely realistic and it had its faults. However that being said the faults were within the health system not on how the weapons behaved. So the mod had 1 less variable that led to player frustration meanwhile stand alone has both the health system + the great random weapon dispersion to account for. -

Fine then make it realistic for the over 2+ million people who owned arma 2 and played the mod. Making the game accessible is not to their benefit its for the new players into the series the casual console gamer. -

I understand that perhaps they want to simulate a regular civilians inaccuracy with a weapon but the random dispersion is not the way. Why not use real life things to simulate that? Such as _ simulate trigger pull by adding a slight delay of 0.5 seconds or less before a gun fires after clicking the mouse. This would simulate trigger travel and different weapons could have different rates. Hunting rifles with crisp triggers shorter delays bullpups with bad triggers longer ones. _ simulate arm fatigue by making the longer you hold a gun in aim mode increase the amount of sway unless your weapon is rested or bipod deployed on a surface. Different stances have different arm fatigue. These two ideas would accomplish the same thing that dispersion tries to without punishing a players skill. All we want is real life accuracy for the weapons and weapon parts to be purely cosmetic or affect the handling.
