Sanity/rationale/crazy meter to encourage player interaction?
gibonez replied to BAMO4O's topic in Suggestions
Terrible idea that punishes certain playstyles. -

Thats why they need to remove the random dispersion system and adopt a realistic approach to sooting where if you miss its player error or the player exceeding the weapons maximum effective range not pure bad luck like it is now. Realistic shooting mechanics, sway, trigger pull , sight alignment + realistic dispersion = best solution. -
No "Specialized" Cartridges [Torchia Tweet]

I am the opposite I am really looking forward to a modern bolt action hutning rifle in .223/5.56. Good accuracy, no external magazine and readily available ammo makes for an amazing survival round. Good for just about every range from 10 feet to 800-1000 m if you really need to stretch it out its doable. -
If you cant read the book Go on netflix and watch the movie. It is an extremely depressing and realistic movie on what I would imagine a post apocalyptic would be like. I can hardly describe how depressing and hopeless the movie and books make you feel, this is the feeling a dayz wthout zombies could have conveyed on the player.

Good watch it now.

Is DayZ being developed right in your opinon?
gibonez replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Mil sim or sim they are both the same thing. Dayz cannot be considered a sim when the gameplay has people sprinting at 15 mph and has incorrect and often downright unrealistic weapons. Part of the problem is the sheer inconsistency in dayz. Some aspects are really well done and follow realism such as magazines and ammo being 2 different things. Yet we have things like a horrible casual streamlined inventory system where you can magically pick up things from the ground by press tab and then running near stuff. -
Yay a vest...............................

Absolutely. Arma 3 is so worth it. Even at 15 percent off stand alone is not. Atleast not yet.

How important should vehicles Be in the SA?
gibonez replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
yea helicopters would hurt the game so much. The game will evolve back to the same boring regiment that the mod did. Get helicopter, fly all over north looking for tents and cars. Capture them and the weapons then hide your helicopter too. Helicopters will do far more harm than good in the game. -
Still bs. Had I know that Dayz would be this garbage back when it first came out and that it would be cheaper today I would have easily held off and purchased it today.
-
If those servers ever come up thats is where I would play. Zombies really will never add anything for me. They will always just be a source of annoyance.
-
Isnt this rubbish, game is not even out yet and there is a sale. Whatever happened to the join in early and get it cheaper model........

I am not saying its unworthy of us to discuss. I am merely saying its probably unimportant to them at this time hence why they decided against it atleast for now. I just saw the msrp on the spectre scope you posted what a ripoff. -

Probably just keeping things simple or just leaving it for later. It seems pretty unimportant atleast for now. -

gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Because this would have ended up happening. The attachment system needs to move towards a more simpler more practical system instead of the more complex and goofy system that is in place now. -
go mod. Enjoy the various mods + give ACE mod a try. Standalone is not enjoyable at all atm. Unless you are a glutton for pain and enjoy broken stuff.

How important should vehicles Be in the SA?
gibonez replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
Vehicle should not be important at all. kinda stupid that having a vehicle is seen as a respectable end game in a survival game. So you got a vehicle so what ? why should such a stupid thing be the maximum you can achieve in the game. So great you got a car now you can travel at 30 mph instead of sprinting at 15 mph on foot. -
I'm constantly shocked they don't throw all development into vehicles
gibonez replied to huggalump's topic in Suggestions
Vehicles are the least important thing right now. The very fundamentals of the game are either broken or downright suck. Vehicles would do nothing to fix those so its unimportant. -
Suggestion: Decrease hit percentage => Lengthen the Rush + Reduce Artificiality
gibonez replied to cuddly_rabbit's topic in Suggestions
Yes mostly russian scopes. Most modern scopes have universal elevation adjustments so the scope can work on any weapon and caliber combination. Having a scope with dials that let you range it by increments of 100m would only work with one specific weapon and one specific caliber that fires out at a very specific muzzle velocity. I am not arguing to get rid of zeroing what I am saying is replace it with how it is done in real life. This not only makes sniping require more skill and practice but if mastered gives the player a higher skill potential. For example a remington 700 with a 20 moa base + a normal modern day target scope with 120 moa of elevation would allow a player to stretch out that rifle to maybe 1200m. -
Thats easily avoided by making the random spawns not be in the edges of the map.

I say no range tables at all. Force the community and players to make their own for each rifle and each scope combination. I want to see people print out range charts for their rifle like so. Then keep the sheet at the ready next to them while they play. -
Spawning in the wilderness is the best part of random spawns. you run in a random direction until you hit your first town or a road even when you find the town chances are you will still be lost this keeps the game fresh but more importantly it distributes the players all over the map.

Pretty much. When it comes to shooting and gun mechanics Dayz would benefit by mimicking real life as best as it can. The closer to reality it goes the better it will be. There is no reason why a player should be able to shoot a player at 1400m by simply going prone, then pressing page up 14 times. This essentially makes a 1400m shot just as easy as shooting someone at 10 feet.
