Big difference between this. and this
-
Ill play everything.
-
Should be out at the end of June apparently.
-
The only thing in this front that I would consider ok would be up armored cars and trucks. Basically installing metal plates on cars and trucks that slows them down but makes them resilient against most small arms with only a few able to penetrate inside. Tires are still vulnerable. Tanks and helis however god no.

He has said in the past that they are going to fix it. They haven't said how although I remember reading mention of a completely changed 3pp camera that is locked in and cannot be moved to be exploited.

How important should vehicles Be in the SA?
gibonez replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
That is because the mods core gameplay was better. The movement , shooting and gunplay was all 100x better in the mod. But yes even with that there helicopters hurt the gameplay. -
Yea epoch is a arma 3 mod now it has no zombies and has an even better base building system. Looks really good so far.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Imagine once base building is in. You encounter a base take a few pop shots and hide. Base launches helicopter and within 3 seconds in the air they can spot you due to the way the game renders at a distance. -
Then put a blur filter on all terrain or heck that cannot be visible. Being able to see terrain but not players in 3pp makes as much sense as rendering and seeing players even when prone and behind a 3 foot wall. The only difference now is that the game play benefits greatly from the magic floating eyeball not rendering players.
-
That would be absolutely perfect however Rocket has said he does not like that idea due to people popping in and out of existence. That could be fixed by changing the cameras position + incorporating the line of sight system.
-
True but any grievance whether it be a bug or a hacker or a rather restart is instantly blamed on a corrupt server admin. Most of the time the admin has no role to play in the victims strife.
-
Yup thats why the thread is about coming to a compromise and for the community to come up with ideas to have both sides of the camp meet in the middle and not alienate either side. This is the ideal solution because it would allow the community to not fragment and to essentially enjoy the same game and also because with out this problem persisting in 3pp mode they could turn hardcore mode into something truly different, not just dayz without 3pp like it is now. The solution is not outright removing 3pp but trying to find a way to negate or stop the ability to see through buildings and to see over and around cover.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?

Thats a problem with the rendering engine and the LOD system that is greatly exaggerated when in an aerial vehicle. Helicopters just make the problem more apparent or more obvious. -
How do you feel about a script that disables 3pp when you go prone or crouch ? some server have this in dayz and It appears to solve most of the most harmful ways the crutch is used such as stationary camping of high traffic areas while being fully safe behind cover. Cool whats in this 3rd server option ? What makes it different from the other two ?
-
Because this is not a thread discussing if it is a problem or not but instead ways the problem could be fixed. A community brainstorm of ideas to fix the problem.
-
You cannot possibly be suggesting that the developers intentionally designed the map so 3pp exploits would be facilitated
-
I think we are long past the stage where we as a community decides if it is a problem or not. Everyone can agree to some extent that this is indeed a pressing issue and indeed negatively affects gameplay. While not technically an exploit it is a crutch. Now we need to talk on how to fix it and fix it in a way that does not completely remove 3pp.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
gibonez replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Bound to happen sure but it would have taken a player on the ground a good eye and the sheer coincidence to be near the tent or stash. With a helicopter its as simple as flying over the map and seeing tents and stashes as clear as daylight. -
Yes a smart camera might be the best solution although it might be a little harder to program compared . A camera that when it detects a wall or geometry in front of you gets close in and lowers so you cannot see over cover. When you go prone it positions itself behind your feet and when you go crouch it focuses near the small of your back. One other solution that I have seen some servers use in the past is to remove 3pp when you crouch or go prone.
-
Pretty much. There is a very obvious problem here and this problem is very destructive to not only fair play but the pvp in the game. The simplest solution of course would be to outright remove 3pp across all servers and not even have it as an option. However this is not good as there will be a segment of the community that is alienated and not only that we would be depriving motion sick people a means to enjoy the game without hurling chunks all over their monitor. This is why we the community should try to find a solution that keeps 3pp as an option without causing as much damage to gameplay like the current 3pp model does.
-
Ignoring the crutches and exploits that 3pp have and how they negatively affect gameplay is the equivalent of having cancer but ignoring it.
-
The bug was for people going into walls. You will still be able to enter a building and see through walls and buildings . All aided by 3pp.
-
Cigarettes.
-
That would be ignoring the problem completely. The problem has to be addressed eventually.
-
3pp is not the problem. The problem is the way it can be used to exploit alot of the games failures. You can use it to easily see through buildings, see over cover and around cover. The effect it has on pvp is destructive.
