I've been playing for a few weeks now and a couple nights ago I started getting around 5 FPS instead of perfect gameplay (no idea what FPS I had but it was perfect on very high settings). Specs: i7 3770k 3.5ghz Asus z77 sabertooth mobo 16gb 1866mhz DDR3 ram 320gb SSD GTX 680 other cool shit I hardly think my system is the problem. I haven't changed drivers but perhaps had some Windows updates go off. Arma2 vanilla stuff runs fantastic, it's only DayZ. I did use the Six launcher to update recently and even just now to try and fix it. No dice. I tried rebooting as well. Unfortunately I don't remember when it started doing this but I think it was Friday 11 Aug 2012 during a rare single malt scotch and gaming binge. Any ideas? I've tried searching multiple forums and Google but all I can find are people with 4 year old laptops having FPS issues...

Anything over 75% is bad, at least in my world processing real-time audio for voice comms. What does your girlfriends CPU usage look like? I'm not familiar with AMD equivalents these days. When I play Arma2 my 3rd gen i7 hums along at a much, much lower %.

I had a similar problem where I went from flawless high graphics to like 5 and choppy. Other Arma stuff plays fine just DayZ. It was suggested to me to try more servers but I haven't got around to it yet.

Oh, I know it is in alpha. I was just looking to the community to see if I was F'ing something up. I agree it's just servers, seems logical -- just wanted to see if I had some weird new patch that was giving me bad juju. I'm a systems engineer at a software shop so I know how it goes (bane of my existence BTW). I tried 3 more servers after this post and all were FPS lagged. I'll try again tomorrow and update again. Side note: should it always take 5-10 minutes to load a server? That seems to be the norm for me. Or they never load. Ugh.

I've tried 3 or 4 servers. All the same. I just checked my Windows Updates and there was nothing this weekend. I'll try more servers...that's probably my issue. I'll update if/when that solves it.

I'm going to start putting tents in the middle of popular places and stare at them through a scope. Haha!

I found my first tent, was almost dead, pitched it, stuffed all my stuff in it and then died. I made it back to the tent an hour later on a server with 2-3 people but I couldn't take anything out of it. I was able to put stuff into it, though. The server crashed a bit later and when I came back the next day I was 30 minutes away from the tent spot and half dead. Is this normal?

I bought Arma 2 and OA a couple weeks ago and played for all of 1 hour before all of the servers quit showing up for me. The next day every time I started Arma native or using 6 launcher it would show an icon on my task bar then disappear but still have a task running this also killed my flash in all web browsers. Well between moving the beta EXE and unplugging my headset it finally magically started working. During all my downtime I took time to research the noob section here and watching the Survive series from DevilDogGaming (which was addicting by the way haha, it was almost like a good TV show, couldn't wait to see what happened next) so now I have some ideas about how to navigate, where to go, what to look for, etc. Finally, I'm in. Time to go find me some gear. Time to put my knowledge to the test. I post up on a +GMT server since I play in the evenings. I started exploring in prone and try to open all the doors I can find. I quickly figure out that most houses are not open to you. I also discover you can and will randomly break your bones. I found a tent so I crawl over to it, from grass to pavement and when I look in the ten blam, broken leg...can you booby trap tents? I was crawling through Elektro and found a ton of medical supplies luckily. Crawling around some more, I think a zombie with retard strength hit me and broke my leg again. Otherwise I just randomly broke my leg crawling around. I ended up getting mauled by a swarm of zombies again and die. I start again. I'm wandering around the town north of Elektro for about 20 mins and bam, all 15-20 users on the server are teleported to the cement dock. Wtf is this? We all run away, all the zombies are fired up and I eventually get sniped and die. I quit that server because I'm not into playing with cheaters or admins doing stupid stuff. I decide to play at night because I'm digging the sneaky cover of night by this time. All of a sudden a black ring of smoke appears out of nowhere and looks very, very out of place, I think it did something bad to me but I forget what. I backtrack and GTFO scared of more cheating. At this point I'm done for the night. This morning I decide to give it a whirl again. So I fire up the dayzmap.info or whatever site it is and start using roads, train tracks and the coast to figure out where the houses are I can get in. Bam, I hear flies. I find a survivor corpse with a compass, enfield, 3 clips and some medical stuff. I find a high yield house and stock up on even more ammo and whatnot. When I get home today I'm going to find me a supermarket and find me a map! Oh and one more thing. The axes in the chopping blocks are not usable, you have to find them laying on the ground..haha
