Editing my post cause it didn't come off as intended! Last time I rush writing a thread. The comments made me laugh though =P

I think this would cause issues, especially if people only have good ping on a select few servers and are playing with friends for example. Maybe the longer you stay alive your body becomes more hardened to the elements and you need food and water less often, are less likely to catch colds/fevers and have improved stamina (when stamina is added). Obviously there should be a limit on this - don't want it unrealistic so you can survive for weeks without water, but a slight increase in time before needing each of those may make you want to stay alive, as they will be reset to default when you die. In reply to OP I think this is a good idea, however if this were real and you were to die your items would benefit friends/other people that come across them so maybe, rather than removing ALL of the items, a percentage (say half) would disappear.

Both of these are great ideas which I hope will be considered for the standalone game =)

Thanks for the replies guys, I really like these ideas- I too hope they are implemented once the game becomes stand-alone.
-
Bump, any more thoughts? =)

This.. But only until the radio idea can be implemented (cause that sounds awesome)... this is just a temporary fix =)

First off man, I think the idea is great.. probably will need tweaking from dev's but pretty much everything gets tweaked anyway. Secondly, they could make this infection/virus have any number of symptoms since it is a new and unknown disease. You could get red dots over your screen, yellow, purple etc ... you could go blind in one eye... you could hallucinate... they could do whatever they want really ... which makes this idea even more awesome =)

No need to post this, its been posted hundreds of times already, and I think the development team are aware of the hacking without tons of people constantly posting it on the forums.. I'm sure they're doing the best they can about it, and you posting this is not gna make them go any faster.

I'm with this guy... it sounds like a good idea on paper, but it'd be quite boring staring at a black screen for a few minutes.. I guess it could work though, cause you could go get a drink or something irl.. I foresee a lot of spilt drinks though, as if you hear gunshots you'll be sprinting back to your comp with a full drink! haha

I don't agree with starting wit a hatchet but I DO think that you should be able to punch zombies - it won't cause any damage (or very VERY little at most) and has a SMALL chance of knocking it down, therefore players will still rather run away and use their fists in a last ditch attempt if they end up in a corner somewhere. Also a chance that a zombie can grab you whilst you are punching it would also deter the use of fists.

It's impossible to think out every scenario (that's what the alpha/beta testing is for! =P) but I can't see any problems that jump out at me. It would be mainly for reducing needless killing, and encouraging player co-operation.

Fair enough, could you give reasons why you're not a fan? =) I'm not saying they can smell you all the time, just when you have blood on you. To get blood on you, you either kill someone with melee (or at very close range with a gun) and when you loot dead players, I thought I said that in the initial post but no worries if I'm mistaken! You can wash it off using a water bottle ... that's something I definitely did mention in the initial post! Obviously the thirst and hunger features add a lot of depth, but this would add a little more.

killing players makes clothing temporarily covered in blood that zombies can smell and people can see

I made a thread with a similar suggestion to this earlier =) http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/63454-zombies-smell-blood-and-eat-corpses/#entry605647 -
You can have my beans as I'm currently in tears!

Thanks for that insightful reply, care to elaborate? (And don't think you're clever and just put 'NO')
