killing bandits should earn you their negative humanity reversed
LeYuno (DayZ) replied to LeYuno (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Otis got shot because Shane is a mass murderer who only looks out for himself. The reason he wanted to save the boy is to win the heart of Lori back and/or make her feel like she owed him. The real hero in my eyes is Rick, for killing Shane even though it went against everything he stood for. That was just as much a sacrifice as any other - he killed his best friend to protect the innocent (his group). This is why killing bandits should give you a boost in humanity. Because you make hard decisions that make sure that others stay alive, even if it means you need to put an end to the killing spree of someone else by killing them. -

Killing one person to preserve the lives of many many others is an act of humanity, in my eyes. If I need to protect a group of people by shooting the guy that is trying to kill all of them, then I will. What else is there to do if the goal is survival? You would rather let him live, because "it's not humane" to kill a serial killer? Remember, post-apocalypse means there is no longer any civilisation, no rules, no rehabilitisation, no society to "return to" after committing a crime, etc. I am not the weak, I am strong. I will survive because I kill those that want to destroy me and the people that wish to survive alongside me. That's how things work. That's how the human race got as big as it is now. Not because they left those that were out to destroy them alive, they killed what threatened them. If that is not humanity, then I don't know what is. Even though I'm fritz ze friendly doctor, if you try to shoot me dead I WILL return fire in self defence. And I feel that if I shoot a bandit, I should be rewarded for it, freeing the world from someone that is out to destroy everything. -

I guess I'm the only player here that's not a bandit in this discussion. -

I'll ask you in a different way. If you encounter someone in real life that has killed countless people throughout his life, does your killing him not grant you a hero status in itself? You did purge the world from the evil brought by this person. -

I get your idea and I still think it's not right. The only way would be to award a maximum of humanity points instead of the whole score like bandits get now. A friend of mine has -250k humanity. not because he shot so many players, just ones with higher humanity levels. I think people should be awarded for getting rid of someone that approaches the game as a bandit that shoots everything. Perhaps levels of humanity could be awarded different amounts of points. eg; - 10k will get you +250 humanity, -20k will get you +500 humanity etc. As of now the only way to get positive humanity is to risk your life trying to help others, while bandits just lie in the grass somewhere with a scoped rifle picking off other players. It seems to me that playing bandit still receives way too much positive reinforcement. I can tell since I've been playing on lingor as a player that is the complete opposite of Fritz' character. -

I'm currently running around with 25+k humanity. If a bandit kills me, he gets that in negative "added" to his score. However if I kill a bandit with -25k I feel I should get that score added to my humanity. If you're killing a friend over and over you're just boosting, this has nothing to do with the issue. -

Good news, everyone. I've updated the list with servers just now, adding US2419 and a set of markers for that server. Enjoy. More servers will be added over time. If you feel up to it, you can help by placing tents yourself on different servers and/or expanding the network on the servers present in the list. US2419 : http://dayzdb.com/map#set=8969 -

Hm I don't think that was correct then. The tents marked "self-aid tent" were the one that should be used for this purpose. I know the map markers are still in progress though. Maybe something went wrong. I don't have any tents near berezino, but the location you said might be promising to place one. I'll check it out, thanks. Heads up though, some idiot is currently hacking on US2419. I was driving my atv and suddenly warped to cherno I think. I was lucky enough to be able to disconnect, however i will probably lose my atv because of this fucking dick. If you were the person that did this and you read this, you are an asshole, crawl back into the hole you came out of. goddammit i hate those childish scripting idiots. -

I've heard from people on my skype list that DE 373 didn't load the tents normally after the automatic restart. It should be back to normal in a few hours. try US2419 at the same location. I'm finishing up the tents on that server too. Some tents have been placed but I need to return to put in the gear needed. I was planning on adding this server to the list later today but maybe I can do it now. To prevent this in the future I'll do my best to add more servers to the list, if you feel up to it, help out and set up a tent at the same locations on a different server - then pass me the location/server id and I'll go check it, then add it to the list. -

Another tent was added in the mean time. Keep in mind, if you use some things, consider coming back to that tent later on and refilling it so others might enjoy the same items. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

Well, that escalated quickly. I'm sorry if I threaten your trolling ways in DayZ by pointing them out in the pic I found. Btw, before you throw this at me, i'm not a kid, nor do I play COD. The last COD I bought was COD2, and that was the last good COD there has been in the series. -

just a simple reminder as to why this feature needs to be removed for the time being. -

LeYuno (DayZ) replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
On second thought, you might just remove it. zombies warp through them as if they weren't there, and it's current purpose is only to block passage to lootable buildings (by trolls). It's passed its purpose in it's current state, so might as wel remove it. -

Right now, if you remove a barbed wire, it will re-appear after a server restart. If you can fix that, barbed wire can stay imho. If you can't fix it from respawning after a restart, then remove it completely. Counts for tanktraps too by the way. -
Hackers losing their touch?
LeYuno (DayZ) replied to militantsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
currently the game is being overrun with script kids. it forced me to start playing early in the morning rather than in the evening so I could at least enjoy the game with 10-15 players on the server and not being instakilled over and over on 50/50 servers in the evening. I can't wait for dayz standalone. -

I would like to inform you that two new markers have been added to the south east part of the map on DE 373. This will help people getting in trouble in Solnichyi and Dolina/Msta -

No you can keep it, the fact that I forgot that the tent was still there should have been a hint that I have another campsite atm ;) The people that follow me on twitter have seen that I regularly find crash sites as I tweet coordinates after I leave the scene, I tend to keep a bizon here and there with some stuff I receive from people I save, or that I find in tents. If it's in a tent, I don't really need it immediately. You enjoy what you found! -

LeYuno (DayZ) replied to LeYuno (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's possible that that is an old backup tent of mine :) if it's a bizon and an m9 sd then that is one of my own backup tents. I used to keep DE 373 as a home server. I kinda forgot I had a tent there ;) The one that serves as a self-help tent is on DE 1998 if I'm not mistaken. edit: I just saw that the DE 373 tents were actually wrong (old tent list). I've edited the set to show the actual help tents instead (new link in OP). I'll have to move them somewhat tonight though, but the location is pretty accurate already. -

Ah yes. they are there, but they are pretty well conceiled. The one west of vyshnoye is underneath a tree in the coordinates 057-092. I remember that one because I had a backup tent there for quite some time. It's allways possible that tents didn't load after the server restart, on DE 373 its at 11:10 am if I remember correctly. DE 1998 I'm not sure. -

Don't look at it as helping me. Look at it as helping yourself and everyone else. I wish to expand the view on medical care in DayZ.
