The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
gorillahands4 replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree, most bandits (especially snipers) that know they have the kill shot are going to take it anyways. A timeout system after death wouldn't discourage PKing, it might even be an incentive for people looking to troll. @OP love the post and would love to see the game move in that direction. I'm really enjoying this game, but the only element that I'm truly trying to survive is other players. The world itself doesn't really present any real problems. Ramp up the difficult of the environment, make it much more difficult to raid cities, military bases, and even towns and I think you will get a more engaging/immersive experience. -
Had no idea, good to know thanks.

Suggestion for combating players that disconnects to avoid dying.

30 seconds does seem a bit excessive. WoW and Diablo 3 (I think even Hardcore mode) both require a ten second logout time while in action and it seems to work fairly well. -
The two things I would be interested in trying out would be changes in movement speed (maybe simliar to what you suggested) and headshots are the only thing that can kill them.

Tighter control on what weapons are in the game, more emphasis on survival rather than PvP without removing PvP.

I definitely agree that the only survival aspect of this game right now is found in PvP (which is certainly fun but can get stale). I think an Enfield or some other semi auto rifle should be considered a huge find and automatics are an extreme rarity. In addition I think ammo should be extremely scarce as well (once duping is fixed we'll see what happens here). Of course this might provoke more PKing to gather supplies but it could force people to put a little more thought into using their gun. At the same time find a way to ramp up the difficulty of the zombies and you'll have more emphasis on surviving this scenario and not just PvP. -
The only problem I have with KoS is the lack of repercussion for your actions. What I mean is I can normally kill somebody in a city or small town and have no problem at all escaping the zombies near me. I think if you fire off a round in a large town or Cherno/Electro you better already have an idea on how you are getting out, because the zombie horde is going to descend on you from all directions. Right now you might aggro a couple, you sprint around or through a building, and that's it crisis averted. You can now go back and loot the body if you have yet to do so. I think by scaling the difficult of PvE in major scavenging areas to the point where people truly need to worry about both zombies and other survivors when they fire their gun you could see less instances of people instantly killing one another for fear of dying seconds later by zombies. Right now the only thing that stops me from KoS is the fear of alerting other survivors. That's purely speculation on my part though, it might not have any effect on KoS at all. And honestly a major part of the appeal of the game is surviving the other players. So I wouldn't want to see any fundamental differences implemented to that aspect of the game by say including bandit skins or indicators.

That's something I would like to see, idk how well it would work with the current movement/animation cycle of the zombies. But ideally I would like to see excessive trauma to the brain as the only way to take them out. Body/Leg shots only serve to slow them down or knock them over.

I agree, as it stands right now the only threat zombies present in this game is that they can give off your position to other survivors. Other than that they really serve as simply annoyances rather than a problem. I don't know how feasible it is to up the count for the the mod, but in the standalone game I would love to see the zombies difficulty ramped up a notch. I shouldn't be able to just run in and out of major city, without even worrying about the zombies.
