I met up with my current team of around 6 players on the forums! We're all trustworthy and have played for about 2 days together. We all use Mumble as well and all have mics so it's really exciting!

When you first spawn, look at the bottom right of your screen. Three bits of texts will pop up, the middle one is your location. Find it on this map and use to orientate. http://dayzdb.com/map#4.127.032 You need to find food and drinks first, as well as a decent weapon, so I would suggest going to a low populated server and heading to Cherno or Electro. Loot around here. If you can find a vehicle that is fully repaired (not very likely but me and my friends found 2 by hiking up north a bit) use that to drive around. Zombies do NOT spawn when you are in a vehicle. However, this will make you a target for other players. Something I would suggest is teaming up with a group of more experienced players and get them to teach you the basics. Not sure what else to suggest to be fair. I'm on my 6th day of playing (Not alive, I've had DayZ for that long). Just go with the flow, you'll learn by dying a LOT!

Update for OP.. I've just managed to update SixLauncher, so try that and see if it helps. If not, I'm not sure what your problem would be

Hello! I need engine parts for a server that I use, as this is all my vehicle needs to get it going! If anyone CAN help. I don't have much in the way of equipment, but am willing to give someone a lift on MY server to wherever they want once I've sorted the vehicle. Yeah, it was quite good fun! I got killed by zombies after falling down a cliff, but managed to get an airlift from someone to the NW airfield and find a winchester as well. If I remember correctly, I left Luke in Solnichiniy, I'm gonna try and find a chopper and then go get him, although I may have to settle for a car...or foot!

Hello! I just died in Solnichniy trying to make my way to my friends base (he's offline so cant help me). I either need a lift from someone, or I need someone to actually give me a vehicle (which isn't likely to happen). I DO have a Jerry Can (I think it's full, I just picked it up) but I can't find a vehicle anywhere and I can't carry enough parts for it! I'm willing to go to ANY server to be honest! I'm based in UK, but I honestly could not care less how I get there! I'm currently at Cap Golova (just east of Cherno) and need to get to the NW airstrip! I don't have many supplies, but wherever you wanted to loot I would help and let you keep it ALL!!! Done :) If anyone else reads this, Recon picked me up and flew me directly to where I wanted to go, even asked me where I wanted to be dropped off on the airstrip! Lovely guy!

Hi Luke. Just to let you know, after my earlier post, Darth is genuine. He came all the way down from the north when I was in Cherno to give me a lift on his bike. Although, it took some damage, so he had to hike. We both hiked to Mogilevka where we met up and I think we were hiking for about 2 hours back towards his camp, where I needed to log off. He's a great player, really serious about DayZ, which is what I was looking for in a partner. For example, whenever he see's a zombie, he'll "spot" it (call out over the mic where it is). Finally...he is really good to talk too, we had a laugh today and I must say, it improved my DayZ experience a LOT having such a lovely chap to play with! EDIT: Is it you who added me on Steam recently! If it is, I look forward to seeing you soon!

In game, I'm looking for a bit of the same thing. Obviously survival, but I enjoy hunting animals in game. I'm wanting to get a tent and set up camp with someone, preferably somewhere safe. I also want to get my hands on a vehicle, maybe the Toyota Hilux. I do not KoS. I always go into Direct chat and say "I'm friendly" and see how the player responds. I normally do this from behind them though, I don't want to say "friendly" then get shot in the face. Add me on steam if you want, just let me know if you want to join up!

I DON'T script, I have no idea how... But I've just been banned from the same server 3 times in a row for 55.... Heck, I even died, got kicked, logged back in, respawned and got kicked with NOTHING on me!

I found a tent the other day, in Cherno, behind the firestation. Although it didn't have any NVG or anything of HIGH value in it, it did have a map and an ak. Probably not that top of the range for veteran players, but for me it was like "WOOOWWW""

Yes! Buy it! I bought it ages ago and have just started playing DayZ. However, I was playing Operation Arrowhead (you need this as well for DayZ) with a friend online earlier (we were in a server with 60 people) and I must say, although the single player campaign may not be to everyones taste, the online is truly amazing

What server do you use? I could use a lift sometime :)

So, I was in Cherno and I disconnected from one server to go and have my dinner. I come back and the server I was previously playing on was then full, so I select a new one, spawning in the tower that I have left the game in. Except this time ALL the exits were barbed wired off and I could hear gunshots quite nearby. It was obvious someone had made this their base. I found quite a large stockpile of weapons, including an AK-47 with 4 magazines a PDW? (a small pistol) and several magazines for that, as well as an abundant supply of bandages. Now, I know I'm new to DayZ, BUT I looted that building on a server with 4 people on (before it suddenly filled up) and I thought it had a lot in then, so I'm guessing someone is basing there and left their items on the floor, presuming that no-one would find them. Obviously I picked them up (along with a Czech Backpack that was also in there) and put them into my inventory. I then disconnected from the server, as there was no possible way for me to get out of the building (I do not have any tools as of yet). If you were that player, I'm sorry, I would have stayed on the server (UK 173) and given you a chance of getting your items back, if you'd have just left the doors unblocked!!

Double tap left-shift as you spawn, to turn off running and crouch straight away (or maybe even go prone, although this is slower). These both decrease your sound and visual indicators to zombies. Head to Cherno or Electro, on the South Coast. The firestations in these normally spawn guns. In one loot of that building I found an AK74, shotgun and MP5! These are both points on which you can spawn on the Southern Coast. Although, you may wish to do what I've done and print off a map- http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/images/chernarus_big_hq.jpg One last tip, when you spawn, you have three things written on the bottom right of your screen, next to the food/water/blood indicators. The middle one is the area you've spawned in. Use this to orientate yourself on the map. It may also help to get a hatchet (if you can find one) and when you find it, right click in the inventory and press "remove from toolbelt". This makes it your equipped weapon. Use this on zombies whenever you can instead of your firearm (obviously only wjen there's one or two of them) and you'll avoid attracting a horde of them! Finally, experimentation is the only way to find out the distances zombies will see or hear you. I'm quite new too, so whenever I see more than one zombie, I go prone.

I don't generally shoot onsight, unless I've seen that player kill another one first. I always make sure I say "friendly" in direct, then if they don't reply I say "are you friendly?" Then if they again don't reply, I ask one more time. By that point, if they haven't replied, I assume that they aren't friendly and open up on them! I have once though made the mistake of seeing someone crawl towards me with a hatchet and thought it was a gun, so shot him in the face....repeatedly. When I looted his body, the only weapon was the hatchet.....although, he did have a map, watch, matches and for some strange reason, also had ak74 magazines....which helped a lot!! Second time I've made a mistake is when I was running from a big group of zombies (all I had was a hatchet) and I climbed up a crane in Electo. I turned around and heard something climbing the ladder! I climbed up the second ladder. Again I heard footsteps, so when I saw a head, I plunged my hatchet down into it... Turns out it was another new spawner who was also being chased by the zombies and was following me for "sanctuary". The reason I knew this... The server I was using had Side Chat and I got a whole torrent of abuse from the player!

Right, I managed to log onto a server once, then my internet connection went down! It's back up again now, but I was just waiting at the "loading" screen (after pressing OK on the servers screen) for like 20 minutes! I joined a server with only 11 people in so it can't be that :( I'm trying restarting my computer to see if that's the problem, but I was just wondering if anyone else had really long load times? Apart from this one, the longest was last night at 5 minutes when I was logging onto a server with 30ish people in it!

Only if I say friendly and they don't reply. You never know if they're hiding a hatchet! Also, if they're being a dick and aggroing a ton of zombies and running in my direction

I'm a complete n00b to DayZ and I know it! If someone offered me a ride, I would see if I could team up with them, not turn around and blast them first chance I got! Damn! It's a hell of a lot easier to survive with someone else than on your own! If its not new players ruining your cover from zombies by sprinting OVER you it's really experienced players sitting near Balota with a sniper rifle!
