NEED MEDIC AT NOVY SOBOR BARNS WILL GIVE LOVE
[email protected] replied to conthefruiter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love the comradery! -
Thanks for your interest in DayZ, if you read around the forums you will see that DayZ is at cult status in the gaming industry, much like counterstrike when it was first released. There will be no shortage of gamers for DayZ. I got myself a DayZ tee shirt and went to the local supermarket (australia) , I got cheered by no less than 4 groups of people. So there are people out there interested. As far as the WarZ goes, if you had played any other open world survival game before WarZ you wouldn't continue to play it. I also have an account but cannot stomach the game at all. It is a very poorly designed game of any type. That's all I am saying on that for fear of going on and on. I think you will be very surprised with the high quality of DayZ, even the mod is a tremendous piece of work. (If is wasn't for the hacking on the MOD i would still be playing it.) Dean is clearly listening to the right people at BI and developing this using a proper end to end production life cycle model. This will ensure the expectations of the community are fulfilled. I have no doubt that DayZ will become one of those Epic games that stick around for years to come. As always (hats off the the development team)

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Got the WarZ as well, Truer words never said. I have played the WarZ 5 times, it had no immersing factors however compared to DayZ mod it was graphically "cleaner" I wouldn't say better. Just cleaner. The cartoon look made it feel like team fortress. DayZ just has so much........MORE. More of everything. -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I recommend applying an age old philosophy, expect the worst but hope for the best. I'm sure we will all know when initial alpha testing keys are disseminated, when this happens we can gauge the time frame a little easier. -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I say release it on everything (when appropriate), The more money the DayZ standalone makes the better support/servers/updates it will have. DayZ and BI will have a better idea of the demand after they measure the success of DayZ at that point they will have the data to make an informed decision. If it is really successful and everyone here believes it will be, then limiting the development to one platform doesn't really make much sense. Think of battlefield 3, the PC version is different to the consoles in a number of ways, the main one being 64 player servers. Even talking about the long term strategy of BI and the DayZ team at this juncture seems rather pointless considering they don't even know what they plan to do themselves. -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?

Dean is a true inspiration, To get the backing of Bohemia shows he has demonstrated true vision and dedication to the DayZ product. I have just dropped 2K (AUZ) on a new machine to ensure when the standalone is released nothing interrupts my gaming experience! -
So I was thinking, how about adding 3 or 4 handcars to the train line, It could be manually operated like the bike is now. (no fuel, no damage) I say "no damage" because of its limited use (only on the train lines) It could have a capacity of 4 people. This would really only be a means to get from one city to another, there would be obvious dangers to using this mode of transport its fixed route and there is no cover. I think that it would be cool to have it in dayZ What do you guys think? PS for anyone who doesn't know what a handcar is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handcar

1.7.3 Sucks! only weapon vs hackers gone, they did nothing to prevent hacking.
[email protected] replied to Serious Stan's topic in New Player Discussion
Imagine how sweet it will be when they release a standalone with hack protection, all I can say to rocket is "watch the money roll in" I have 6 mates that LOVE dayz but none have been playing since the cheaters took hold. I myself have been keeping a close eye on the forums looking for a sign they will cheat protect the MOD so I can enjoy something before the standalone comes out but I think due to the way the MOD is build making it hack proof will prove to be near impossible. The MOD employs scripts to run, it is effectively one big mess of scripts, a hack is a script ergo pain in the ass to prevent. The stand alone will likely act like a true expansion pack, similar to arrowhead. The guys will be able to work at hack proofing the standalone with a pretty high success rate. They have also announced a "server side" system configuration making it even more difficult to cheat. All this is great news but remember 90% of cheaters out there are kiddy hackers that simply copy over a selection of files from the internet into their game directory. The standalone only needs the most basic of anti cheating systems to eliminate the majority of cheaters. My view is play the MOD as a true alpha tester, find the flaws in the game not created by cheaters and feed it back to the forums. -
The ATV is easy to drive, "on road" It is very hard to drive "off road" My advice, try to stick to the road if your in a vehicle. NOTE: NEVER cross a bridge at speed in a vehicle you will backflip your vehicle 80% of the time, I recommend going around the bridge.

AU32 is one of the best servers out there, I can be confident that when I game on this server I will not magically drop dead along with everyone else because a hacker thinks its funny to initiate a "kill all" script. My vote on this: 0% tolerance of kiddy hackers, if you run scripts your out! If you hope to play on this server you best delete any hacks that you, dirty cheating, bastards are running!

LOVE IT!

Zombie respawn time too fast
[email protected] replied to Frosty-nee's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It appears as if the vote is increase the time between the spawns. I sit half in half out of this, The point is to survive against the zombies, the bandits are a product of player preference that is not in question here. Perhaps an increase of initial zombie spawn with a much longer re spawn time. 1. Zombie spawn animation "climbing out of the ground" this would take a little longer that the "pop up" spawn allowing survivors to run away. 2. Walking zombies "if slower zombies exist in larger numbers like the epic herds in the walking dead it would bring a new element to the game" Regards, -
This is completely correct, If you are stuck on the loading screen it is due to incorrect beta or dayz version. (this will account for 98% of issues) The dayz commander actively checks your version before displaying a list of compatible versions reducing the potential risk of you trying to connect to the wrong version. If you are having issues like Kallaway. It is likely due to incorrect installation. ALWAYS delete the files out of your dayz folder before updating to the new version. (always backup before deleting) It is worth mentioning 60 seconds on the loading screen does not indicate "stuck". Depending on the hardware of the server you are connecting to it can take up to 5 minutes to connect. The Australian servers suffer from this the most. US servers not so much. Cheers.

A suggestion on how to stop hackers. And booze(if not already ingame)
[email protected] replied to calkhi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree with RedRyder, His point that the game is effectively one be scripting melting pot is right, the issue would be to filter out valid scripts and invalid scripts but again this is difficult as each update brings with it a new script or a variation to an existing script. File validation, For the alpha/beta version a simple file checker system could work, nothing to complex. Another script could be built to scan the installation directory and check file names and sizes against the server list for validation. This approach is not to capture 100% of all hackers but at least this would eliminate the basic "kiddy" hackers that ruin fun aspect of testing an alpha. Script logging, The server could also have a list of valid scripts, if any users get past the basic file validation and executes a script not on the valid list they are kicked and banned. If it is a "KILL ALL" command everyone will still die but at least the hacker will not be back to do it again. Joint server ban list, This could be optional for the server, "share banlist" or "don't share banlist" When this option is set it will connect all the servers to a central banlist server that hosts a combined list generated from each server and shares it out among all servers with the option "share banlist" from a master list. This would also go towards preventing hackers. Debug servers versus Alpha servers, A variation of servers might be required as well, like "ROCKET" pointed out previously "locking down" an alpha makes it harder to debug and test, so creating "debug" servers that allow all the scripts to run could be an idea. I can completely handle loosing an awesome weapon to an inventory glitch or flipping a vehicle because I simply tried to cross a bridge, these are a pain in the ass but manageable. solution (submit a bug report) What I can't handle is spending 2 days in cross county mode only to have a hacker spawn right next to me with his invincibility hack and shoot me dead. solution (start from scratch) Or a hacker comes into the server and initiates a "KILL ALL" command then just leaves right away. solution (start from scratch) Hackers are the most destructive force in any gaming environment not just dayZ. They will drive away any fan of the work ROCKET is doing. I have a friend who has been a dedicated fan for over 3 months and not once has he been killed by authentic means, it is always a hacker. Can you imagine how crap it is to spend that length of time trying to immerse yourself into the game "even an alpha" only to be teleported 20M into the air. I am sure you all understand this frustration and it is a BIG ask for ROCKET to write all these scripts into an "ALPHA" but if he considers this, these are relatively simple solutions that could eventually be employed in his stand along version. -
What are the results when you toss a Gnade under it?
-
This is an excellent move by BI, clearly Rocket has demonstrated a market for this genre of game. As much as I love DayZ MOD I would be very happy to go cold turkey until they release the alpha for the new full DayZ Game. I hope that BI/Rocket use a more stable graphics engine than ARMA II. I am interested in having a look at ARMA III Well done!

I took 2 real time days to make my way to the north airfield, Went into the barracks to get the gear and a sniper followed me into the building, I popped him and went to raid his camo and gun, before I could even reach him (10MTR) away he disappeared into the ground. I don't understand why the MOD cannot at least convert the "dead body" into a pile of loot when you die, at least then the body can fall away as the user disconnects but the gear remains. Any thoughts on this approach?

Please, DONT add a bandit-indicator in this patch
[email protected] replied to JulieMeyers's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't understand the problem, Anyone who has played the MOD for more than a week knows "friendly" is rarely the case but I am sure everyone wants to co-op more. The objective to survive actually become relatively easy after you get your basic gear, its really the bandits that end up taking you out. What else is there to do when you have mastered the survival side of it? Several people have commented on a "safe zone" this may prove useful in getting people together without them shooting on sight, more organised groups can then roam out together and are more likely to defeat solo guys. The flip side This allows bandits to also team up and turtle on high value resources bandits or not at least they are working together as a team. This makes it more challenging for both sides, bandits and survivors. To make a wish Perhaps consider including grouping system like in battlefield 3 when you can create squads for people to join this could assist in the "locating my buddy" portion of the game which often takes up to an hour of the night. -
is there a safe way to switch from Primary to Axe?
[email protected] replied to JuniorQc's topic in New Player Discussion
This is useful, listen to this guy. Never put any primary weapon into your backpack without first identifying how many slots you need. Easy way to do this is 1. find a quite spot, 2. Completely empty your backpack 3. Add your primary weapon into your pack and count the slots it takes up. 4. You now know you need that many free to move safely between your backpack and your primary weapon slot. 5. If you intend to use this method always keep that amount free. NOTE: Remember your axe can also disappear into the ether if you assign your primary weapon back into your slot without adding your axe to your tool belt first. -
I can confirm flushing the Gcache works but for those that are lazy like I am, Alt tab out of the game to desktop Alt tab back into the game This effectively re-caches the graphics memory and fixes the bug. Your welcome :)
