Well, now you pick it up and run with it until you find somewhere you like the look of (yeah, preferably outta the way so people don't find your camp) then open inventory and try to place it. It might not work first time (welcome to Day Z) but keep trying and then put some stuff in it and click Save Camping Tent or whatever it says :P And you are correct, tents are local to a server, your tent will not appear in any other servers I'm afraid.

Join Canada 2 server, I can confirm that this puts you in the 'Wilderness' which in this case is a big forest (Debug Forest, I assume) and from there you can - if you avoid the player killing that seems prevalent in this area - make it back to the map if you head East.

Maybe it's part of a UVB transmission? Anyway, it was likely in the original game as an easter egg relating to Russia but it sure as hell adds suspense! :D Also Amnesty, you're correct about the Vanilla Sky reference, as in that film parts of UVB were played in the background of that film, my favourite film :)
