Man it took me about a month and a half of play to find my first rangefinders and I still have yet to see an SVD camo. I clearly must be doing it wrong.

The tension and fear this game can make you feel is one of its major selling points. your missing out on 90% of what this game has to offer. My Friends went to That place just to see what all the fuss was about. At the time everything seemed normal. The place was a little odd for sure but they made it in and out no big deal. On the way out however In a freak mouse incident one shot the other dead. In a grief stricken act of desperation the remaining one jumped off the tower to his death. They say you can see him falling off that tower some nights, trying to escape but That place.... once it has a hold of you, it will never let go.

And they are doing this.... With the standalone. Arma II was designed to allow custom scripts. vehicle spawning etc. Its code is completely open. To change that they would need to lock the code which would ruin Arma for the Arma players... So instead they will make a new game for DayZ. do some research please next time before making hasty accusations.
