I dont really mind if they would add this party system you describe, but still I find it unneccessary without alot of content to go with it and some restricting factor which dont appeal to me. Like I said already we are talking about supermobster and events, what next.. npc's and quests related to PvE and events :D These other features are things that make this party system work on other mmo's... To be fair I would like various dynamic events, not necessary with these super zombies but animated helicrash/plane/ship at shore etc that atracts zeds all around to make it harder. Groups playing on server would dominate these events when random people try to get organised, quite the impossible scenario if it cant be done alone. Even events that doesnt offer anything special apart from the regural looting, like burning cars along the roads and so on.. just to spice up things. High risk, High reward, Groups dominate, killing fest anyway. Group kills everyone else or randoms shoot each other for the loot. Low risk, high reward, Same as above. High risk, low reward, event gets ignored. Low risk, low reward, same as anything lootable. Its really hard to get it balanced, if there is anything people give value its going to be one of the first two scenarios, if there is nothing special it wont get attention or its regular loot spot. Still it wouldnt matter if there is party function or not, even with these events and PvE. Someone wants to kill you they can, so... is it helping feature and would it really work, have keep my mind and say its not. KOSing is really an impossible scenario to control if we have to keep some sort of freedom ingame.. Only real question is who are the developers going to screw over to help the situation. Everyone is not going to get to play as they wish. People wont act same ingame as rl, 95% of people killing in this game woudnt do it in rl.. doesnt matter what they claim. Thats why KOS is a problem in game that provides "too much" freedom.. Double edged sword really. Only way they could help this is to somehow add that value to the character, that you would think twise before engaging battle. This can go both ways, people avoid eachother and/or its wild west shoot out in town when you go around the corner, which one draws faster... In both cases I would wellcome the character value, as developing skill etc as mentioned before. But this is the main issue, and party function wont affect this :(

Easyer to respond in the quotes to get some sort of order in it

IMO major part of the people who KOS, kos because they think the opposing person is likely to do the same and I dont blame them. Its hard to change this habbit, but I dont think majority of kosers(endgame) do it because its fun but because there is nothing else to do anymore. By saying another MMO, I mean the key features. Party system, next its npc's, safe zones, point based skill system, fractions... you name it. Point of dayz has been being completely free from these aspects, I understand that compromises has to be made but I would leave these generic mmo stuff as a last option. I dont say the game cant still be good but, I would prefer one without. It just takes away the possibility of improvisation, backstabing etc. But then again even if these wont help reduce, they wont increase kos so no harm done.. they only add aspects and features. I dont understand why people who think the heart of this is KOS fun would be playing this, there is plenty of titles that offer more fun KOSing. PVP seeking people I understand in this game, as it has the permadeath factor that add to the combat. But these arent the regular kossing type that are plenty. Also the state that KOSing is most problematic,is when you wont even get the change to form that party when you are shot in the face. If you get shot after you have formed the "unformal" party now its more or less your fault for letting your guard down. Its not KOS anymore then, its just killing you. It was one of the interview from the rezzed just do a youtube search and watch few of those. He did not confirm it, but talked it as an option. If I remember right it was in this one, same can be found with video also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPG3JKOB9Sg

Google search, really? You realize that you can white any game there and get same results, also realize how many of those sites will just screw you over without you getting any cheats, if you get its most likely outdated and you are banned in no time. People who really cheat dont get their cheats through that google search.

What do you think full modding support will do to DayZ
Zeppa replied to Jex's topic in General Discussion
Server list will full of servers like: "1000 vehicles, custom spawn loadout, extra barracks, 24/7 day, autobloodbag, godmode" And you cant find decent "vanilla" server or one with a actually proper content, rather than COD deathmatch setting. Only way after this is to find some private hive closed community where you have to apply and get passwords, then its same faces days on end. -
This. #2 is also stated by Dean in the latest interviews, something like this is planned.

If they are going to making everyone roll around with a fire axe locked and loaded 100% of the time
Zeppa replied to captainvette2112's topic in General Discussion
Oh.. what an ignorance with OP. Please do some research about the development and what have happened before you post something so silly stuff First post has a point, with very poor delivery... tho the first post woudnt be posted at all if you would have done the research about what coming and planned. But if this ranting helps you cope, let it all out! -
That is true, but somekind of middle ground should be found. IMO Items in persistent objects(tent etc) should start RNG to remove these items from the server, or move them to a spawn somewhere. (depending of the loot system) If someone in the group touches item inside the container after the person to be dead soon those items woudnt get deleted. IE: person A came from the loot run and brought can of beans, so those beans would be deleted when RNG(starts when person A dies) hits the spot if none else have touched it after A.. Other items woudnt be affected, also the RNG could be stopped if anyone else interacts with the object(tent etc) after the death of the person A, so items wont keep randomly disapearing from it till there is none of the persons A items(items that he interacted last). I woudnt start deleting persistent objects like tents, cars etc immediately. They could make somekind of log for the vehicles(who interacted with it). Like persons A and B have been in it last. If both dies the vehicle gets respawned. A dies hes removed from the log and only B is holding the vehicle saved, untill A touched it again and adds him self to the vehicle log or B dies and vehicle is spawned. This log should be cleared sometimes that person X woudnt bee holding the vehicle as he had been stealing beans from it. Log could count who has interacted with the item and how many times in last 2 days, person least interactions is cleared from the log etc. Also person who dies shoudnt be able to interact with items for day or so after his death so you coudnt regear from those immediately. Also would we count moving items inside the container as interaction or just adding or removing from it, I would say moving woudnt count..
-
What if its as persistent as you are? Once you die last persistent objects you touched last will be deleted after X minutes from your death?
-
Just random very basic stuff, that are more or less just visual. Nothing that makes another spawn much different than the other. Even the variety of looks would bring more to it.

You do realize that apart from bulletproof vest(Not sure if these even exist yet) and ballistic helmet it doesnt matter if you are naked or in pristine clothes. Bullets will go clean through, including anti-stab vest. I have seen demostration videos about balistic helmets and those seem to work. Various clothing types could work against mele in different ways, but not agains firearms.

I Actually like The Kick They Gave The Mosin
Zeppa replied to Deathlove's topic in General Discussion
Bipod wont affect the kick, it stabilizes your aim. If you ADS when standing up you get more sway than on the ground with bipod. Maybe some special bipods that have legs that can "stick" to the ground for les upwards recoil, but that energy has to transfer somewhere so if upwards motion is countered it goes harder to your shoulder. The kick will be always there, no bipod will change that. Prone makes should make it less obvious than standing as it naturally more stable form. And with boltaction rifle you cannot ADS while you reload, at least without jerking and swaying. -
Can anyone justify the low price of this game anymore ?
Zeppa replied to acoastalhero's topic in General Discussion
lol, You cant assume that, there is always loot. Specially now when every server is restarting like every 2 hours. After like 6+ hours the basic loot may get hard to find. Thats just an excuse made for yourself to make server hopping "ok"... ofcourse every spawn area is clear of loot after like 10 minutes after server restart if the server is high pop, go inland. You are just ruining the game for yourself if you keep hopping when there is no loot when you get spawned in. The timer is not problem, problem is in players mindset. -
Map size doesnt really matter when it comes to RV-engine, when the forests etc lack huge detail like undergrowth and terrain level variety, all together its not interesting on any map. Towns are more or less ok as those are easy to spice up with objects. Also adding fetures etc will make more use of the map and through that more interesting to explore, persistent items will make people seek for camp sites and so on. As said problem is not the map size, but the lack of content atm. The thing I dislike the most in RV engines is the draw distance of grass etc and dull terrain variety. Forests need shitload of work to get to the decent level of detail. Doesnt matter if they buy 100 times more detailed satellite pictures when the foundation is shit. The game has 3 dimensios so make use of it. I also understand that what I ask will demand more from the hardware but its worth it. ps. Smaller map would only bring it more close to a COD deathmatch... no thanks.

Why would you be complaining about the loot then or the grind you make it to be? This is why I think its fair to assume that you dont like it and something else suits you better than this.. as you have problem with it and it wont change. True if something is expensive it will increase the need to loot to gain currency if you want the item, but it doesnt make it grind. If you farm much to gain that loot then its only "grindy" to you. Basic necessarity is the iron sight. "I can gain access to the lrs (the next level) by using the same strategy over and over." Grind would be if the LSR only spaws to the world after you do the "by using the same strategy over and over." part to a certain point. Ie. Loot 100 houses and the LRS is spawned there. In dayz, You dont gain access to LRS, you already have access. What you dont have is the item itself. The random is huge factor. I think you have gotten and understood the point already. :D ps. Im off, if I dont get huge urges to reply to something.

Dont really think so, it happens on other games and real life so why not in this... its just basic evolution of things. If taken even further then when enough time has passed those bullets or what ever could become main currency through trading and everything has value that way and after that some values come more or less fixed, with the variable of individual persons mind of things. Games and RL have currencies will get more and more inflated as time passes, when game/banks is dumping in more "money" and its value decreases. At beginning magazine for m4 could go for like 30 bullets, after year or two it will become 300. In a way, every item will become part of that currency.. only with differend value in it. Currency needs to be common enough, if bullets are rare they wont really work as a currency. You cant take it out of this context and use it like that in this game. Your character cannot gain access to new content through grind. Everything is available to everyone any time in this game. If first persons finds can opener first house he goes in to and second cant find it after 5 days its not grinding. Grinding needs to be some constant task to gain something specific with high propability. It would be farming, if you just kill zeds to gain beans. If you character would get experience points and through that "level up" that would be grinding if you kill those zeds to gain that experience. Coming with new perks, skills etc on each level RPG etc stuff. In dayz there is only this loot farming if you wish, when you go to certain spots to gain certain item. Dont know if that will change through loot system overhaul, but most likely this will possible to some end when certain items spawn in certain type of place. If everything can spawn everywhere you cant really farm anymore, but then again if some item has better change of spawning place x... you could farm that place. THEN again, item needs to be common enough to count as farming, if its fairly rare its just regular looting and playing.. But I think this is just nitpicking as I everyone knows what you mean :D
-
Not exactly. Same item can have different value defined by every player, if you need something or like something you hold it for more value than someone else this with things you listed... Also you may not count the time sink for items that you have looted "along the way" so its not like the "grind" you make it to be. Another mans trash is anothers treasure or what ever. Thats the nice part without specific economy system forced by the devs. Most likely after time, certains items will develop "common" trading value, but its not carved in stone ever. Like said before. Games have scenarios and this game has one that drives towards authenticity and you just cant walk in to a Joe's Guns and get that scope. Seek for an trade or wish that you will come across one. Seek for authenticity doesnt allow the scenario you would like, markets restocked everyday and houses that look like they get cleaned, fridges stocked everyday and gun safes have the guns and ammo you want. Again thats seems to be the main reason this aint the game for you and doesnt seems to be much to discuss about.
-
Maybe not rely, but will have it as a major part. If you like doing quests etc then there is different games for that. Then again that may be part of your grind also, you have to do those quests etc to get to the point you want to be. That is all, there is no escape.
-
Everything just points the fact that this is not game for you. Do you feel that BF is grindy when you have to kill this and that to get certain items/attachments/guns, you cant escape it... some games have more of it and some less. Difference is that game like Dayz doesnt have GRINDING in the meaning of the word. Grinding happens when you will achieve something when you do something always and for everyone. Dayz doesnt give the certainty that you will find that scope, many games will give you the way to get it, ie kil x amount with the gun to get attachment x. So dayz doesnt really have grinding, there is only grinding if you make it to be. To the car parts thing, again trading is the shortcut... sparkplugs for can of beans, anyone? This you cannot do in many games, there you have to do that "grind" as you say.
-
It will change when they get features complete etc. When people start to really form up and make trading etc, you can get that uberleetscope with 100 cans of beans. Edit: In short. Alpha, lacks content and features.

Do you want working helicopters and planes in DayZ?
Zeppa replied to RedDogMT's topic in General Discussion
Yes, if implemented from TOH without any auto trims, auto hover or suchs bullshit training wheels. Problem in the mod that anyone could fly those thins without any efford. I like TOH, only problem is the arma lighting problem that is really annoying and game breaking specially in flying sim. Guy goes bling when looking general direction of a candle in the ground... Many people are capable of flying on expert(I find it much more rewarding than any other diflevel), only there would be no rollfliproflcopters with cod kids all assists on, pretending to being able to really fly one. Also checking and such are welcome from TOH too. -
Also games like COD it takes like year or two just to add new name, few skins and map or two... does people bitch about these on their forums? Just should think of this when thinking dayz development time and whats been done. Havent been really a active follower few last month or so but update phase seems really slow atm, last experimental patch was like from month ago. If I remember right they countered some serious bug(s), so could be explaining the update phase.

Things to know about when watching frankie.. Hes stuff is extremely edited, so you can have any impressions that HE wants. Fair enough for him, just keep that in mind. He hacked, makes you only question about hes methods nowdays on any game he streams and what he uses to produce his content on youtube! Also hes voice started to irritate me after a while, maybe had something to do with the hacking issue and how platantly he tryed to lie himself out of it. Also I remembers lots of his stuff being scripted encounters etc, dont know how much of that is left today. Maybe none is, cant remember much of his early streams anyway. An I think its fair if people are driven away from KOS, but no way one should think that frankie is not kossing much. I can only imagine how many hours he plays to get those few minutes up to youtube, just pick the best clips and edit it to a bambi saving vid.
