EDIT: "UPDATE: Server is back online. Those identified as hackers in last weeks have received permabans. Sorry for the downtme -Rocket" Oh, I see. So if you have ever run your own server for a completely different multiplayer mission (a "the thing" mission that I created, much like rockets very own dayz) and tested bypasses to create anti cheat measures against communities such as tkc and others, you get banned? Oh, and not only that but you get the lead dev for the mod leaving a reply to your topic just to act like a dick along with a member of the DayZ staff. Neet-o. Glad I've been a veteran supporter of BIS, its community and modders such as yourself. On the topic of mods, I don't remember DayZ being an official BIS product. I remember it being said that this was a personal project and repeatedly called "alpha! don't complain!". All I know is, when it is one, my money isn't going towards it. You do realize that no matter what you do, people who want to hack are going to. The guys that know how to crash the server and know how to set off the nukes are going to ruin this game for everyone now. Since everyone seems to love to quote you rocket, I'll do the same: "HAVE FUN"

Hey I just tried to login to several servers and received a message "Battle eye: (GLOBAL BAN)" and can not join any server. Is anyone else receiving this error?

The problem with reporting hacked gear
JamesGTAIV (DayZ) posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
My question is, should people with hacked gear in their inventory be banned? After looking at tons of posts, a lot dead bodies are found with hacked gear and a lot of these people who find the bodies take the gear, play with it and then later report it to this section of the forum. I hate to imagine how many players have been banned (like my friend weedman) for having hacked gear from another player. Would it be possible to make it a bit more of a thorough investigation before just banning someone for having a mk17 or whatever? Thanks for reading. -
That link should be stickied so people can cross-ref before posting. Thanks.

Hacker on Dallas 38
JamesGTAIV (DayZ) replied to jatobi (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That's probably just someone who hit respawn which left their body standing dead. It happens all the time. You'll see tons of "people" just standing up on the beach, not being killed. -

Great to know. So they're pussies who ban anyone that kills them fairly? What's the point of even playing the game then? -
Hey My friend and I were traveling up near (i believe it was) Black Lake and came across a group of 2 or 3 people. They seemed to be in a clan as one of their names was [PATY] TJ and I cant remember the other guys but it also was [PATY]Something. After my friend killed TJ, he was kicked from the server. We thought it was a glitch so I continued the fight while he rejoined. I managed to kill the other guy and right after, I was kicked. We're both banned from the server now as it gives us the same "You were kicked from the game" message.

Carebear Brainstorming Thread
JamesGTAIV (DayZ) replied to JamesGTAIV (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's true, iHax. Now that I think about it, keeping your gear is a bit excessive. There really is a problem with the game being a deathmatch with zombies sprinkled on it. @Tails: I don't mean punishment in a literal sense, I just mean the pros and cons for each character type. -
Hey guys I see tons of threads/posts every day about the rise in murders in the game and although I didn't agree there was a problem before, I'm kinda starting to see one. Even the in-game chat activity is starting to calm down as it seems people are less social due to mistrust. I know, I know, someone is gonna come in here and say "well in a real apocalypse situation, people would be mistrusting and kill each other for guns and shiz." If we want to be brutally realistic, let's face it: 90% wouldn't have the balls to be a bandit or are too out of shape from gaming to even run from a zombie with no legs! This is still a game. Whether you wanna call it a simulator or whatever, it's still a game and wouldn't get so much outside attention if it didn't look fun. Truth is, that fun factor is going down, and that really is mostly due to a lack of social interaction in the game and not being able to even look for friends since nearly every person you see, fires at you. The point of this thread: Brainstorm ways to implement a balance between good and evil. How are bandits rewarded and punished? How are survivors rewarded and punished? etc. My solution: -Spawn correction: Players spawn at random locations on the map. No more coastline, making it easier for groups to meet and harder for bandits to kill newly spawned players. This will also populate the map with activity rather than the north being looked at as a safe zone. -Good survivor rewards: Ability to keep your essential gear through three lifespans. Say you find a map, compass, hatchet, etc. The biggest reward to being a good person is the ability to spawn with your essential gear three times. After your fourth death, complete restart.

1.) Nobody wasted your moms money but you 2.) Adjust head bob 3.) Change your resolution or build a better pc 4.) Controls aren't bad, theyre advanced. The game wasn't designed with a controller/console players in mind And lastly, 5.) If you actually did your research on ARMA II and not DayZ, you would have been prepared for all of this. Besides, nobody will miss you, you're probably not worth the beans you carry.

I agree, the mod does need this. The game would be much more interesting if people spent less time looking for each other on the coast and more time all over the map looting/murdering. Right now, you're 100 times more likely to run into a lone survivor. It would be a wee-bit more thrilling to see bands of 5-10 players roaming the map. Imagine the chaos, especially in cities like Cherno.

Trading Post, volunteers required

Excellent idea. I had thought of this numerous times but couldn't think of it working without some sort of mexican stand off/hostage exchange. Good luck. Look forward to seeing how it works out. -
I was scavenging the SW airfield with a friend and while we were in one of the hangars, another survivor walked in. He didn't shoot and I didn't plan on shooting him. "Long story short"; He followed me out with his gun aimed at me, and started firing. I took cover behind a wrecked hmmvw, and he was stormed and killed by at least 9 zombies. Best mod/game ever. (sorry if this isn't the correct section)
