Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
BlindProphet replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Going to point out a couple of things here that you seem to miss. First...hackers? Yeah Rocket can't do anything about that in the mod. Its not really possible. Thats a engine level problem not a mod level problem. The engine is like a woman. Hackers are like aids. The mod is a dress. You're blaming the dress for not stopping her from getting aids. In theory it could by making her look hideous but then no one would want the dress in the first place and the point would be moot anyways. So yeah...theres that. The glitches? I know some people I play with that have yet to get graphical glitches. Others I play with had their issues entirely solved with this patch. And me and my best friend had them mostly resolved, only a couple of areas give us any issues, most are fine or to a degree in which we can deal with it. Soooo theres progress there. Loosing your gear through other means? Well yes. You can loose your gear though a various means through no real fault of your own. Again thats more of an engine problem than something that can be fixed through the mod. And that has been improved. I've lost gear due to it not saving. Lost a ton of stuff I recently found scavenging at choppers, deer stands, and cities (M14 AIM etc) because tents ate it. Such is life. Don't get attached to your gear. Is it annoying as shit? Yes. It was annoying that yesterday I logged into the debug plains, and had a death message pop up for myself, despite having been alive when I disconnected last night. I wasn't dead, just standing in the debug plains. Then I got to log back in and be on the coast, with nothing but my cammo clothing on. No backpack, no bandages, etc. Annoying? You betcha. But it -is- Alpha. So I kinda expect something like that to happen on occasion. Is it clear? Do you know if the graphical glitches are showing on all their machines? Its quite possible that they never got them for whatever reasons. And its not sensible for your approach when you're talking about a MOD. The mod is not a full blown game. -
Arma 3 engine does not support windows xp

Going to point out again, that Microsoft already has stopped supporting XP. They've been stopped for a while now. -

Well glad you don't have anything to say about the other points. Sad to see you can't make an actual argument and instead point to a quote from someone as 'proof' that I don't understand what windows 8 is all about. Ah the wonders of the internet. Everything you read on it is true. -

One I'm well aware money doesn't grow on trees. Two Microsoft is no where near as greedy as you think. Three you are right that upgrading your PC to meet todays technology standards falls below your basic needs in levels of importance. However I would point out that if you can not afford the upgrade even with saving say $25 a week (Thats only really 4-6 weeks to get windows 7) then perhaps you should also be less worried about how greedy Microsoft is and more focused on advancing yourself so that you can afford to do the things you like doing. Your not forced to do so. You can choose not to purchase a more recent operating system. But your making the choice to use an ancient operating system that is in no way shape or form supported at this point by its makers, and which more and more companies are going to stop building software for. If you don't want to upgrade you don't have to, but thats your CHOICE. You're CHOOSING to not be supported. CHOOSING to be obsolete. CHOOSING to not keep up with the technology curve, and accepting that eventually you will not be able to play anything but ancient games because you made such a choice. ARMA3 just happens to be one of the first thats saying 'Sorry we're not supporting an opperating system whos creators don't even support anymore'. Actually that's not the case at all. They're not forcing you to use games for windows live or anything like that. I know a couple of people using windows 8 right now and are using steam WITHOUT issue. I'm really not surprised at your level of misinformation though. -

And damn those graphics card companies forcing us to upgrade because newer software needs more powerful video cards. And damn those processor makers because new software demands more powerful processors. Damn microsoft for making us upgrade from windows 3.1 because software moved past it.... Seriously...you're using an operating system that I bought what? 10 years ago on the first day it was available at college. Its old. It is as viable a operating system at this point as windows 3.1. Microsoft no longer supports any version of it. Its dead. In terms of software and hardware XP is absolutely ancient. With windows 8 hitting general availablity its 3 operating system generations old. (Not counting the xp derivitives ofcourse). If your operating system was hardware you would have had to upgrade your computer at least once since it was released. For fucks sake, get a job and stop being a penny pinching cheap ass douche and upgrade your operating system. -
Do you use Steam or DVD Retail version of ArmA2?
BlindProphet replied to horrgakx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bought it on steam last year during the summer sale I think? Long before DayZ was announced -

Microsoft doesn't support any version of XP anymore...why on earth would anyone else? -
My case for why the humanity mechanic could never be working as intended(in accordance to what Rocket wants as well)

I'm not sure you understand what you're saying. Its not different play styles as in he's a medic, he's sniping noobs, he likes to gun them down in the streets. Its Bandit, Survivor, Hero. This essentially covers everything you put in your post. Bandits...people who murder people a lot, steal stuff from others, ect. Survivors, people who survive, they might murder the occasional person now and then, heal the occasional person now and then, but in the grand scheme of things they're not particularly going one way or another, they're just surviving. Sometimes yeah that means capping that guy. Sometimes that means helping that other guy out. But they're pretty much balanced. The hero is pretty much going out of his way to help people. That's covers the entire gamut of activities with other players. And it works. Me? I'm generally in the survivor category. I don't particularly go out of my way to murder people, but I help my friends. And if we're threatened or not sure, heck yes I'm going to double tap that guy weapon or not. (Fairly recently let someone go like that and he reported our position to his buddies who swarmed in on us not terribly long afterwards) I'm not sure you understand the system, much less what the word "highly" means. Humanity drops much faster than you raise it with healing. To balance out a murder its going to take more than just a bandage and transfusion. That means in order for them to exploit it in the manner you're talking about they'll need to wound themselves more in order to get that humanity back, and not accidentally end up killing their own mates. Doing so requires supplies. A good amount of them at that. Now on top of all that, you're assuming they always play as a group doing just that. It also assumes no one comes in and theres a large firefight or battle. Sure you could exploit it this way but its not efficient time, or supply wise. With ammo on the way to becoming more finite this makes this harder as well, or again less efficient. So exploitable in that someone could spend time and effort on getting what they want and staying away from where they don't? Sure. Highly exploitable? Show me the evidence that proves that first because from what I've witnessed thats just not the case. Yes I think its worthwhile. -

Totally lost any faith I had in Rocket/dev team
BlindProphet replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You keep saying your a game developer. You have your own team. ETC. ETC. ETC. Then you make comments like this and it makes me wonder. Why? Because he hasn't skipped anything. He didn't skip beta. He went from a mod that was in Alpha...to a stand alone game that is now in the pre-alpha stage. You're right the mod will never be 'fixed' because there are a lot of things that he has limited control of with it being a mod. By going to standalone he's able to, in theory, resolve those. Its not like he's going from alpha testing to full release, skipping over the beta testing. He's going from alpha with one engine/platform to pre-alpha with a completely different engine and platform. And why should he not continue to add new things to the alpha? Why should he not be testing out ideas and concepts via the mod before implementing them in the stand alone? That's really the whole point of the mod and the alpha phase. Actually you are trashtalking with your claims of 90% bug free alpha test, comparing a stand alone with your own engine to a mod who's main flaws are with the engine its modding and saying yours is better, and saying the dev team isn't releasing patches fast enough, and so on and so forth. And then lets not forget your claims that your game will be soooo much better than DayZ later in the thread. All in all? It seems like mostly you're just ego stroking yourself with your 'look at me i'm so much better than Rocket because I say so. Please ignore all the contradictions I make between my posts and my lack of knowledge of the sdlc, how development works, Rockets stated goals, or anything else relating to anything relevant in the thread. Anyone who supports dayz is a asshole jerkfase.' attitude. Personally am I happy with some of the bugs? Heck no. Are there things I want fixed? Yes. Am I upset that the patch, that hasn't officially been released, hasn't entirely fixed my graphical glitches? Somewhat. On the other hand I realize what state the games in. I realize the state of the engine it was built on. I realize that DayZ is not a stand alone game, thus inherits the underlying flaws of the engine it was built on. I realize what Rocket's stated intentions are and where he is going with things. I realize what the alpha phase is for. That doesn't mean I agree with everything Rocket does. That also doesn't mean I like all of his ideas for things to add. Ontop of all of that...I enjoy the game in general, and support it. Will you make a good game that I will enjoy when you finally announce and release yours? I have not a clue. My instincts after reading all your posts is that no...no I will not for a variety of reasons. First being your statement that 'some games aren't ever finished like mine'. That leads me to believe that you'll fall into the same development cycle traps that DNF fell into. Other things that worry me include your boasts about a game that sounds no where near finished as being the best, and will blow DayZ out of the water, your talk of what positions you're filling for the team which have very little to do, if anything, with writing actual code, and your seeming lack of knowledge of the SDLC. And all of those things don't even touch on your 'people won't like it because Minecraft Graphics' bit... But good luck to you. -

BlindProphet replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Last I checked the patch hasn't been officially released? And the reason it hasn't been officially released is because testing (ours...we are in alpha testing after all) has shown that the issues that it was supposed to address have not been entirely resolved. I mean...you're blaming him for releasing a patch, which has been stated not to be an official patch yet, in order to test to see if things were fixed was not properly tested. Do you not see how absolutely idiotic that sounds? Lets also not forget you complaining about things not being fixed in a patch in which they weren't listed as fixed in... I'd say haters gonna hate...but in this case its more of a case of Idiots are gonna post idiotic crap which doesn't even make any god damn sense when looked at for 5 god damn seconds. -

From what I saw and was able to test. Initially had graphic glitches, switched my vid memory and that fixed them in Cherno and had no glitching there after that. Headed to balota and graphical glitches all around. Was able to look at the mil bodies just fine, but graphical glitches seemed to be coming from something else. Tents maybe? Was hard to tell other than the bodies weren't giving them off. Edit: Running the latest beta patch and ati 5700 series graphics card -
I have never once fired an AS50. I have had an AS50 in my inventory for 2.5km as we relocated our camp sight. I have found a single mag of AS50 ammo. I have had an AS50 fired at me multiple times. But that is the extent of my experiance with the AS50. Never had a M107. Had a svd cammo that I never got to shoot as the server reset and gobbled it up. Fired a M24 once. Fired a DMR once. And that pretty much is the extent of that. Just to point out you are the one said you got killed by the same guy, who was sitting in the same spot 10+ times. If you keep going to where you know you will be killed, by the same guy who's sitting in the same spot, you have in fact gotten exactly what you deserve. I can say I've gotten into and out of Cherno and Elektro multiple times under fire. I've died a few times as well. Heck had to move through Elektro last night under fire from an AS50 and several people in the town. Died once, and then managed to get back to grab my stuff without getting shot. At the same time trying to guide someone else around the city soooo... Good to know you're mad. You know not everyone who kills you, or calls you a idiot who gets what he deserves is a hacker. Just saying...
-
Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result... You got exactly what you deserved.
-
It doesn't give you much extra in town no. However it isn't a giant attention drawing difference between you and everything else in town. It also allows you to transition in and out of town better than civi clothing. This is due to the fact it doesn't stand out anywhere near as much while moving along greener areas as civi clothing. And in grassy/bushy areas in town it allows you to hide better than civi's.
-
You mean aside from the fact if you ever have to go into a town the ghillie suit is essentially painting a big giant target on yourself?
