I have shot my deal of people, but I always end up being killed as well. I encountered a few people, also in small groups, usually pairs is how I meet them, stand and salute, then they sometimes shoot me, so I go postal and return fire with that bit of blood I have left, sometimes I even manage to patch myself up. I raid their bodies, and usually there are some valuables in there. I have drugged vision, find a cow, take its meat, camp out in the forests until healed. I like to avoid players for the simple reason they shoot first and ask questions later. Even when I'm saluting them, or tell them I'm friendly, they still shoot. once I was not even armed, I salute them, hoping they understand I'm not after their stuff, and all I had was my spawn items. They were not after my loot for sure, just the pleasure of murder. These people exist, can't say otherwise. I never engage a person, and never feel the need to drool over their shiney Alice Pack that might contain that morphine I really want to stock up on. I rather risk a trip to Cherno and get it from the medical centre than murder some poor guy in the woods, unaware of me even being there. I just can't. Even though it's a game. I am too much of a kind guy to murder people for their stuff. I once even was proning along the fields because I seemed to have broken my bones, and encountered a newly spawned guy. He told me I should wait right there, and he'll get me some supplies, so I did. 15 minutes later I saw the "that guy" was killed. I don't even remember his name. But he took a bullet trying to get morphine for me. That is just sad, but he tried. Again, it's all a game, and a little RPG play is in order, but you can clearly see the difference in players. Some even kill you and don't even care to even as much as look at your carcass. I even observed some from bushes killing a cow, just walking there, and leaving it to rot. Not even take their meat? they were carrying assault rifles, and surely they knew what a cow is for, and that you need a hunting knife to do something useful with this kill. Kill for pure pleasure, this is sad, but true. Leave the cow alone if you do not plan anything with it. Or were they Ofcourse these games such as COD which have the sole purpose of killing for points is different. But on DAYZ you don't have to. Your soul is showing. You kill for loot? You kill for fun? Or like me you even try to avoid killing Zeds. Ammo is precious. Why wasting it on killing things you can avoid easily. Zeds mean nothing to me, they are NPC's that really changes my feelings for them as they are not real players. Not real player who wandered the lands for hours to scavenge the goods they have. Not players that have a mission of staying alive. So in DAYZ you are what you want yourself to be. I feel great seeing that murder counter to 0. What's your story?

I read that topic now. It seems that the software bans people for no reason on or near the NW airfield. If this is a glitch, then they should be able to get this fixed pretty soon. Unlawful bans are really bad for the game's reputation.
-
The BattleEye software does not globally ban for picking up hacked/cheated items. So if the software hasn't changed, then it does not ban you for picking up a hacked item. And if BattleEye DOES ban for picking up someone else's hack, then they need to fix the code.
-
I have a really good experience with the BattleEye. It is strict and just. It helps making gameplay a lot better and permabans hackers and cheaters on sight. If it globally banned you, you probably are trying to ignore what you really know you did. If you have the game new, original, and the only player on your computer, no shared keys, and just 3 days, yes I believe you are screwed because you installed hacks and are trying to act stupid.

The first nice player I've seen all day.
Osaka (DayZ) replied to capefear56's topic in New Player Discussion
Very nice of him, but a bit stupid at the same time. I mean, you had nothing, not even a weapon. I would have just crawl out and French kiss the first zombie I find, then respawn. Then at least I have my bandage back, still no weapon, and everything full health. He sacrificed a bloodbag, morphine and some food, while you could have respawned and lose nothing. But hey, free medical help, why not :P -
Could the desk top i might be getting run dayz?
Osaka (DayZ) replied to lildude18's topic in New Player Discussion
I run it on an Athlon X4 955 {3.2 ghz} with 4Gb dual channel RAM DDR3 800 And a Geforce GTX 580 I have all visual effect on to max, and 1920x1080. It runs fine and smooth. Unless it rains, then the FPS drops to 30 ish, which is a bit wobbly. -
The hatchet is a very nice silent takedown indeed. I hope in later releases you will get to have a better way to switch secondary weapons with the hatchet more easily, or get a combat knife as a primary one. I'd love the rush up to zeds and stab them in the back and nobody is the wiser. Ninjamode

Hope in Humanity! [Why I turned bandit to friendly.]
Osaka (DayZ) replied to Royce59's topic in New Player Discussion
I don't shoot new spawned players. I'm not the bad guy in this game. But anyone running straight at me with something as much as a hatchet is going down. Don't yell "friendly FRIENDLY!!" while running towards me swinging your axe in random direction while foaming at the mouth. It severely decreases my trust. And please don't run towards me with a whole mob of your undead buddies following you. Your undead friends, your problem, my beans. -

I changed from trying to be friendly to shoot everything that moves. It's safer that way. -
New wallpaper found... :)

PLEASE. bring the starting gun back for use new players.
Osaka (DayZ) replied to blaxar's topic in New Player Discussion
Why would you want a gun right at the start anyway? Yes it is more convenient than bare handed. But fire it once and it's like having the entire village after your ass. I prefer a hatchet first. silent kills. Find a crossbow and pick them off silently. There's no need to rile up an angry mob of undead Russian hooligans. -
"It's still in alpha chill ze fuuuk out." What he said. I haven't gotten a hacker on my ass yet, not sure why, I have been playing two days straight, and died twice for saluting someone. But no hacks. But I'm sure things will be fixed, hackers are the least of my problems. I just hope they fix the graphic errors. they give me a heart attack thinking my GPU just suicided. And zombies shouldn't be able to jump at me through walls. Things like that matter... :) Just enjoy the game.

Why do people just shoot? and how do you survive?
Osaka (DayZ) replied to ozal91's topic in New Player Discussion
Pretty much new to this game, I haven't gotten much of my steam posse convinced to play yet. But all in due time, the game is really awesome. I currently just play the hermit survivalist. If you want to play alone, then after you spawn, just rush the large towns until you found some good medical items and a hatchet, matches, hunting knife and a water bottle. Escape the towns alive, because mostly they are a warzone with projectiles wizzing about. Just head for the forests. kill some cows, and refill your bottles. Whenever you find some fair weapons do deal with zeds, I prefer the crossbow, then at night try to raid some villages, or barns for extra supplies. That's how I managed to stay alive alone.
