Player activity heat map w/ travel routes - Also my random day Z tips
Blakbewwy replied to LeninTheRed's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd turn up the heat up north, and perhaps nerf the southern area. This is actually amazingly accurate (in my opinion anyway) but places like Cherno and Elektro aren't as dangerous as they used to be. All the bandits have realised now that these cities are 90% filled with new people trying to get basic gear, meaning the bandits have rubbish loot, and that places up north such as Stary Sobor are much more frequented. Cherno and Elektro could almost be considered safe in servers with around 10-15 people (any more and it's probably still dangerous). But honestly, when I was in Stary Sobor some days back, and I was server hopping (sorry, I get impatient) for loot, I joined servers with only 1 or 2 people in. And, the weird thing is, in some servers with only one person in I still managed to find someone else in Stary Sobor and either shot them or was shot. Same thing at the airfield, but the airfield seems a little safer due to it's mass size. So, actually, I'd rate Stary as the most dangerous hotspot in DayZ because there are just so many people there. And it's also a good place to find a red or camo UAZ, a bus, and even a helicopter (I've actually seen a red UAZ, a camo UAZ and a bus there at once!). Also I'd add a new colour, maybe green or something? While yellow is mainly travel routes (I'd put that as true, I frequent the empty roads often and sometimes go off-road), green would be more dangerous and better looting than yellow, but then the danger and good loot are much rarer than in yellow. I'm saying that most large groups, or small groups, tend to set up their camps on the western and northern forest areas where very few landmarks exist and where very few people travel due to its lack of loot. It's also the place where hidden vehicles are likely to be found, especially if you travel at night. This means that, while finding hidden vehicles or camps would be time-consuming and quite a rarity, the actual loot yield would likely be way higher as people will be hiding their valuable military equipment and such here. So if you make an improved version of this map with an additional colour like I said and also more concentrated hotspots in the north, I think this would be pretty much spot on. Cheers! EDIT: Also, I couldn't help noticing the map seems to have an extended North barrier and that Grozovy pass's incoming road is coming from the East rather than from the South. Is this an outdated map where the world was different? I'm using this map - http://dayzdb.com/map -
Yellow Smoke Grenades, are these legit?
Blakbewwy replied to Nahorn's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah they're awesome. Found a camo UAZ and, along with 20 AK rounds, 10 SVD rounds and some other nice stuff, a yellow smoke grenades. And 10 of those really insane RGO grenades which deafened me for 5 minutes. They don't spawn in normal military areas, not sure green ones do either (but I may be wrong). Basically, there's one for every UAZ in a server and that is just... insanely rare. Like, rarer than mountain dew. -
Hacker on US 2337 named ThaSnipah (no pictures or video)
Blakbewwy replied to Dakota''s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Shame. In future, it's probably a good idea to just log off if you see anything suspicious going on, even if they don't actually attack you. Best not to get involved with these things. Bit concerned you can't tell what age he is between 8-18 because you probably couldn't say a wider voice gap. -
Instant death upon arrival on a server, teleported to the coast and lost all my gear, but not my stats
Blakbewwy replied to Kafein's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Now I spawn in prigorodki, still with nothing. Great :( -
Instant death upon arrival on a server, teleported to the coast and lost all my gear, but not my stats
Blakbewwy replied to Kafein's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Just happened to me, but thankfully left my car shrouded in some bushes and I didn't have TOO much on me. I haven't been near a ghillie suit either so it's not that. Spawned in the off-map plains with 0 gear, and joining another server now to see what will happen. Shame to lose my ALICE though, and all the basic gear like hunting knife / map / etc which take some time to find. -
Evolved Zombies - They Stalk the Forests
Blakbewwy replied to zak757's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Awesome. Just completely reminded me that, at the end of the day, DayZ isn't overly scary. It definitely needs something to spice up the mod's horror a bit, and perhaps this idea. I think it should be nerfed a little bit though; this practically makes forests more deadly than the cities which doesn't seem quite right. However, as a rare spawn and perhaps not having 4x as much health (just because they're smart doesn't mean they are super strong all of a sudden), or maybe even less health than the average zombie. Also, love the idea of a ghillie suit. The general DayZ player would look at a zombie and not interpret it as a major threat; but anyone who spots another player will almost always perceive them as a threat and try shoot or hide. Now, if we can't even tell the DIFFERENCE between zombie and player... :D -
Loot does actually spawn in vehicles, but yeah that's still probably not natural. I don't think it has to be a hacker; in fact, I know what COULD have happened. When I was trying to fix up a car with no wheels in it's spawn point, I emptied my inventory into it so I'd have room for wheels and then went around the town. Maybe you found someone who had put their stuff in it and then wandered off to find materials to repair it. Or, it could just be a hacker. But loot does spawn in vehicles. I found a bus with a car wheel, a few sodas and binoculars before. Another one I found just have binoculars. Found a red UAZ with a map in it, too.

Rewarding bad and good players. My idea
Blakbewwy replied to Acheron (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Now you're just being childish, any mature person would just accept their mistake rather than trying to find every single mistake the other person made. If you are going to continue like this, get off these forums. You aren't wanted. -
Rewarding bad and good players. My idea
Blakbewwy replied to Acheron (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Acheron, please cut the attitude. If you are going to practically troll someone who dislikes your ideas, that means you are only accepting compliments. If you only accept compliments, you don't belong on this forum. Rocket has said himself that NPCs are a terrible idea (so have other members of the team). You also appear to have ignored half of my post. I accepted and built upon one of your ideas in a positive manner, yet you seem to think I want to "hold back the game's development" by judging me on a single post on a single thread. It's nice to have people who add ideas, but not people who are rude and will negatively reject any criticism they receive. Especially the fact that I was quite obviously giving my true opinion on it, rather than lying just to make you feel happy. Acheron, the community won't accept people with this kind of attitude so please accept negativity, as that will generally happen in everyone's lifetime; some more than others. Telling me to think outside the box is also rude. Summed up; I am assuming you're of a young age and that you will only accept compliments so I suggest nobody replies to this post and instead make your own. You haven't even read entirely what I've said as you have made points which aren't even relevant to what I've said, and I generally presume you are immature. And for the love of god, spell my name right. -
A way to help curb the amount of pointless murders by people.
Blakbewwy replied to Bratalise's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Because every mass murderer in existence is now a crazy maniac? In fairness, I imagine most of them are perfectly sane. No, it's a terrible idea giving any consequences for bandits or any benefits to not being one, because this is a completely realistic scenario. People in real life (I imagine, and hope, not as many as there are in DayZ) would resort to violent measures in order to survive, because the average person probably is desperate to survive and would resort to very bad circumstances to survive. I'll put this another way. The only reason any nerfing should be done is if a game aspect is unfair. Bandits are perfectly fair, because most of them are still using legitimately-gained resources to do what they please. While us survivors may not like bandits, that's not a reason to change DayZ from a social experiment to a linear RPG. -
Some of these are fine, and would probably tie in fairly well if they were done properly. But I find a large portion of your ideas do not fit into this "social experiment" at all, and one I was particularly amazed at how terrible it would fit into the game. Namely, your idea of "vending machines". So, in this empty, barren wasteland there are numerous vending machines which magically contain rare and useful items (and somehow weren't destroyed) which change loot every day by themselves. Then, you can collect a currency and spend it in these OP vending machines. This would just wreck the system and I believe it would practically ruin gameplay for the majority of users. As well as this, something like this would probably happen: 1) Go to Cherno or Elektro, sit in a church/building and open fire with a cheap gun like the Lee Enfield or Winchester on the zombies. Could easily gather 10-15 clips in a short time span and use them all up. 2) After collecting the masses of credits, these could be spent on more ammo (probably more than what it took to kill the zombies) and repeat the process 3) After about an hour, probably have enough money to splash out on massive backpacks, high-end medical supplies, and millitary-grade guns and loot I could spend a paragraph whining about how much I detest this idea but I think I've expressed it enough. Now, your idea about fishing grabbed my attention. However, it would have to be limited to certain spots and be nerfed down substantially so people couldn't just infinitely gain high-end loot by simply sitting and spamming their mouse button. I think something along this would work: Every 30-60 seconds, there's a 30% chance for something to be caught. 50% chance for trash loot 20% chance for a raw fish ~3% chance for a canned food/soda ~1% chance for some rare-ish loot (maybe medium-grade ammo like CZ-550) Something along those lines. Even if not any other loot apart from fish, I like the idea of having another renewable food system so people aren't forced to simply hunt for meat off animals.

Rewarding bad and good players. My idea
Blakbewwy replied to Acheron (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
NPCs? Quests? Jesus, this is not an RPG. Adding human NPCs has been brought up countless times before, and I guess quests have a fair bit too, and generally hated on by the community. Rocket even said it; this game is more of a social experiment than anything else. It's not even a game. Giving it any form of "system" would ruin the fact that the game's mechanics are run purely by player decisions, and not by developer-made events. This game is shaped by the people who play it. This means that, if it was given a "system" and if there was still civilization, the ever-changing mechanics would be set in place and DayZ would no longer be what it's meant to be. Sorry, but I personally disagree strongly with this idea. Just giving you some criticism. -
Definitely liking the idea of more large-scale things like weather. Rain's a great start, as well as lightning (which doesn't actually do anything, in fairness) and could lead onto more interesting weather such as snow; or even more heavy variants of rain making temperature drop a feature to pay attention to. I mean, I'm not sure about other people, but I certainly don't even bother checking my temperature even if it's raining because it's extremely easy to keep yourself warm. In a few weeks of playing, I haven't encountered anyone who's had sickness (which you get from a low temperature or other people) which is a shame because I think it would add quite a nice angle to the game, of survivors being wary of others due to the risk of a virus. I just realised I strayed off subject a bit... Anyway, I like the idea of contributions from home and it being voluntary. I doubt Rocket has the resources - but correct me if I'm wrong - to pay a few hundred developers. Think of this like the Team Fortress 2 workshop! The devs end up just using the community instead of creating their own stuff, and it works.

Hello! Since these things are a pain to find, I'm wondering if anybody is selling one (with/without ammo, I can find some) in return for some other nice gun. I can offer an FN-Fal with a few magazines, also an AS50 with two magazines (not both, one or the other). Post on here if you've got an offer because I probably won't notice a PM, then we'll hook up on steam and find a server to meet up on, thanks! :) By the way, are there any rules about this, i.e would I be able to report someone on these forums for doing a fake trade? Also, are trades easy to do in DayZ or do people tend to run off with the items? I'm pretty new to this stuff. Cheers.

Bats could probably give away the location of snipers, and could maybe be used strategically by players as players could find an area with loads of bats and make a camp there. Not sure how this would be coded... Rodents; how would capturing these magically show you where tents were? I think you should ditch these. Besides, rodents do not steal guns. Cockroaches/maggots would be plain awesome, I think... Imagine the fear of running through Cherno while desperately trying to scratch maggots off your face. Ew. And, since rotting corpses are indeed rotting corpses, it makes sense! It'd only need to be as a 2D series of images on the player's screen so why not. Flying roaches; okay, but I think this would maybe give away corpses too easily. Besides, is there really any way to get past them? It would mean you would always have to blind yourself in order to loot a corpse unless you decide shooting at a swarm is a good idea. Locust swarms would probably work and finally add difficulty to looting barns as these are good sources of weapons for the freshly-spawned. Perhaps put them as an NPC and make the swarms patrol round the edge making timing necessary? Spiders and snakes would be great, as the forests are practically safe havens for players. The forests do need something which isn't a zombie to make them that bit more dangerous, as once you get a water bottle, matches, a hatchet and a hunting knife, you can retire to the forest and live in peace forever. That wouldn't happen! Frogs... Why? I don't think we need frogs, lol. Overall I think you are on the right track, but maybe spend half an hour doing a bit of trial and error, changing your suggestions to things which can easily be done by the dev team and would help make the game more interesting. Thanks!

bosses / special infected / or monsters
Blakbewwy replied to carnage88 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I can see where some of you are coming from, but I literally laughed at the thought of having Resident Evil monsters in DayZ. That would be horrific and ruin the entire thing! Same for things like bosses. Try think more small-scale. I've always liked the idea of more military areas such as bunkers, trenches and maybe even some armoury which only 1 of exists in the map containing loads of exclusive equipment and weapons. Perhaps these rare military areas could contain some type of more powerful zombie which comes in large quantities, maybe hazmat-suit zombies or some sort of bullet-proof armour? Basically, adding a more powerful type of zombie to give the game some variety but still keep to the realism would be great. I say, hazmat-suit zombies! -
I think we should spawn with whatever the lowest-tier backpack is. There's a few which just seem completely useless because the backpack we spawn with is already fairly decent. Also, like other people have said, make the ALICE pack and other high-tier backpacks harder to find because just sprinting into a super marking, aborting and rejoining is pretty much an ALICE pack in 5 minutes.

A good way to hide a vehicle better
Blakbewwy replied to Tyler_Sharp's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is a great idea. I mean, since this game is meant to be realistic, we should be able to keep our vehicles hidden while we have to log off. Since, in real life, we don't just "log off" for long periods while we sleep/eat/toilet/etc. -
Hey. Before someone says it, I know about not getting attached to your gear and everything. It just seems that the DayZ community has become so hostile since I started playing it. When I was first playing it, bandits seemed much less common and I could actually come across survivors who would help me, or I'd help them. Now, me and my team have to resort to killing on sight purely because EVERYONE on DayZ will try shoot us. I don't understand where this hostility started. I mean, the game is supposed to be realistic (which virtually all of it is apart from this) but we have a community of rampaging murderers killing anyone they see. :( I'm just curious as to what other people on the forums think; do you have to shoot everyone too? Are you a bandit yourself? Do you find it as annoying as I do that the only thing survivors do is shoot eachother?

Yeah, tell me about it. People just don't have the spirit or creativity!
