Biology, technology, a biosynthetic blend of the two. I'm a huge gamer, always pointlessly splashing out on those flashy collectors editions and dribbling all over them like a child with chocolate ice cream. DayZ, Minecraft (tekkit), hell; virtually every game under the sun. Loads of old games too like Viva Pinata and the Worms series (4 mayhem!) if any ancient person still knows what that is.

Bio
When I was born, I hopped onto the computer and played Minecraft. As a teenager, I played Minecraft. When I reached into the vast region of adulthood, I tutted and sat back down to finish building my 714,920,014th house in Minecraft. In my death bed, after an accident where all my fingers fell off, I became a professional toe-gamer. I am currently in a massive colourless void and am playing Minecraft as we speak.

More Secure/Permanent Means of Item Storage
Blakbewwy replied to ThuggleS's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I love solution one, or POSSIBLY even two. Not three though, seems a bit weird. Because, at the end of the day, there's one massive and unfixable flaw in DayZ which takes away from the realism. The fact we cannot be online 24/7. In real life, we do not simply log off and come back on later. In real life, groups would take shifts and similar to guard vehicles/tents and make sure they aren't spotted. Since this is virtually impossible to do in DayZ unless someone somehow never leaves the computer for several days, we do need to implement some sort of unrealistic (possibly) feature to counter our offline status. However, I think simply digging a hole and making it look similar but not identical to the surrounding area would be a brilliant idea. It's perfectly feasible and realistic, and means we don't have to shove our vehicles in bushes and trees - who would do that!? - to prevent them from being discovered. Shower of beans! -
Yes, I'd love to spend a week getting all my rare gear and vehicles back, it's such fun having all my work wiped off like a clean slate. /sarcasm off, hackers will have their stuff back in minutes. Enough said.

Train crash for sure. After reading the original post, I laughed at the thought of having an automatic, infinite-fuelled, ever-running, indestructible train sucking the realism out of DayZ. But I did like the idea of having a fixable one. Then, a few posts later, I realise that yes; fixing a train would result in you losing it minutes after you log off since people can just follow the tracks with a vehicle, or even just run, until they find it. Despite the fact I think sniping a train, or sniping FROM a train, would be awesome (along with all these other hijackings and such you talk about) I doubt the ArmA 2 engine would cope with being able to actually move around in a vehicle as opposed to sitting down / driving it. So; train crashes! Reasonable-ish loot but nothing overly impressive since people can just walk down the tracks to find it. Light military loot like basic AK weapons and sidearms would be okay, as well as some ammunition. I'd say they have loads of canned food and drink in, maybe 10-15 of each, as they're likely to be cargo trains if you are talking about wagons. If not cargo trains, then they are commercial trains which would leave virtually no loot apart from a tiny bit of soda or food.

A way to deal with bandits, maybe?
Blakbewwy replied to Bob Sherunkle's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Guys, stop being so mean. Think of the realism in this, I can't believe rocket left it out. Once we kill too many people, we magically become zombies! IT IS PERFECT!!!! RIP bandits! Sigh. I thought this post was going somewhere but it's another person who whines about dying too much (sorry but that's what it is). If you don't like bandits, go play some other game because this game is 80% bandits. Also heard that about 60% of all players are hackers. -
Yes! A solution to having to take lives just for small things I need like ammo. Not being a full-on bandit, but me and my small trio do occasionally go on a hunt for more ammunition and weapons. It'd be nice to still leave people with the supplies it can take a painful amount of time to get like the map, hunting knife, hatchet, all the stuff that's useful but we already have; rather than having to slaughter people. As to Axelord, I'm not sure about it taking two hits but then a one-hit would seem a little too OP. The ammunition would have to be scarce for this. I think there should be one gun, and instead have varying ammo types for the different knockout times. It's not like firing the same dart with the same chemicals in is going to have a different time because it was fired from a different gun. I also say stick to 30 and 60, maybe just 30; 120 seems too much. NOTE: Trolls/bandits/troll bandits could easily stockpile ammo of the 60/120 and shoot someone with it every time they wake up, leaving them in a never-ending coma which they can only escape from by switching server. This would have to be rectified with a delay of sorts, ~20 seconds.

You have my beans, sardines, pasta and frank and beans (technically two beans you lucky thing). Crafting, from what I've seen, doesn't appear to have popped up yet and I patrol the suggestions forum like a prison warden. Since we can already turn .45 ACP ammo into M1911 ammo, crafting is partially in the game but I believe as well as you that this needs to be ramped up somewhat. Unfortunately, it is unrealistic how we can convert 6 bullets for a revolver into 7 bullets for a M1911 just by twiddling our fingers but hey. Anyway, there'd have to be some form of equipment required to craft whether that's an item you can carry such as a toolbox or some form of workbench placed within the world. Perhaps you would need a toolbox to use the workbench (I know there already is one, but that's more of an industrial-type toolbox so we'd need a more standard one). A GUI wouldn't be necessary, but using it would open your inventory then right clicking an item would bring up the list of what you can craft it into (only what the player has the resources to make). Nice work! I'm a little braindead at the moment so i'll brainstorm some recipes for you when my brain stops being a knob.

I'm a hero. I have a big gun. Do you shoot me?
Blakbewwy replied to HappyMushroom's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A fifth option to hide myself until you leave would be nice. Otherwise, I'd shoot you despite not wanting to simply because of the DayZ "perpetual spiral" which is always growing bigger and fuelling itself. This perpetual spiral starts off as the first people playing DayZ. Most of them are nice to eachother and help eachother, but one of them is a bandit and shoots anyone they see. Many people begin to distrust and stop helping people, meaning many feel isolated and do not trust anybody. As more and more bandits crop up, peaceful survivors begin unwillingly shooting on sight because the majority of people they see do the same. Now do you see where I'm going? More and more people end up shooting on sight due to a lack of trust, and even I am part of this system. The heroes don't live long enough, and so there are so few (I've never seen a hero yet, on a ~5 player server for a few weeks). So, eventually, we could end up having 98% of DayZ players shooting on sight, despite that being unwillingly. That's the perpetual spiral (that I came up with and think is actually pretty cool). I imagine that, despite the fact that most people have said they wouldn't shoot you, most of them are probably lying or unaware that they would shoot on sight unwillingly. -
DayZ, as a mod is now dead - roll on standalone
Blakbewwy replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Plenty of empty servers which are still hive to settle down on. The one I've settled on rarely has over 5 players, and I'm in a trio. It's usually just us. Much funner to avoid hackers and generally avoid other life, it feels much more desolate as if we are literally the only people here; and, on the rare occasions we do find people, they are usually just like us and we end up trading plus getting along just fine. Even better, virtually every vehicle in the server is in it's natural spawn point so we have a nice ripe batch of vehicles to choose from. Going to go find a huey some time as well, and go gun down every son of a beotch in cherno (zombies that is). -
Huey loses petrol when it's not used.
Blakbewwy replied to The_Greed_ITA's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah literally everything needs to be 100% repaired or it leaks fuel. I think it's pretty slow, so you could still probably fly to Cherno and drop a friend off to collect the necessary parts. -
Yeah happened before. The guy I killed sunk too, and I presumed he was a hacker. Guess not.

Has someone compiled a list of vehicles and the items that spawn in them?
Blakbewwy replied to nyk_nunya's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Exploring the forums, I've found various opinions. Though I imagine some people drive around and loot all the newly spawned vehicles without taking them (which would explain why people seem to find different things) I can contribute to this list as well. I believe the loot may sometimes vary depending on spawn point, but that's just another theory to counter my previous. UAZ (at altar) (I've looted this 3 times) - 20 AK clips, 10 RGO grenades, 1 yellow, 1 red, 1 green and 1 grey smoke grenade, 1 water bottle, 1 camping tent ATV (one east of elektro, and another which I think belonged to someone else near balota air strip as half the loot was missing) - 1 camping tent, 2 cans of baked beans, 5 heatpacks Huey helicopter (explored the forums/wiki, I haven't found one) - ~5 soda cans, night vision goggles Red UAZ (at stary sobor military camp) (looks like a red car, not a UAZ, I've looted this a good 5 times) - Empty all times I've visited Bus (at stary sobor) - Binoculars, map, ~5 soda cans VS3 Civilian (explored forums) - Military loot and medical supplies (?) If I can I will add to this list. -
Keeping vehicles when changing servers?
Blakbewwy replied to josh1803's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah what Kerwyn said. About saving vehicles, I'd recommend you only settle down in a server with very rare server restarts, or none at all. Despite the fact I have saved my UAZ several times, on my server's monthly restart I find it about 5m to the left of its previous location (sometimes it ends up inside trees and getting it out is a pain in the neck) and with all the loot inside it reset to the default UAZ loot; smoke grenades, water bottle, tent, 20 AK rounds, 10 SVD rounds. Even though having to stick to one server can seem a nuisance, if vehicles were saved cross-server then there would only be one person/group with a huey in the entire of DayZ. And if they were in the same position in each server, and the person flying it was in one server, then anyone in other servers would see a huey flying without a pilot. Now that'd be a sight. -
Difference between M67 Frag and RGO grenades?
Blakbewwy replied to ale.chr@gmx.net's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Haha yeah, please do not make the same mistake I did. In an attempt to collapse the fire station, I threw a grenade inside it. RIP me.
