    Underrated Weapons

I've still not seen one, and to be honest, I don't even find that much CZ ammo either. I'm not too lucky with weapon spawns though, so its not surprising. I thought they were heli crash spawns only. I've only seen one, and that's where it was. Still kind of wish I had taken it.

    My personal tips

Well after the tragic story, my DayZ tip seems kinda futile, but here goes: Looting by sight is good, but remember that some loot spots can spawn loot that is sunk into the floor. I've noticed it mostly in stair wells, but a few times in other places. If you're on the stairs and see one piece of loot, it might be worth it to check it for others. I've found maps, compasses, etc. that way, even sidearms a few times.

    How hard procedural map?

Well, if I understand you right, you're saying each life for each player would have a different server, or at least each player would have one server for multiple lives. For one thing, that means over a million unique servers to accommodate over a million unique players. That would be really cost prohibitive. Doing the whole thing client-side would be an idea, but the resources required would probably be huge. I did have a question though. Did you mean that each player would have one map that would continually/procedurally generate new areas as they play, but they would keep the same map over multiple lives? Or, did you mean that each player gets a continually generated map that is new and different each time they die and respawn? Added to that, you said something about no players from past lives and no real life friends. I think that kind of goes against the concept of this particular game. It could work for something different, and even reminds me of some older console survival horror games. Survivors are people. People, in general, know that there is safety in numbers, so I think that it makes sense that we have that option in a game that pits you first and foremost as a survivor. If you can't group with people you know in-game or people you know in life, then you'd have a hard time grouping with people at all because groups need to trust one another to an extent, and you'd have no way to build that trust. The loot is an idea that has some promise, but I'm not so sure about it because of the part about any 4 sq. km area. That would make every town and village equally important. It sounds great at first, but then you might be missing something. If each town is essentially the same because you can find everything you need in a small-ish area, then why have more than one? Have one big city with all the loot you need and let it respawn often enough that people won't need to fight for it. What I mean by this is, you have no drama in those towns now. Nobody is going to fight for supplies that they can get anywhere (sure some will, but you know what I mean). The lack of supply in DayZ creates the demand. You have randomized loot that turns up in nonrandom places. Each place has a certain set of types of loot. People have to go to those places to get certain things. The small towns and villages don't have a supermarket, so if you need something that is likely to show up at one, you have certain towns you can check. It creates tension, because you don't know if someone is already there, if someone is watching it, if it will have what you want/need because the loot is so random. In your version, each area is basically guaranteed everything a survivor needs. It will take away that drama. You'd have all out war at a military depot because of the 1% rarity, but why fight over other resources when you can get them anywhere? Its 4am. :| So, I'm probably not making any sense. Sorry. I'm not saying that your ideas are bad, really. What I'm saying is that, in my opinion, they have potential. They would need work, like all ideas do. Refinement could make them really good. But, the game that would come out of them wouldn't be DayZ. I'm not sure they fit DayZ's concept at all. It seems to me like you've created something similar yet entirely different. (yeah, I know that was a contradiction :P ) I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in it, too. Maybe you should find some people who could help ya out and go make this. lol

    Underrated Weapons

I really like the AKM, but I recently gave it up for the M4A3 CCO. I prefer the red dot for use with the NVG's which is how I've been playing lately. I only get to play at night and low-ping night servers are just easier to find when every minute counts. It doesn't hurt that I can share ammo with the L85 I just found, too. I really liked the M14 AIM when I had it, but got killed pretty quickly after finding it and haven't seen another. I regret not taking the MK48 when I found it, but I wasn't sure how much ammo I would find or need. I need to give the Lee Enfield another try, though. PS: Is there a thread for Most Overrated/Least Liked guns? I tried a search and didn't see one in the results. Might have overlooked it though.

    Perfect Private Hive

I've actually never played on a private hive, but I've been thinking that I should give it a shot. The OP's criteria sound like a good place to start. Toilet Paper: under. Always under. My wife always gets it wrong.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

About Griff and a Community Manager for DayZ Mod & Standalone: DeathJester pretty much said what I was thinking. Sign 'im up! I'd trust somebody who has put up with all the crap on this forum (especially in the past few weeks) to get us information and wade through the filth now and then. As for the thread: I'm glad we got some news. I had adopted a wait-it-out policy for both info and the coming patch. edit: removed a question I had about 1.7.3 reguarding the woof-woofs. I realized that I'll know when it gets here. ;)

New at dayz and I have a problem...

Properly adjusted settings and a good server could help you a lot. It could also be your connection. I've noticed that my internet seems to slow down at about 3am every night. It has affected me in other games. In this game, I start to lag a bit, and the game gets a little choppy if I'm playing that late at night. GuideZ will be happy that somebody suggested his videos for once. lol

    New skin for -100k?

Honestly, I like the idea, but it probably won't happen in the mod. You might want to post this in the thread for suggestions for the standalone if it hasn't already been suggested there. I haven't searched or read the whole thread, so I don't know. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/38742-suggestions-for-the-dayz-standalone-thinking-outside-of-the-limitations-of-an-arma-2-mod/

If you're using a campfire (or barrel) to cook your Raw Meat, remember that the smoke is very visible during the day and the light very visible during the night. Try to put out the fire as quickly as you can once the meat is cooked and get out of there as fast as possible.
  12. Their size would be more manageable, but I'm starting to see reasons Elektro could work. You wouldn't need nearly as much defense around the coast. Mostly just to defend against combat loggers I guess. But I see the smaller towns like Vybor and Pusto as having perimeters that are probably close to the size of what you'd need to defend just on the northern edge of something the size of Cherno or Elektro. The problem I see with those two towns (Pusto & Vybor) is that they're a little far north for newer spawns that they may want to help, and not to mention, they're dead in the middle of an area with higher level loot therefore lots of PvP'ing. I guess it's all down to how many people you can get to help and what you prefer to do. I'd like to just be the proverbial fly on a wall for this. Its bound to be entertaining in some way. heli crash sites question

I was wondering this just the other day. Good question.
  14. GiggityGump

    I dont even..

It sounds to me like you were teleported to the debug forest/area while you were still spawning in and a script user killed you there. I'm not sure though. I guess you could say its just an educated guess 'cause I saw something similar happen to a couple guys on YouTube. I don't think there's really much that you can do about it. It sucks. Sorry. lol Was that an unfinished thought?

    ....the horn that didn't/doesn't exist.

I'm with Valkyrie on this. Kill yourself and run to get your stuff back. Can't think of any other way, honestly. Never heard of the horn till now. Also: You're mad because you didn't go to the Thunderdome?! Uh. Ok. I don't understand why, but to each their own.
