    Battle Royale/Hunger Games

I'm deeply interested in that, but remember the "rules" of Battle Royale ? If nobody dies each 12 hours, everyone dies. Each 6 or 12 hours, one zone on the map is forbidden to get into, so that you gradually come closer and closer to each other. And finally : The game takes place on an island that has no random weapons laying around, only abandoned houses that may content food, water, electricity or other common resources, so if you spawn with a Fork as your weapon, you'll be useless to everyone you meet unless you are lucky to loot a corpse. We would need a custom map, because 225 km², and it being not an island doesn't really suit the whole Battle Royale thing, but i'm pretty sure that about half of it would be enough for a last man standing, ranging from 6 to 12 hours per session ( nobody could play three days in a row like in the Movie, or even 7 (?) days like in the manga ) I think the concept of Hunger Games, as being Games watched by many people, should be interesting, since there's weapons and random bonuses that can be given to the survivors, and there's much deadlier traps, since it's more in a fantasy way. But there's no such thing as a Grid Map with zones that are forbidden, there's just an asshole chief of program that throws fireball at people when he wants them to move. I think the main problem would be camping, maybe the need for food and water should be increased, so that it fits a 2-4 hours = 24h cycle, so it would really be a SEPARATE mod from DayZ. I could help with design choices, but I'm no coder or artist. I also think that unlike the Survivors of Battle Royale, who know each other, and are already friends or enemies, everyone is the "extra" guy that comes in just for fun, to murder people. You see, it'll surely be a deathmatch mode, since I doubt there's any benefits from teaming up with someone, it would be a fragile alliance that has no purpose other than doubling the chance of you getting spotted, or to get shot while you eat or drink.
  2. As someone else said "I bought ARMA2 just for DayZ, and I must say that the purchase was worth it." I just launched ARMA II by itself ONCE, to train in the boot camp, and configure the graphics and controls to get a smooth experience. Then DayZ.

    The Iron Bandit

So basically, you must survive by killing others since you can't scavenge food by yourself ( i guess hunting animals is forbidden ...? ), and since getting food mean dropping all of your equipement for two can of beans, you're either undergeared or starving. I don't really like that challenge. I don't like the whole dropping your gear thing. It would also be annoying as hell to click each items and then click drop everytime you loot someone. It really needs polishing if you want the Iron Bandit to be a GREAT idea.
  4. Damn, now i feel soft compared to all of you.
  5. I'm serious here. I'm definitely a Bandit during the night, stalking and murdering anyone who tries to hide. Because it's thrilling, it's fun to play hide and seek in pitch-black, only hearing each other's gun once in a while. It's a stalking game mixed with a waiting game that is very intense and rewarding if you win it. But damnit, thoses people who run around with a flare are no fun to kill, there's no challenge, they're not even trying ! I usually even reveal myself and join them rather than shoot them. I just can't enjoy a kill I didn't earn by my skills being better than someone else's, outsmarting someone that tries to outsmart me... It's not about being superior, it's about being challenged to a duel and winning it. Someone carrying a Flare at night is like not even turning around in thoses old Fashion pistol duels. So... are Flares kinda protecting thoses coastal survivors or what ? Do you guys shoot thoses Flare-carrying people anyway ? Would you shoot a guy that didn't even turn around in your duel ? ( Don't get me wrong, I DO shoot people that I didn't outsmart during the day if I see them first, but that's usually by self-preservation of my beans, when I don't take any risks of getting shot at )

    Becoming Friends With Strangers Stories

Kaipio : He saw me at the Docks of Cherno from his rifle scope, he told me to "STOP", and we joined up for some long term fun when it turns out he needed me to help him with a Blood Transfusion. Jorwol : I was in Pusta, all alone, for about 30 minutes, I looted the entire town, then, when I turn around the corner, and saw a crouch-walking survivor. I had good loot, didn't want to take a chance, couldn't even see his name on this Hardcore server... I shot one bullet in his head, and apologized in the chat, saying I didn't take the risk. He told me that I could have asked him, then I told him I wouldn't take his beans, and i'll wait for him to come pick up his gear. That's how you make friends ! Shoot them in the head at 20 minutes into the North, tell them to get their gear back. Swinzly : We were the only ones talking in the side chat, in a silent 40-men server. We decided to meet up, and we ended up being total douches to everybody else, lying, killing and looting all thoses pesky mute survivors. Well, what can I say ? Bandit fun times = the Server isn't so silent after all :3 If you meet any of thoses three guys, trust them with your life, but make sure to chat a lot. Nobody likes a mute Lunatic.

    DayZ Stories

Have you ever been stuck in a building because of Bandits ? I joined up with my friend after I died in the big mall in Elektro. We used bloodpacks on ourselves since we were both pretty low after a few zeds on each other's route to the building. Then, someone asked in chat : "Are you two guys in the building friendly ? I have a bandit skin, but can i come ?" Naturally, we had to think about it for a few seconds, but I eventually said "Yes", knowing that we both had full health, and my friend had an AKM with a lot of clips. 2vs1, should be okey if he looks suspicious. My friend, out of curiosity, looked outside by the "balcony", with me following behind, and got MELTED under an automatic weapon's fire, from ABOVE ( note that we were in the middle of the building, we only climbed one set of stairs. ). I immediatly tried to find cover on the other side of the building, being down to 5000 blood, and bleeding. I got lucky I didn't get hit in the leg. At this point, I was really pissed at being lied at, but also very excited. It turns out there was TWO bandits around, and they had planned on flanking us and killing us from both inside and outside, by lying to us (which is the 1# thing I personally hate), but the ambushed shooter snapped when he saw that we were both out of cover. I was stuck with low Blood, just enough so that I won't pass out, and with only a Crossbow I found where I took cover, two steel bolts, and a half empty makarov with some useless one bullet magazines. I placed myself right outside the doorway to a small empty room that had the Crossbow, to my right, with my Crossbow ironsights on the stairs in front of me, and with my sound volume up to the max. And we played the waiting game. I personally tried aiming in a lot of directions, to see what is my max range to the right before I get blocked by the doorway, I tested out the reload speed of the Crossbow, to know how many seconds I must survive after the first shot to be able to stick another pointy thing in the attacker, I trained my mouse movement, to turn around and get inside the small room without getting blocked to the sides by the Crossbow. I felt like a badass, like Agent 47 from Hitman, planning my every moves should someone come up the stairs trying to get me by brute force. I didn't know if taking two bolts to the chest would be enough to drop a full health target, but I told myself I might as well do as much damage as I can. After a while, I asked "Still waiting ?". One of them revealed that he sees me from the windows ( probably waiting for me to either pass out, or move somewhere that'll let the other one get inside and shoot me. ). I replied, half-jokingly, that I would flip him off from the windows if I could. About 8 minutes of pure silence, except for the distant makarov shots that are always there in Elektro. I never moved ( I had found the perfect position to have the most cover while being able to aim in every direction ) or looked behind me, even when one of them tried to shoot at the windows and get a lucky shot at me, which he didn't, reassuring me that my position was the safest in the building right now. I couldn't access the body and weapon of my friend without getting either shot at, or rushed by the stairs anyway, so I probably made the correct decision to wait in the doorway. Finally, after about 6 more minutes of steel nerves and deep concentration, looking at the chat and hearing footsteps, I heard a Zombie moaning somewhere below me, having just spawned towards my back. Then the Zombie started to scream, and pound on something. I heard an AK shot. I snapped, I ran as fast as I could from my position and jumped right out the building, zigzagging, and not looking back. I heard some AK shots, and at least three bullets went right past my ears ( I was still with max volume by the way, the adrenaline rush was amazing. ) But unfortunately, I aggroed many zombies by sprinting, and one of them attacked me, causing me to bleed. So I just ran as far as I could from Elektro so that they wouldn't get my beans, and then made my last stand near some bushes to hide my body even further. The End. The fun part is that they completely forgot about my mate's corpse with the real Beans, since when he came back about 10 minutes after I died to the zombies, he got all of his stuff back !

    To the Virginia 18 Players...

That looks kinda fun, but i have to raise question : How often do you engage 7 PEOPLE IN A GROUP ? It seems suicidal, even if you have snipers uphill, I'm pretty sure that it'll backfire on the attackers.
  9. HuggeTheDruggie : You were in that cabin, with zombies pounding on you, and got shot before the zombie ...? It was you ...?

Will seed when done, i was about to make a thread about updating the game being VERY slow and if there was any way to get the files without having to download them... I guess you just hit the spot !
  12. You, unknown bandit, you shot your last bullet and hid inside a cabin in the Factory parts of Cherno, where zombies were pounding you one by one. I came by to help a survivor, shot the zombies with my Makarov, and when i went inside the cabin, i saw a bandit skin with a makarov pointed at me. I didn't think, and shot three times in your head. Only 5 seconds later, i realized i heard a click from your gun. You were trapped in there and harmless as a kitten. I really regret shooting you. Even as a bandit hunter, this wasn't a hide and seek in the dark night. It wasn't an honorable way to die. I never knew your name, your body didn't even tell me for some reason. But i'll say it out loud : even if I find Bandits very fun to kill, with no downsides whatsoever to killing them... the Bandit skin must die. It makes me feel like i'm in the old Apartheid with the Bandits being discriminated against, rather than Blacks. I see one, I just think about killing it, without thinking of him as another survivor, even if rough, even if half crazy, even if he can, and will backstab me, even if he'll shoot me while I think about trusting him or not... I would have bandaged him and dropped a mag or two, and left. There. That's what i would have done. And if there wasn't that damn skin, I would even chatted with him, and asked if he wanted to join up. It just felt wrong. So wrong.

    Robbing people at point blank?

Again, we come back to the problem that there is no delay to disconnecting... But otherwise, I must say that i often check on my random partner's bags. But I ask about supplies if i want any. I'm that kind.
