  1. A few weeks though during that time I've only been playing a few days per week.
  2. There's a lot of hate on these forums (from all sides). I think a lot of players bought arma 2 to play DayZ expecting some big AAA title and are a bit disappointed at learning about the state the game is in. It's as you said: this game mod is being tested and that is a very long and frustrating process.

    Never playing this game again.

Solid: I can't speak for most other online games as I don't play on public servers that often but in Arma have never encountered a hacker that eventually got away with it. You also have to keep in mind that most 'hackers' are just people that found some post on 4chan that describes how to spawn weapons in game. They don't have any actual knowledge of how it works and have never heard of BattlEye before. Another thing is that Battleye is specifically updating it's program to target cheats used in DayZ (see the recent surge of raging about global bans). Of course there will always be the very few that do know what they are doing but that still doesn't mean they won't get caught.
  4. It's ammo with a lower muzzle velocity that doesn' go BOOM as much as other ammo

    Well,that sucks.

Now you're comparing apples to oranges. Clearly a lot of people have an incorrect image of what DayZ is. Endless space is as you said a GAME. Games are usually developed by studio's, these range from small indie groups like Mojang, over medium sized studio's like Bohemia to the big boys we all know. The thing is all of these games are worked on by teams whose job it is to create that game. They are paid for it. The goal of the studio's that create games is quite obvious: make money. How do they make money? By satisfying costumers. For that reason they'll (almost) never release an open alpha or beta that is highly unstable. Mod's on the other hand are developed by individuals or small groups. People that enjoy a game they bought and want to improve upon. They spend hours, day's and weeks or their spare time to make something that they and perhaps other people enjoy. Their goal is not to make as much people as possible play it but rather to make a contribution. That's why they can release something that is bugged and unstable: they have nothing to lose. Numbers aren't important (though they do like them). All they ever wanted to achieve with the alpha was that they could run a few servers at the same time without to much problems. They just weren't ready for 200K+ player and had to make a lot of improvements in a very short time to keep te servers running.

    Never playing this game again.

The hacking problem will mostly solve itself. Right now a lot of people hack because it's seemingly easy to do with some scripts. What those people forget is that these servers have battleeye running which is very good at detecting these hacks, resulting in numerous people being banned daily (and not just from DayZ, I mean from ALL arma 2 servers that run BE. Once people start realising that their game becomes worthless they won't risk it anymore. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your gear and that it's causing you to stop with this mod but please keep in mind that DayZ is being developed for free by a very small team. That team isn't some almighty coding squad (though admired as god-like by many). They are normal humans that make mistakes in their code. P.S. I'm so proud of myself: I didn't use any sarcasm.

Amazing game takes dive. Player worries.

Personally I like the new update. It adds a lot of immersion to the game. The perma death already made dying something you wanted to avoid and this update reinforces that. I think it will greatly reduce the amount of people that spawn and just walk up to the nearest city shooting everyone/thing they see because they've got nothing to lose. About the lightning,i t's just a part of the game. Learn to live with it or go play another game. I'm quite sure the devs have no intention whatsoever to change the day/night cycle. As Rocket keeps saying this mod is all about making choices: -Is it worth the risk going into cherno to find food and water or should I check out some barns and deer stands for a weapon first? -Am I going to take the risk of playing at night or not? Will I use torches? Should I throw my torches or hold them to conserve them? -Is it safe enough to walk or run or should I crawl to remain unseen? -Is that player trustworthy or not? Should I shoot him? What consequences will that have for me? ... The devs aren't there to make the mod the way you want it to be. This mod doesn't present any goals or reason behind it. The devs present you with choices and they want you to make those choices. And whatever you do there is always a tradeoff. That is the essence of this mod. I don't get why people keep complaining about all these thing. There are monstrous threads about it full people of people that want things their way. Those threads have been around since this forum was created. Did it make the devs change their mind? No. It's the best thing about all of this. The devs don't care what you think of their mod. I don't think that will change as long as they enjoy it and people play it.

Can my new laptop run this?

It should run it though you'll probably have to play at very low settings.
  9. Chernarus doesn't have that many types of enterable buildings, if you have played Arma/Dayz for some time you get to know which ones are enterable and which aren't. You get to know if a building is enterable just by looking at it from a distance. Though if you're relatively new the above tips can also be quite usefull.

Six Launcher vs Worrom vs Manual Install

As far as I know that's the way to do it.

    Right Click?

Kriz, are you sure you have updated all the folliwing files: dayz_code_v1.5.8.2.rar dayz_equip_v1.2.4.rar dayz_sfx_v1.1.1.rar dayz_v1.2.5.rar dayz_vehicles_v0.1.rar And just in case, you are right-clicking on the big icons in your inventory, not the list with their name and the small icon, right?

    Build 1.5.8 rolling update

Hotfix solved the getting kicked (at least for me). Great work from the dev team getting on it so fast!

    Build 1.5.8 rolling update

Same here, never had it before. It's not giving me a reason why either (e.g. wrong dayz/batteleye version, ...). Is it just too busy or could it be related to the update?
