Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.

Or you know... You can just play on 1st person servers. This is why I don't understand the bitching. You guys have an option yet you choose to bitch about 3rd person still. -

Dude inside could've easily heard him go around... Should be fixed... What? 3rd person isn't broken. It's never been broken. If you don't like how "unfair" it is then play on a 1st person server. People saying 3rd person was just tacked on... lol. DayZ was born on ArmA 2. ArmA has always had 1st and 3rd person. Early OFP had 1st and 3rd person. It's always going to be an option in the game. Get over it. I'm getting real tired of these 1P hardcore elitists who think the entire game should be 1P only and anyone who plays 3P is a scrub. What difference does it make if I can peek around corners or see people over fences? They can see me too half the time. It's not game breaking. Oh and I definitely pray they never add over the shoulder perspective. Whoever thinks that's a better looking view is fucking mental. -
I just want a semi-modern bolt action sniper rifle. The mosin is nice but it's such an old rifle. The SVD is cool, I'll definitely pick it up on release. Hopefully it'll take 7.62x54 like it's supposed to.

Skateboards? Yeah that really fits in DayZ lol...

In a survival game with severely limited resources, WTF...
goldtoaster replied to tootights (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It's funny how people still forget to realize this game was born off of a clunky military strategy simulator. Advanced melee was never possible in the series at all. In OFP and ArmA years back I saw a few melee combat mods but it was all just scripted animations where you never did anything. Just click the action and watch it go. If you want some real melee combat go play something else because it'll be a very, very long time before any of that is possible. -
I've only had a few situations where my pistol is viable and absolutely needed mostly because I ran out of rifle ammo. Other than that they're pretty much only for show. Honestly I'd rather have pistols as the norm main weapon instead of rifles. Make military rifles very rare and make civ rifles/shotguns rare. Hopefully the loot system improves drastically. I think it'd be a bit more realistic if more people had just civ-esque weaponry while the handful of big dogs have the best weapons.

Ah yeah, forgot about that.

They've had the same effect since Operation Flashpoint. It's been that way for years. Probably end up seeing a different effect when they come out with the remodeled engine.

Yeah I'm aware. Was just saying you'd have a better chance of finding an AK in military bases than an MP5 in a police station.
-
I'm sure the MP5 is rarer than the AK. I found 2 AKs in a row just hours ago in the Balota long barracks. You have to remember that there's always a chance that location has been thoroughly looted. I've checked dozens of police stations as well. I just managed to find one in a town nobody ever visits. No magazine though yet.

After hearing about you can now pin fishing hooks on boonie hats and tuck knives in combat boots on 0.47 EXP I thought why not be able to tuck pistols into your pants? It would make sense to be able to always have a pistol at the ready somewhere on you. I always liked using chest holsters over some tactical vests because you can actually see the pistol and it seems more realistic then instantly taking a pistol out of your stuffed backpack or vest. Little details like that make a game for me. Like this Maybe get to choose where the pistol is placed? Pockets, front, side, etc...

Why I kill other players (outsided of defense/necesity):
goldtoaster replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
I usually just KOS now. I used to ask if friendly all the time. It's funny because I had literally asked if someone I saw at Balota was friendly just 30 minutes ago. I was in a good mood. I had the chance to kill him multiple times, he kept asking if I was friendly over and over again which seemed odd since the only reason he started talking on mic was because I asked first so I knew he heard me the first time. I was inside one of the tall military housing buildings near the hangars on the top floor, ended up shooting me in the head killing me instantly through the window from ground level on the outside as I was looting something. That was after days and days of terrible sessions where game glitches and lag ended up killing me multiple times after I had gotten all the gear I could have wanted. One of them I spent 2 and a half hours walking from the eastern part of the map to the other side on accident because of newly added roads which got me lost. Now it's either KOS if I have the chance or give them fair warning to stay away -
Well that's the thing' date=' the idea isn't new. There's tons of zombie mods available for ArmA 2, ArmA and OFP. I still to this day do not understand how DayZ got to popular so quickly. I'd suggest browsing http://www.armaholic.com Home to tons of addons for ArmA 2, ArmA and OFP. There's not much I can suggest myself. I haven't actually modded ArmA 2 for a long time.
-
Okay' date=' tell me what do you like about DayZ. Maybe I should point you in the direction of other zombie mods for ArmA 2. I'm sure they'll be better too without riding on ArmA 2's back. I mean I'm SO sure DayZ would be amazing without the large maps, collection of weapons, vehicles, player models, buildings, simulated weather, physics, night and day cycle, simulated ballistics, simulated wind that affects bullets, trees, grass, etc...I want you to tell me what DayZ is, in a nutshell. What does DayZ contain? Let me lay it out for you. Okay, what you generally have in DayZ is, mission scripts, UI scripts, a few custom zombie/melee animations, some custom object models, custom zombie sounds, custom soundtracks, hrm... What else is there? Can you name something that DayZ NEEDS from ArmA 2 to make it as interactive and hardcore as it is now? Oh wait, hold on I can answer that for you. It's ArmA 2. DayZ NEEDS ArmA 2 to be as good as it is now. Trust me, it's not like that. Go into any Warfare server and you can do whatever you want. Take an F-35, fly around and shoot Russians. Nobody will tell you anything to do. Unless you're playing on a hardcore ACE server...Yeah that's a different story.
