I pitched a tent today, kept one in my backpack - when the server rebooted on its normal schedule - the tent was gone...... I decided to pitch another tent in the middle of the grass in the open and it disappeared when the server was respawned. Never mind the sleep option - which made my gun and ammo disappear.

I did some research and can't figure out what the issue is, but I know its related to the sleep function which causes ammo and guns to disappear. For now will be saving in vehicles until something gets resolved.

How To Detect Hackers & Dupers - ViLayer

Best thing you can do is find dedicated players on your server that call it home - and make them admins - Logs are not in real time, only way to catch cheaters in real time is to be in the server when they start blowing up towns and spawning multiple vehicles (or flying helicopters around that are hidden off map). I have 10 random people as admins on my server, it restarts usually 4-5 times a day due to cheaters blowing up vehicles etc. If you update your script detection it usually catches people right away, for example spawning a vehicle or weapon crate. -

Everyone screams "I hate hackers" when they try to spawn items and get banned, wah wah stupid little cheater. Have mommy buy you a new steam account and stop trying to cheat. Guns are not hard to find. -

I played a game many many years ago called Tradewars 2002 - it was a turn based game where you had to do hours of endless tasks where Scripts made things easy. A war broke out between 2 types of players: Scripters and non-scripters. For example you'd get 500 turns a day, a scripter could run a script to "Buy and sell" between 2 ports for say.. 50 turns - it turned an hour into 5 minute deal. Scripts that are legit to improve the game, I would Vote for - scripts that alter, edit and cheat in a game - I go against. Difference was in my old game, we basically turned 2-3 hours into 5-10 minutes - HOWEVER people started altering the scripts to attack players - fire one missile then get out, eventually the scripting got out of hand and many servers were either FOR or against it. I was for the scripts, at the time I was in college I had no time to diddle around hours on hours for little fun - I enjoyed doing my 500 turns in 20 minutes :) -

Can we possibly use the correct term for this - CHEATERS not hackers. Big difference. Cracking is something you did back in the late 80s and 90s to get the password to your school's computer to change your grade. Hacking is breaking into the schools computer via outside the school to change your grade. Cheating is copying your neighbors test answers. Cheaters are cheaters, get it right! blah -

1.7.2.5 does introduce something - I haven't had graphic glitches since it came out, even when I roll back to 2.4 - kinda weird with 2.4 I had glitches- but ever since I updated arma2 and dayz to 2.5 then rolled back I had no problems what so ever (my friends still do). We usually don't play on our server, we simply raid other servers then come back and dump the loot off in our base - kinda annoying upgrading to 2.5...raid for an hour then come back to drop it off. But frankly its how were playing for now so we can stash some stuff until the veh/tent bugs get fixed. -

You don't even know how much is on a credit card, clearly you are not an adult yet. Why don't you go phone Grams and tell her you need more money on your Prepaid credit card champ, that or go work for the money like everyone else, its only a few burger flips away. -

I used to work for server hosting companies, if only you kids knew what they had to deal with all day long, besides the usual whiny kids. If you can't afford $49 for a server - boohoo. In the real world Defcon has to make money, they use that money to upgrade their servers and pay employees. Do you think dealing with hundreds of whiny brats all day is fun? Look at this kid - credit card declined, so guess what happens to his server? Why should Defcon leave the server up? he didn't pay for it - infact he canceled his account instead of waiting until the morning. I remember years back when they let me sell servers to get a discount on my CS server at the time, each money i'd have a few people recommend me so I could get my server free - each month they'd deduct from the recommendations - sometimes it was free, others I paid full price. I'm not saying some kids didn't have problems with them, but from experience - I had my server down for few days, they furnished me a NEW server, for 1 month free over the whole problem (data center got flooded or some crap in atlanta). I don't blame Defcon, pay your bills and they can pay theirs. Its what the world does. -

Sounds like the credit card daddy gave him declined and in fit of rage he cancels his account like a baby. Know whats funny I've had your CS servers since 2003, never had a single problem with them - for 5+ years it was up and running no problem. I completely forgot about Defcon when I ordered a dayZ server, interesting enough I've had my defcon Dayz server for 3 months now, couldnt' be happier. No down time, all problems fixed within 10 minutes top. Can I get a discount for remembering #defcon on mIRC when you first were selling CS servers? :) just kiddin -
Vehicles do not save on 1.7.2.5 thats why my server runs 1.7.2.4.

My server is 2.4 for now, simply because of the vehicle's and tents saving. Why would someone hop to my server if they can't repair and save a vehicle? makes no sense. I'm trying to have a fun friendly server, i just wish we had side chat like some of the other servers I ran into. -
Every server is littered with em, look for servers with low numbers to reduce the chance of having cheaters.

Was on US10 raiding some tents, and watched 3 Helos fly over head, anytime a server has over 10 people I don't even bother sititng around long. (my server recently spiked to 25 and I watched entire town of electro get blown apart by grenades) -
There are far to many cheaters, no sense in trying to update a ban list - I banned 15 cheaters this hour alone for spawning and destroying a helicopter. How can 15 helis explode when the only one on the server is crashed in the middle of a forest with no way of getting it out? let alone 15 in one hour? Exactly.

Today I've been slammed with hackers, enough I rolled my server back to 2.4 just to try to research whats exactly going on and this is what i've come up with. Secondly - The helicopter is a novel item - I have it placed off the map in a secure location no player would find it unless they teleport, and they always do find it and crash it somewhere causing some kind of nuclear explosion which can be seen for a good distance. Another is spawning vehicles, but for right now just limit it to pipebombs for example, any way to specifically ban anyone who uses one?

Sad part is DayZ is runned by hackers, like earlier today I got slammed with 6 hackers who spawned over 15 vehicles inside of a hanger. Even worse kids thinking its fun to do this and ruin a pretty fun game because they suck at it.

Only 1.7.2.4 servers will save tents and vehicles, 1.7.2.5 only saves Tents if you properly set it up. With only 10% of servers being 2.4 you are outa luck for now.

I don't think they allow it but I am keeping my server at .4 version until the vehicles/tents can get saved, rather useless since .5 does not save anything. Sad part is nobody plays .4 version, so its useless to downgrade :\
