I get the use of this, but I think there's charm in having to go outside, risking to get shot or killed by zombies.

I see in your signature that you have 17 helicopters on the server. Why would you do that? 3-5 choppers and you'll have choppers in the air a lot. 17 is such overkill. What is the deal with dogs? What is autorefuel? What I like about the vanilla settings is that it is well balanced for 20-50 players. People fight over the resources there are. Night time is a game-changer that makes moving around less dangerous. It is easier to gear up. It makes players with night vision the only real threat.

Hello guys, I've got a few suggestions. Tutorial A thorough single player tutorial would be epic, it would really help out new players. I believe DayZ(the alpha) as it is now is losing future customers because of this. It is simply too overwhelming. Everyone who didn't have a friend to show them around knows this. Remember, just because it worked out for you in the end that might not be the case with many others. Memorizing the map and what's in it along with figuring the way to blend into "society" should be the way it is of course. Servers and sustainable income New! Teams A way to team up. Perhaps a way to use a specific radio frequency(maybe closed frequency) for communication would strengthen the team aspect of the game. Then it is not only for the people who know each other, using Skype, Teamspeak, Ventrilo or Mumble, who can team up efficiently. Showing the players who has a GPS on the map would be cool. This should of course only be possible if you have a GPS yourself. Leaving in Combat I won't get into too many of the obvious issues the alpha has, you've probably heard about them more times than you'd care to remember. One thing though, check out the redux mod of DayZ. The way combat leavers are handled is perfect, kill them off. Make them understand that it is not tolerated. Bullet impact within 50m should also get you in combat, in this case I'm thinking of poorly aimed scoped assault rifle shots towards the leaver scaring "it". You could also make hearing a gun being fired get you in combat. If a way to team up is made, it could be made so people were allowed to leave in the vicinity (50m-100m) of allies, but not neutrals/enemies. Player Models I there should be motion in the player model when turning around. This will make player movement visible from further away, especially when proning. As things are now, it is too easy to blend in, even with this change you'll still be a ghost if you know how to blend in. If in doubt what I mean take a look at this: go to 5:40 I don't know if this has been changed since the release of this footage. This is all I have for now. Post your comments comments and opinions please.

The blood trail idea seems good. Most people patch up immediately so it won't have a major impact on the game. The blood would have to dessipate after a while. How long I don't know.I wouldn't care much for the rest of it though. It wouldn't be DayZ. I agree, but the timer should be longer than 30 secs. If you are pinned by a sniper it is too easy to just log out as it is now. 1 minute would be better. It should also be easier to get in combat. Shots fired within 100 meters, bullets impacting near you. These 2 things would greatly improve gameplay, then you are not allowed to leave if there's action nearby... in other words, combat. -

It is easy enough for someone who knows how it is done. You make it so servers has to fill in an unique ID that can only be given by them. If the unique ID doesn't match up, the server won't launch. The server would have to be live with the official network, but the server itself would be private. The advantage of a system like this is that Bohemia can have a database of servers. That means that users can vote on server quality individually, and possibly, file complaints. The latter usually involves a lot of work on the official side and that wasn't really what was intended. The danger of a system like this is that the server files can be hacked and distributed for cracked versions of the game. The only way to counter something like this is to make the game much more enjoyable if it is played live and official. Hackers always find a way to get around security.. focusing on keeping the product fresh is better than wasting effort on extensive remodeling of the game to prevent hackers. Remember that it is humans who change the structure of security, as well as humans that try to get around it. -

I think you're the first one I've given beans to on this forum. I think what is being talked about here will serve great as a backup plan, I like the idea of the standing around after combat disconnecting. What I see coming, if a way is found to get it and it isn't properly handled, is what I've already expressed. Then they'll have to do something about it, and probably after a portion of their players call it quits. Servers and sustainable income: A way to make a sustainable method of income would be to, in some way, offer private servers for cash. Maybe even let private people offer their services as hosts. These hosts would of course have to be scrutinized in every possible way to prevent foul play, bad connections or admin abuse. Maybe being forced to have a system scan performed once a day and a live anti-hack protection installed, one that scans only the hosts own computer. This way the only meddling from Bohemia, or whoever will be in charge of that, would be to check that program for inconsistencies in the anti-hack and the system check once a day. To get a permit in the first place, one should have a 3-6 hour connection test for stability and speed test initially and then afterwards a short test ensuring that nothing has been altered connection wise. Opinions? -

I dont think you read my first posts. I proposed myself that they should be forced to stay in game after they combat logged. No matter how they did it.No shit it has happened that someone disconnected on me. How much have you been playing the game? It happens at least once a day for me, sometimes up towards 5. -

Didn't get back to you on this.A script can be entirely client side. If a certain corrupted file causes your game to crash when you perform a specific action, the script can provoke that file to get corrupted on command. This will be interpreted as a client side game crash and make you disconnect. -

So you are saying that it will punish people who doesn't combat log? How can my suggestion in any way be interpreted like that. It only affects the people who are in combat, and if you disconnect in combat, it is a combat log. 1*) The disconnect button is greyed out in combat even as it is now. If your buddy fires near you and gets you in combat, that is just too bad. If he is firing for no reason he is a douche and it is on him, your team mate. So indirectly you as well for teaming up with him. If he is actually shooting at something then you should get in combat too. So what I see is a fair/fair situation. 2) Boohoo, suck it up. As I've said numerous times, if your internet is so bad that it can't maintain a proper connection and disconnects while in combat, it is on you, not your opponent. You seem to forget that you're robbing your opponent of a kill the way it is now, that is just as bad. Only the way it is now the leaver is rewarded. 3) And so what? If you're in player vs player combat, intentional or not, you should not be able to leave(look at 1*). We also established that player and zombie related combat should be treated differently. 4) Who says it is going to be like that in the Stand-alone? The combat logging system would be built into the game, if a 3rd party add-on messes with that it breaks every rule it is supposed to uphold. 5) Again, a standalone can take these things into account and discriminate. A restart should not get you killed. It is a restart, not a client side dropped connection. Sounds like you put fair-play fairly low on your list when you're gaming. -

By the way, I'm interested... how many times did you try to get signatures from people in town to give your ISP a wake up call? How many places did you advertise? If you don't do anything about it it is on you. I was the one together with 2 friends who gathered 100 signatures so we could get better net in our small town. -

I think you got my point though. I would suck it up if I was the one with the crappy connection.. Been there, haven't always lived at home, haven't always had a stable installation of my computer. Windows ME was a nightmare, it was reinstalling every week or every other day. If you're one of them and not willing to suck it up.. Too bad. Being rewarded for having a bad connection is just horrible, worse than dying. -

I guess people don't see it as more of an issue that 2/3 or more of the players you meet beyond the cities or in the hills above cities disconnect on purpose to save their gear. I find it unbelievable that people are so willing to let something stay so broken. I'm telling you, it is the game as it is now. It is not your connection. It happens to everyone else. 512kbit is enough to play the game, it is not that package intensive. Also, I live in a town with 1.8k inhabitants. The town I lived in before that, 11 years ago, had 10Mbit available to it. That village had less than 200 people, far away from any larger city. I know that Scandinavia is has been in front in the race of coverage, but my friend in Jugoslavia has 5mbit and he lives in the middle of nowhere. I regularly play with people in Dubai. My ex-girlfriend from South Africa was a gamer as well, THAT became a problem, she didn't really belong on EU servers, it is simply too far. My point is.. If people really don't have a connection good enough to play this game, they don't belong in online gaming. -

Please read it again. I edited it. Digging at other countries is fine, and I assure you that anyone in range of you have access to "good enough" internet as well. If they don't prioritize that then they don't prioritize online gaming. The desyncing, and probably disconnects too, is not on your side. It is because of the way Arma 2 and DayZ works together(or doesn't) and servers. I am running on a 60/60mbit fiber myself, I disconnect and desync too.. Actually I desync all the time, but disconnecting in front of a guy that had a legitimate drop on me wouldn't be fair. My ISP is the most stable in a country where universities has 10000Mbit Good that you reminded me, I didn't think of zombies. They should discriminate whether it's zombie only or player combat. I really doubt I'm a "son" to you, you assuming so says something, sorry to say.EDIT: Oops, I did it again?! I am a mess when it comes to finishing my thoughts. That's why I need you guys. Just try to be a little more open-minded. -

1. I'm only talking about how the inventory works, how you set up a team(if any such thing will be implemented) and basic stuff like that. Maybe unlock tutorials for the things you encounter. Like when you pick up a map, a tutorial is unlocked for it. 2. Awesome, I've missed that. Still, some of the aspects of what I wrote might come in handy, could you provide a link? 3. That is just too bad. It can be abused if it is the way it is now. If they keep allowing a way for it to be possible for people to leave in combat, at least let their body hang around 5-10 mins after they disconnected, no matter what. Having a bad installation of your computer or a bad connection should be your problem and yours alone. Not the guy who was about to kill you, if you're not about to be killed then there's no problem anyway. Pulling the plug will be interpreted the exact same way as a connection loss, the server just sees it as an instant stop of exchanging packages with the client. If you are allowed to leave from a crash you can be sure someone will find a way and script a way to provoke that type of crash. People even charging money for a script like that is probable. In my opinion, those who exits a combat in any other way than not being in combat any more shouldn't have an advantage, end of story. It is game breaking that people are allowed to vanish into thin air just because their life is in danger. EDIT: I've edited this text numerous times since I posted it. If you quoted it I apologize, please read it through again. -
This would be an atrocity to the game. The beauty of DayZ is that you are only as good at performing specific tasks as you are at playing the game yourself. If you want increased melee damage or speed. Learn how to dodge, weave headshot, every time.

Items don't disappear when put into full bag
AtotehZ replied to Buffjesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since you went to such lengths to prove that items don't disappear it would be rude not to respond, albeit a little late. Items did and do still disappear when putting them in full bags, cars etc. Yesterday (Jan. 25) I tried 3 different situations where my items disappeared. I was tired and should've known better since I know the bugs, but: I placed a weapon in my car and it disappeared, it did not show on the ground. I was cleaning up some trash loot for new things to spawn and picked up an another bag, the 6 slot one, by accident. My Alice Pack with a SAW and some tools in it disappeared. I put an engine in the bag with only 5 slots left(very similar to your video), it disappeared. I do these things by accident sometimes and it doesn't always result in a lost item, but sometimes it does. -
I'm aware that this topic is very old, but if other people should need guidance in this matter like I did, besides what Nekosan said, I think I can help. Relogging a server can sometimes fix these problems. Actually, most of the time.

Hey guys, Very simple question here. What does the pistol in the interface mean? I don't seem to be able to find out ingame, it just keeps on flashing for apparently no reason. All screenshot, videos or threads i found online were outdated(no icon). Hope my question isn't too dumb, I just came back after a very long break.

Best Gun For Close Range Players?
AtotehZ replied to iamevmiester(USM)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The best weapon at close quarters to mid range if you don't care about how loud it is is hands down Mk 48 Mod 0. It is pretty rare and can only be obtained at NW airfield and choppers. 8000 damage, red dot sight, full automatic. If you want to be silent it is the M4A1 Camo SD. This is again very rare. As was already said, a hatchet owns as well. Sneak up, rush the rest of the way, and finish him, FATALITY!! With a little practice you can get a lot of headshots, they kill instantly. Early on I prefer a combination of a primary weapon that can be heard 80m away by zombies, a revolver and possibly an enfield for range. It is hard being specific about these weapons, you'll see why when you look at the stats, it's usually the person who sees the opponent first that wins. Remember that you can carry 2 weapons as soon as you get a backpack upgrade. A primary weapon is 10 slots in the backpack, secondary is 5 slots. (when you swap weapons, be careful not to move the weapon you are holding into a full backpack, it will disappear) http://dayzdb.com/da...apon-comparison Check out this page if you haven't already. There are lots of other useful data on it.
