Building your own gun, something for the standalone.
Ipurgepeople replied to Puffy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think it would be an interesting feature, but I'd have to say if such a thing were to be implemented it'd have to be extremely hard to acquire, and the options would need to be very limited. Such as... Customizations: Flashlight Red-Dot Reflex Scope (Assault Rifles only - no scopes on pistols for the love of god) Suppressor Camo paint job I wouldn't think anything more than this would be a good idea, and this is stretching it for me, personally. I'd think the option to attach a flashlight or a suppressor (and thus be able to only use SD ammo) would be perfectly fine. I'd LOVE to have an AKM with a flashlight, for instance. As per the flashlight attachment idea, I would like to highlight that I think that you starting out with a flashlight is fine if you can just attach it to your primary gun (perhaps requiring some scrap metal and a toolkit!). Especially the military flashlight. I'd love to see that on an Enfield or something. However, this should go in suggestions not general, shouldn't it? -
I'm quite genuinely interested in this as well. You understand it's unbalanced, needs tweaking, and yet seemingly claim it to be the only way to play? Also, for those of you who are maturely taking part in this wonderful debate, beans to you for attempting to keep it civilized!

I sincerely doubt it. The dayzdb just recently added the lingor map, and lingor's been around longer, from what I can tell.

If you find the zeds to not be a challenge, do something silly and MAKE it a challenge. I will constantly look for ways to make it a challenge. If I have an abundance of ammo, I may go and shoot off my DMR in a town, quickly switch to my other weapon, hunker down in a building (My favorite is currently churches for this) and get as many headshots as possible. Don't do body shots. Headshots. I believe my record was something like 61 kills, 61 headshots before I got a body kill doing something like this. It makes it more challenging. Or, try NOT moving into a building to kill any aggroed zombies, without losing them in a bush. The fact of the matter is, DayZ is what you make of it. If you are one of those obnoxious COD-kiddies who will sit and camp cherno for kills, while I have absolutely NO respect for you whatsoever (And want to punch you for ruining the experience), then that's what you do. If you think zombies are not a problem because you use every available resource to make them as easy as possible, then that's your choice. If you want it to be difficult, then impose limits on yourself. That's the great thing about this game; it's possible to do that. I know I've mentioned this before in other threads, but the concept of making it more challenging is nothing new. For instance, playing an RPG game with only items, no magic. Or doing it without leveling up your skills. Or playing through an FPS using only your pistol. It isn't that PVZ is too easy, it's that you're MAKING it too easy.

This made me think of a point I'd like to elaborate on a bit more. It was briefly touched earlier on, but I feel it desires more attention. From what I can tell here, most of us who are alright with the non-PVP aspect of the game are that way because of the kill on sight (or COD-style) mentality. Personally, if I felt that I had a CHANCE of seeing someone and NOT getting killed instantly, I'd go and try to make friendly. Perhaps offer some beans, or a transfusion. Problem is, because of the majority of players holding a KoS mentality, it forces us friendly players into one of three groups: Conforming the the general public's "KOS" mentality and/or becoming a bandit like everyone else Spend more time dead and on loading screens than time alive since you won't kill someone who does you no harm Move to low-pop, no-pop, or no-PVP servers to lower the chances of getting murdered while taking a bathroom break while hidden in a tree This is the pattern I've seen. Most of these "friendly" players will start off as friendly, but after a few days of being killed by literally every single person they encounter, they will adapt, and go with the flow of banditry. The select few that don't are either those casual carebears who will absolutely not kill anyone, and those (like me) who simply choose to lower the chances of running into someone in order to play how they want to play.

This is also a valid point. There's Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, and dozens of others. I've played (some of) them. I still play Black Ops occasionally when I'm in the mood to just up and slaughter a ton of people. Why don't you boot up COD if that's what you want to do? Or Halo? Fact is, this is a survival game. While I will agree (POSSIBLE) PVP is an integral part of the survival theme, KoS and cod-style gameplay is not. People camping on sniper hill and alt-F4ing when someone shoots them isn't surviving. That's CODing. I'm not trying to point fingers here, or flame. I'm simply stating that if you want a game where you can PVP without consequence, there's plenty of those around. If you want a game where you can kill zombies, following a story, there's games for that (Such as Resident Evil). however, if you want to SURVIVE the zombie apocalypse in the way YOU PLAN IT, then that's DayZ. And no, camping cherno isn't "surviving" in this sense.

This. Everything in this is extremely well said. Beans for you, mate.

Personally, I prefer the survival aspect of the game, and trying to slaughter as many zombies as I can instead of playing COD + hunger meter. These no PVP servers sound like traps, though, so I'll just stick to low-pop servers instead.

Gotta be the best name in all of DayZ
Ipurgepeople replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed. I'm curious as well... -
Yeah, I don't have any issues either. Your location states that you're from China. Perhaps it has something to do with localization or chinese keyboard input not functioning correctly with the WYSIWYG.

I present ***DayZ - KING of the HILL*** [Video]
Ipurgepeople replied to rhinocrunch's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
That was absolutely awesome. I remember the "first even in dayz" the church sermon that was ruined by hackers and grenades. The private server is definitely the place to do an event, as you can level the playing field. :D -
To be perfectly honest, I don't know the OP, don't rcognize the name, but I do know the server. There's a bunch of absolute racists on that server that I'm amazed hadn't been banned. Perhaps it's finally being cleaned up. This is a PRIVATE HIVE, for anyone confused by the OP's "offi" status of the server.

Faith in humanity? I'm not even SURE anymore! [2 vids]
Ipurgepeople posted a topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Alright, so, following the same footage from my first session on this specific private hive server, I have to share this bit. Keep in mind these two videos take place very close together, there's only about 4 minutes between them, where I was just lost in Elektro, since I tend to stay far, far away from there. TL;DR: I spawned, found a boat, stole it from a bad sniper, drove off with it, got run over by his van, spawned outside of elektro, and then all this happened. So after this video, I'm all happy cause there's one of the nicest people I've met in this game! And then this happens... I just don't even know anymore. -

Yeah that server is a private hive, and the skins are all wonky. I got a bandit skin after killing one guy in self defense, logged in the next day with hero skin, which I have had ever since on that server. -
He probably banned you guys for being racist, or for spamming, or for being general obnoxious brats. PLENTY of all of the above on that server. I mostly ignore chat because it's all racist comments and trolls. I doubt james banned people for no reason. He probably just got sick of all the bullshit.

Is Devil's castle a popular looting place?
Ipurgepeople replied to IncognitoNico's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So I hear, it's pretty popular. i've been there a couple times on low-pop servers, but don't see the appeal aside from the fact that theres a ton of open fields around it so that any approach would be spotted fairly easy making it a sniper's wet dream. -
DayZ - I have lost faith in you.
Ipurgepeople replied to kingpootis102's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You took weapons from a hacked in box. You deserved to be killed that time for being part of the problem. -
Not everyone has shoot first mentality. Just most people... Instead of this, just listen to some bob marley while you play, then if you get shot you won't care, :D

Ipurgepeople replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well, if joins from the past count (I was playing on your server last week I believe), then add Ipurgepeople to the whitelist, please. Reason I stopped playing there though wasn't the scriptors but the absolutely unplayable lag that was occurring (15 minutes for zombies to spawn, another 10 minutes after that for items). So unless this issue was resolved, I won't be playing much there, sadly. -
"Brutal" difficulty hive concept.

So, you want Thunderdome. -
First, scroll to your M67 Frag Grenade, then throw it.... Boom, dead. Seriously, this is why I keep a grenade on me at most times.

5 Dollar bounty to kill player Zheratuhl
Ipurgepeople replied to zed23's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I feel the need to make an idiot feel even more like an idiot. You think the US Dollar is the only dollar, but you fail to realize, Canadians use CAD - Canadian Dollar. Hits a little closer to home than Belize. :) -
Is there any car repair service people out there that want to help
Ipurgepeople replied to Man vs Wild's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have a motorcycle on a server that I managed to find, and while joy-riding I managed to find a Ural and a Bus that I didn't feel like stealing from people... But, putting together a car is hard work at times. Wheels take up 6 slots apiece, same with engine parts. Fuel tanks take 4 slots, glass takes 2 apiece, scrap metal and jerry cans require 3 slots... So many slots necessary it's impractical to try and do it yourself if your supplies are out in the middle of nowhere. It would be a nightmare.
