You have to run arma as "Combined Operations" or it won't work right.

Are the hacker boxes indestructible as well? I've only run into one box but it was covered by a heli crash, so I couldn't hit it no matter what for some reason. I could loot it, but it was mostly empty already, the only thing I took was one AKM mag that I wasted trying to blow it up, lol

Stand alone suggestion about locked items (I searched =])
Ipurgepeople replied to birdman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This doesn't need any help whatsoever. There's enough deathmatch going on as it is. It doesn't need help. -
Banned for no reason at all!!!!
Ipurgepeople replied to turk72's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That sounds like a private hive server. If so, they have whatever powers they want. -
Don't alt-f4 out of loading screens though without opening another game window and loggin in first, or you'll get spawned on the coast.

Is this all on the same server? Is it a private hive server? Are you connecting to some server well out of your country/region? There's many different factors that could be a culprit here.

Green Mountain Question?
Ipurgepeople replied to Steak and Potatoes's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I haven't been to Green Mountain since I had my mountain dews. The time I did go there I ended up almost dead, but the poor soul who thought it was a good idea to aggro every zombie and run up the tower was more unlucky than I. -
No, no, no. He hasn't fought the hacker boss yet.

Speak for yourself, please, mate. Not all of us have reverted to KoS. Only when I'm surprised or trapped do I kill on sight. Such as when I was on a pitch black server without NVGs, it was storming, and suddenly in a lightning flash 5 feet ahead of me was a dude with a rifle. He died immediately as I was standing on my chair and breaking my left click button in his general direction. However, I usually play on low-pop servers to avoid the masses of hackers and KoS players, so I can play how I want, that is slaughtering as many zombies as I feel like and giving people transfusions and the like. Not all of us have adapted a KoS mentality. Only in extenuating circumstances does KoS come to mind.

I don't know about your connection, but even with hi-speed connection, some servers will take 20 mins to load, while others take 30 seconds. Try different servers.

Not sure if serious, or just troll. Just in case: Above the banner at the top of the page. Right side.

Green Mountain Question?
Ipurgepeople replied to Steak and Potatoes's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm part of the mountain dew cult. I have two of them. I need more. -
This is an amazing thread. One of a type I'd love to see a lot more of. :)

I like third person mainly because first person tends to give me a headache, especially when prone. My screen shaking around like I have Parkinson's is brutal, and I'm pretty sure if I was forced to look at that for an extended period, I'd end up with a migraine. Basically, my reason is medical related.

In that case, vote changed from no to yes. You should clarify that in the first post. EDIT: However, I don't want to see a zombie sniping people. They can't use the weapons for anything other than blunt force. They're not smart enough.

Building your own gun, something for the standalone.
Ipurgepeople replied to Puffy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Oh, thank you for the laugh, mate. I needed that. Beans for the giggles. -
Oh, you're saying that if you die via being munched, it adds +1 to zombie counter and you respawn? If so, then I'd be perfectly fine with that. Having to go and hunt down your own reanimated corpse (which shouldn't despawn) to get your gear would be a nice twist

Personally, while the concept is intriguing, I don't think this would be a good idea for the game. I can't really say why aside from the fact that it just "doesn't feel right" to me. The idea of having the possibility of turning into a zombie if you're eaten (and only if you're eaten to death) even if only temporarily does sound like it could provide for some funny stories, but in the end it would mostly prove as an annoyance.

Capacity of Tents .6 build
Ipurgepeople replied to Yoyo Hicks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
By my understanding, this means in total you could have: 10 Winchesters 30 blood bags 20 beans 5 alice packs all within the same tent. -
In a perfect environment I would completely agree with you. If the KoS mentality wasn't so deeply ingrained within the player base right now, there would be no need for no-PVP servers. That's the point I'm trying to make. In short, the necessity of non-PVP servers is definitely questionable, but to those of us who don't like to PVP, they're a nice alternative considering the insane amount of KOS currently in the game. Take away the 97% KoS rate (Figure pulled from my nether regions, but probably not too inaccurate) and the market of non-PVP servers will disappear for the most part. Not entirely, but mostly. As I stated above, if the possibility of NOT being killed on sight wasn't lower than the chances of finding a legit M107, I would play on high populated servers (If we completely ignore the hacking problem. This is a perfect-world scenario, so I'll add that in as well) because I'd like to run into players and run the calculations of whether or not I'm likely to be killed by this guy I just encountered or not. I'd like to have that kind of feeling when playing. Some of us play on the safe side simply to allow the option of survival instead of dying every 10 minutes.

Well, the fact is that rocket wants to add some sort of goal, an end-game. As to what that may be, or how you would go about doing it, we do not know yet - I'm not even sure Rocket knows yet. However, talent points aren't the way to go. As per your comment on the zombies respawning, that is indeed unrealistic, but is a core element of the game to make it a GAME. Same with players respawning. That wouldn't happen. But if you could only play the game once, it wouldn't be very fun, would it? Likewise with the zombies. if you have a constantly full 50 person server, chances are there will be NO zombies in cherno or elektro ever due to the traffic there. In order to keep it fluid, and keep it a game instead of a running simulator, the respawning is necessary.

Building your own gun, something for the standalone.
Ipurgepeople replied to Puffy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not the reason. Just because I'd find it amusing running around with a pink gun. That's all. -

I'd run around with a pink M16 for shits and giggles. -
This right here. I couldn't have said it any better than this. I find the co-op experience to be invaluable. So much so that I will RARELY play alone. Only time I play alone is on a certain private server where I just goof around with the admins when I'm bored. I've actually noticed a trend that on private servers people tend to be less likely to KoS as for most people the private server characters are just "alts" that they just mess around on. I've actually met 8 cool people on private servers in my first week playing on them, 4 of them on the same server on the same night, and 2 of them I actively play with, weeks later. I've only met ONE person in normal hive who didn't KoS. And he stabbed us in the proverbial back (technically he shot my buddy in the face) when we were rewarding him for his generosity in helping us. THAT was irritating, but is one of those paranoia factors.

Rocket has said himself that he doesn't want to add a form of currency to the game. That said, this isn't an RPG, it's meant to be more realistic than fantasy-based. However, on the case of improving stats, I think if something such as that were to be implemented, that it could be something along the lines of if you gut 100 animals (Yes, it's an absurd number for a reason), you have a better chance of getting more meat from some. For instance, if you have the improved butchering capability, and you kill a goat, you may get 5 meat instead of the regular 3 since you are experienced in doing so, and won't waste any. For a cow you can get a 12 or more instead of the normal 6-8 (I've seen a cow drop 12 pieces of meat before, once), etc. Anything more involved than this would take away from the realism that is DayZ.
