What is „The Infection“? a definition (-approach)
harley001 replied to joe_mcentire's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
True but the rage zombies from 28 days later didn't make them run faster then the humans. At pace was more like it. (In the intro to 28 weeks later the main character outruns a entire horde that are coming from the sides and everything). Also the zombies in 28 days/week later bite. They don't use super punches. -
I don't think battery would die. They don't die until you have used them up. Plus people have generators. I have two that could run almost the entire house. I think generators and certain items needing power would be a good addition to base building in standalone. Add more reasons to have that precious fuel. Also it would be VERY easy to make a alarm system. Just need some wires and some bells really.

map is too big. Players would barley bump into each other and the amount of time it would take to move around would be a bit boring. Also you never detailed the map. What environment would be? How many cites would it have? All you did was give a basic summary and then say "I want dese gunz and carz". No map modder is going to make map for you if they don't know anything more then that. Also forcing people into bridges that are meant to be deathtraps is usually a bad ideal...

I don't see the point of having it before server restart. Also suddenly spawning zombies everywhere sounds very cheap and i doubt it will be fun. I would rather the horde be a persistent horde that you can SEE coming.
-
What was the server? Some servers have modified damages. Also headshots do a LOT of blood dmg.

*reads entire post* Not. A. Single. Damn. Post. About. The. Topic. Well I like the ideal. Good for base defense. (though i am worried suddenly the wanna-be sniper elites are going to be doing this in elek and cherno hills.) Hmmm Guess I need to post something about me blending in... uhhhhh. Here. It is me wearing a snow suit during a blizzard!

I hate when games make you wait. It doesn't enhance the experience it just waste my time. Its going to make those moments when you spawn, run to the nearest town, get sniped, even more frustrating.
-
While we are wounding animals. Why not wound players as well. Like how Shane in the walking dead shot that fat guy (too lazy to remember name) to distract the zombies. Evil but effective.
-
There is only ONE way to mask your scent... We need zombie pee... Lots of it.
-
Reminds me of how I avoid snipers in cherno and elektro. I stash my backup and then start crawling. I would look like a zombie to the average player unless he looked very closely at me. The ideal could work but you would probably need to do what I do with your backpack.

[SA] Drastically increase vehicle number, make fuel currency
harley001 replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like it. With the amount of f*cking cars we drive it would make a lot of sense they would still be easy to find. Its fueling them and getting the engines to start that would be hard. -
What is „The Infection“? a definition (-approach)
harley001 replied to joe_mcentire's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What do you mean they have no inhuman powers! They run faster then us. They hit as hard as a f*cking bear. They don't get tired. I haven't seen any of these addressed in standalone. Zombies in standalone look the same, just less glitchy, and with proper animations/hit-boxes. And before you say "they are crazed and on constant adrenaline!" being on constant adrenaline would kill you. Also why doesn't our adrenaline ever kick in and let us run and hit super hard? If these zombies are infected individuals (who probably don't eat much. Not much living things left for them to consume) then why do they act like super human cannibals? -
Why are you people saying this would make the game too ez and adds realism to the game? It DOESN'T add realism or game-play. Please explain to me how holding the W button for a long period of time adds realism or enhances the game-play. For me it just makes my thumb hurt on those long treks... Autorun should be put in because it won't take away from the game and it would make long treks more convenient. People are starting to take dayz WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. its still a game. Holding down a button doesn't add difficulty or immersion. We won't get that kind of immersion until virtual reality games when you actually have to move your legs to make your character run. If you want your running to be realistic...go outside...and run. (or play QWOP) This entire thread has been derailed and is now just people insulting each other. This thread is dieing faster then my attempts in dayz to be friendly! (Quick tip. If you have steam enabled. Hold the W button, then press the shift+tab button to open steam overlay. Release W and close the overlay. This is a common steam overlay glitch where if you enable it while doing a action the action will keep happening until pressed again. To stop running just press w.)

1. Its in the suggestions, yet I barley see a suggestion on how to improve the aim. Just talking about how the aim is bad. 2. I think the aim is fine, I never have problems. I have problems with the movement system more the aiming system. The aiming system seems to be like most other FPS. Sensitivity and FOV is off but you can fix that with settings. The player turns around slowly in Arma because that's realistic. 3. You went into the cod stereotype about 3 times. Saying the that all COD gamers are noobs and don't do jack and just run and gun. As someone who barley plays cod but knows a lot about the playerbase... You are very, very wrong. Good Cod players customize their aiming layouts A LOT! Sure average cod players just play it the way it is, but so do all the average players on other average games. Can we stop using cod to try and say people are stupid? The using cod as your punching bag thing was old since black ops. 4. You're acting like you are the PC master race.

Humanity is like that stat that never goes away. So people can know if you been naughty! :o

I don't like the ideal of making them superhuman. They are zombies/infected. There is not one plague out that there that adds benefits. And plz no "its adrenaline because they are crazed" argument. Normal people would have adrenaline that would kick in when something is chasing them trying to kick them. Plus normal humans would be better shape. Everyone always tells me the zombies are normal people who have been crazed so treat them like it.

The animals should also make sounds. So this way you lure survivors in because they might be looking for some steak.

Pushing your bike downhill....... YOU GOT TO BE A MAN ABOUT IT! GO FULL SPEED AVOIDING TREE'S LIKE A BAUS! Real men don't avoid challenges! We take them head on! (literally) (In all seriousness I think adding the ability to push bikes would make them less of a hassle to ride.)

I just hope they are rare. seeing the streets filled with children will break my immersion (and be annoying since they have smaller hitboxes -_-). I am looking outside my window and I see mostly adults.

[SA] 20% chance that gun jams when firing below 50% weapon health
harley001 replied to pinapple900's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Jamming should be dependent on the weapon. Not just weapon health. The ak47 will almost never jam. (they is why militia groups use them. Easy to use, requires little training and maintenance.) Seriously. In Afghanistan they actually DUG UP ak47s that were from the cold war and they still worked. A m16 will jam in bad condition. A m16 was made for a well trained and organized army. It was designed for professional soldiers who can clean and take care of their weapons, A m16 rarely jams if its in good health. The myth that the m16 always jams is just a leftover from Vietnam when the m16 was first used. The reason I pointed out those two guns was to show how every gun is different. Some jam all the time. Some never jam. Some need maintenance. Some just need you to make sure there is no dirt in the barrel. Also leave King of Kong alone... Everyone makes a bad post once a while. (I have made several I regret) ;) -
"Oh sh*t someone is going to rob me. I need to hide my mountain dew!" *looks around* "Oh no. no where to put it....Only one thing left to do" *screams of pain* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HenZ4Z7w0qM I am sure you can guess where that mountain dew went...

Map Suggestion: Ukraine, In And Around The Exclusion Zone
harley001 replied to King of kong's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Don't see why not. Still can't think of much that would be in the exclusion zone. Unless its a what if story there won't be much of anything in there for fighting zombies. -
So I was thinking about all the suggestions about heli crashes or other military loot sources. How in addition to heli crash's or a care packages you can find the remains of a cherno military unit. Here is the concept in a nutshell. Like heli crashes you can sometimes randomly find what was once a patrol of the cherno military. It will be dead soldiers and dead zombies and maybe some destroyed vehicles (tank wrecks, ruined jeeps, ETC). The bodies will be lootable and will contain some low end and high end gear. Think things the Russian military would use, like AKM's AK 74's, SVD's, czeck backups. Maybe a grenade or two. This will be a good in between for heli crashes. And the loot you can find can vary such as. 1. Eastern European standard guns. (common) 2. Ammo. (common) 3. Survival tools. (Common) 4. MRE and water bottles (common) 5. SVD's, VHS, other Russian sniper rifles. (uncommon) (This part is being debated. May get crossed out) 6. RPG 7, Russian themed RPGs. (VERY VERY VERY VERY RARE...rarer then a helicopter. Though when you think about it, a RPG isn't very good in a survival situation since it replaces backup. But might be fun.) 7. Damaged Vehicles. Like a UAZ or a off-road. (rare, undamaged vehicles will be very rare) 8. High powered snipers (very rare) 9. Clothing. Standalone will let you customize you character. So maybe a few damaged ballistic vest will be lying around. (uncommon) 10. Night Vision goggles. Military flashlights. Any other rare military loot you can think of. (rare) 11. Medical supplies. (uncommon) Anything that has been crossed out has been removed from the suggestion because of feedback. Of course the loot will be guarded by military and citizen zombies munching on the bodies. Overall I think this is a good ideal since not only does it add more reason to get out of the cities and explore but it also fits in with the theme and dayz and reminds you that cherno was actually a place where people once lived. Currently we don't see many remnants of the cherno military besides a few zombies in uniforms. Leave CONSTRUCTIVE criticism or anything else related to the topic below. Don't worry you wont hurt my feelings. ;)
-
Maybe a dead survival patrol! More common then military patrol but still uncommon! :D (lets not get off topic though) The suggestion is still in the beta stages. Problem with dayz is its hard to tell if something will be imbalanced or not until you have tested it.

[SA] Getting rid of vehicle indicators
harley001 replied to SFRGaming's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What if something UNDER the hood gets damaged? A "pop the hood" feature would need to be added to see whats going on. I guess for fuel tank dmg you could just show some leaking fuel. Good suggestion.
