That was me quoting someone else. -_-. I was quoting this guy but it glitched up for whatever reason.

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
harley001 replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
YES! BECAUSE HOLDING THE W BUTTON DOWN IS A CRUCIAL PART OF GAME PLAY! I don't get how not holding the button will make affect anything. Do you think people will just go eat a sandwich and leave him auto running? lol. Dayz is a very dangerous world. No average player (maybe a few morons) is going to leave their keyboard for more then a minute. Maybe to grab a coke or use the bathroom but that's it. -

Don't know if I already posted here. Big thread. But yeah. Problem with coin is if someone starts shooting at me it can be hard to pull it out in time. Death by coin. I don't think auto run would decrease the immersion. -
Kevlar is very hard to make. A average Joe wouldn't be able to make it. And all those videos of people making "bullet proof" armor aren't making bullet proof armor. They are making bullet proof material. If you wore that two things would happen. 1. it would be very heavy and you wouldn't be able to move quickly so your pretty much dead. Mobility is key in combat. 2. In all the videos I noticed there big dents on the other side. THOSE DENTS WOULD KILL YOU. You would get crushed in your armor. They is why during medieval times they had big hammers and axes. To crush people inside their own armor. There is a very big reason why we did not have bullet proof body armor as standard use until 1980. Because all the bullet proof armor attempts from beforehand were either too heavy to use for a standard infantry OR just flat out didn't work. There is more to protecting you from a bullet then just stopping the bullet from penetrating you. It can crush you own armor on you. Heck, even if it doesn't dent the armor it can kill you. the sheer force could kill you. If you are walking one way and then a bullet hits you adding a large amount of force to you in a another direction there is a high risk of serious injury. Modern Kevlar doesn't just stop bullets. IT ABSORBS the bullet. You need to absorb the impact just as much as you need to stop the bullet itself. So in the end. Custom made bullet proof armor just has never worked. You need skilled hands and good tools. If custom/homemade bullet proof armor was easy/possible to make. Why do we never see people using it in real life combat?

Yeah. It is a hard thing to miss. Sound alone is usually good but it can vague. Also what if they have a silencer? Or something so low caliber you hardly hear the sound at all. What if the sound gets masked? I think we need a little more then just sound. If your organs are trashed your dead. You missed the part where I said "If you survive". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ""this is whats happen inside your body... i REALLY dont think its only hurt on the impact point ;) NO INDICATORS! the sound is enough."" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quantum2k6 said the above not me. The quoting thing isn't working. Guys, this is a game, people get shot and live in this game. This isn't real life stop treating it like real life. The other day I was in elektro I got shot by a sniper, bandaged myself, and then just moved along. Dayz is a game not real life. It happens to realistic when compared to other games but it is still a game. Btw yes it would hurt more then the impact point but you would sure as hell know where the impact point is. So getting shot in the left side. Then feeling the left side hurting very badly is unrealistic. Please explain.

Why is having the game run at just above 30 or less a reason to remove the setting?
-
Meh. We don't mind. Its a alpha I think they should have left it in. those clipping issues don't seem game breaking or even slightly breaking to me.

Tranquilizers don't act instantly. Also they are made for animals not people so they wouldn't go through armor of any sort. Even clothing might be a problem. If I am a wearing a rain coat or puffy jacket I don't think a tranq gun would go though. they are low power guns designed for animals. Not people wearing clothing. They don't act instantly if you have ever seen them tranq a deer the deer runs around for about 1-3 minutes before finally falling over. There are a few sedatives that can put someone out instantly but you have to get them in the right place. Like the neck or near the heart. I think gas would be more effective.

I have a high end pc. I TURN OFF SHADOWS IN EVERY GAME I PLAY. Those things eat up FPS because everything has to processed twice partly. Seriously it boosted my fps from 30-38 to 60-70 when I turned shadows off. One easy fix I can think of though is the ability to have only environmental shadows on. Things like tree's, buildings, hills. They don't consume too much FPS because they are not moving. I can still keep above 60 with those shadows enabled. But zombie, cars (when they get added), and player shadows gotta stay off me. Anything that moves around and has a shadow my PC doesn't like.

I think it could work but I don't want it going too far out. Making bullet proof armor should be out of the question. But making something to protect your face from a incoming sludge hammer should be possible. It is a cool ideal but also its not really needed. Plenty of armor already in the game. Could be cool, but would be hard to implement and i doubt it would have much use since helmets are easy to find. Still chest armor is a pain to get so I do like the ideal of a football uniform or a trench coat with some plates stuck in it.

Going a bit far. The current way you see ammo is by clicking the gun in your backpack and then looking at the ammo count. Basically he is asking for a number on the gun when you open your inventory that shows the ammo count. I think it would save us from a little extra clicking in the somethings clunky inventory.

No. Otherwise YOU SEE WILL WAY TOO MANY ZOMBIE PLAYERS. Think of it, a lot of people will die on purpose to be a zombie. It would get annoying.

remove magazine selection from Action UI, implement smart reloading
harley001 replied to commanderbash's topic in Suggestions
(Don't blame me for bumping a old thread. I actually use search function before making new topics.) Yes PLEASE. In real life I don't need to go digging around to find my ammo. I would have it in my pocket or attached to my vest. I would just be able to grab a new mag or a handful of buckshot (if you are using something like the double barreled shotgun) and reload. Worst part is, if you have a double barreled shotgun and you fire one shot. You can't load a second shot without firing off the remaining shot (or removing your shot and then adding two shots back in. Which is clunk as heck and takes to long to do in a fire fight.) I know they were trying to be realistic but it just came off as really clunky. If people want to continue to use the inventory screen or action menu that's fine. But let the rest of us use the easy reload. -
Going to need to argree. THe zombie spawning is broke. I understand zombies chasing you. You know zombies alerting other zombies. But having zombies spawn out of midair around you is stupid as heck. It takes away part of the game. "Oh look a barn. Only 2 zombies." *pulls out hatchet and kills zombies. gets swarmed by 10 zombies spawning around me* "WTF" What is the point of pre planning if zombies pop out of mid air. I think the devs should just add more zombies to the towns. Zombies popping out of mid air is really immersion breaking. They should at least spawn far away. Not almost right on top of you. But no spawning would be better at all. I want the zombies pre placed not coming in from the portals. Even if I melee them all *which is glitchy as heck. You can get hits even if they are not facing you.* zombies still spawn with argo around me. HOW DID THEY HEAR ME. I was using a axe. Did they call their breathen? They don't make howling noises. THey just make quiet grunts. Also to the people saying this adds challenge. It really dosen't. It makes it harder but not in a good way. Challenge means its fair. This is not fair. Spawning enemys out of midair around is is nowhere near fair. I know people complained about how there not enouth zombies before. BUt having them pop out of nowhere is not the way to solve it.

I am curious just how different the mod is from the standalone. I would like to see some REASONS to pay 30$ to buy the standalone when you have the mod. I think this will be a good way to attract people because right now A LOT of people see no reason whatsoever to buy the standalone when they have the mod. So. I am a potential customer that owns the mod and see's no reason to buy the standalone. Give me reasons to buy the standalone (and please stay on topic and use constrictive criticism) Focus on game play. Try to leave price out of it unless you are using it to make a point. Mainly give things the standalone does better then the mod or has that the mod dosen't. Also The mod AND the standalone are alpha's. So avoid the "You are not buying a game is a alpha" please. remember WE ARE COMPARING THIS TO THE MOD.
-
Lets end this and get back on topic please. 1. I am not letting people tell me to buy the game or not. Its calling SUGGESTIONS. Advice. Opinions. Please do not tell me you are one of those people that would buy a game WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING about it before? That is setting yourself up for disaster. Of course reviews are going to say its shit. They are also going to say its good. The point of a review is not to tell someone to buy the game or not. Its to give them information on the game and a persons experience with the game. A smart person will watch a couple reviews and read some opinions on the game before making a purchase. You need to know what you are buying before you buy it. And since this is the dayz forums where people play dayz I assumed people here would know about the game. 2. Quiet about the price. Focus. On. Gameplay.
-
So people make reviews for fun then? There are plenty of ways to find out if a game has what you want in it before buying it. I am not asking for a recommendation. Just a list of features the standalone has, that the mod doesn't. Both are very buggy and glitchy so stay away from the alpha aspect. Buying a game without knowing anything about it is stupid and is one of the reasons games like Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial marines existed. Not to mention Warz. (now called infestation)
-
how do I know the full game is any good? Why not just stick with the mod. Nope. SO far I am sticking with the mod. Focus less on price focus more on game play.
-
The heck you on about? ARe you really comparing a makeshift silencer to a makeshift minigun?
-
I just want to be able to hit the gun. If i see a mosin on the ground it would be nice to be able to smack it with my axe to break it. Deny its use to anyone else. Also could be a good way to prevent a guy you disarmed from picking up his weapon and shooting you.
-
YES PLEASE....just for beards. I want beards. Need beards. hmmmmmm. Beards on women too, equal rights and all.
-
The impact of the bullet would throw your arm off unless you were hit by a lousy peashooter. But yes when the human body is suddenly hurt or jerked the brain tells the hand to clench into a fist.
-
Medic helmet would be nice. Even if people don't use it to say "hey I am a medic" it would be good for RP and obviously a nice re-skin of the ballistic helmet.

Well. Anything that lets me save inventory space in a way that makes sense is welcome. Also, think of the "tactical banana" jokes.
