Delention

"I'm a dog, chasing cars." I seek a Day Z partner. Preferably not a noob, but doesn't matter much. I want someone to go out and kill zombies with, loot tons of stuff with, die with and generally have lots of fun with. Doesn't have to be on all the time, etc. etc. Would anyone like to partner? Yea?

So, I just got owned in Stary with a G17, AKM, and a Ghillie suit alongside an Alice Pack. I'm slightly frustrated, but I'll deal with it. What I'm more interested in is that that was my best equipped run too; 4+ hours. So that's got me to thinking... is it possible to get to the point that one can just survive indefinitely? Does it mean not taking any risks or, even better, weighing the risks and deciding whether or not to loot or engage a person? Or are we all bound to die eventually, either by a simple mistake, an error in judgement, or simply being unlucky and just happening to run into the only sniper along the way to Stary? Essentially, is it possible, if your intelligent and experienced enough, to actually survive? Or are there too many variables?

Well, the possibility has always been there. As much a betrayal as it might be, and incredibly dickish, some people do use this forum to be dicks. I've been fortunate enough to have found a group of people that I can trust, but I guess I've been lucky. But just giving up is not the way to handle something like this. There are plenty of people that you CAN trust, but your not going anywhere if you don't even try again. Anyway, thanks for warning us about this guy. We'll make sure we don't fall victim in the same way.

So, from distances, I'm more easily to be seen UNLESS it's pitch black? I get the idea that shades makes you practically invisible, particularly dark shade. Bush's would probably work even better. But, anything that isn't close places me at a disadvantage then? Interesting... this tells me that the Ghillie is better suited for night time, urban settings, at least until I get a sniper rifle. Not on sidewalks, per say, but in sections where there's grass to lie down in.

Well, I've recently acquired a Ghillie Suit, and as awesome as it seems, I can't help but think that there's a specific way to use it. I mean, I've been running around with it and seen videos, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm still very visible. Not as much as before, but still visible, which leads to my question... Is there any specific way a Ghillie suit should be used? I mean, any conditions or locations? Does it work best at night, when people can barely see you? Does sticking to shadows help even more? Is it restricted to only grass areas, or can I hide on dark sidewalks without being seen? Any help would be appreciated!

I am not going to lie. I am a newb. Got the game a while ago (say, a week) and I'm starting to get the hang of it. Plus, watching Seananners helps a bit with concepts.
