Thank you Adelits, You've made my day with your flawless logic. Here was I, sitting at work, feeling a little bit bored, but thanks to You, kind sir, I'm really happy now. Please, don't go back to Xbox, we need more players like you. Otherwise it will be too boring -
about to start first camp, would like some help.
Sinoby replied to t3hnoob's topic in New Player Discussion
One tip - don't post on global forums about your camp location :) I personaly will set it up away from big cities, somewhere north, maybe not too far away from NWA. -
OK, to be clear: You need more ram - go and get a kit of 2 4GB modules, that will do the trick. Don't touch your CPU - it is fine. To run this game on high I will recomend a powerfull videocard. GTX 560 is a good one. If you have money for more - you can get a more expensive one (GTX680?) But I wouldn't for this game alone.
-
BTW playing on extremely low settings moves more load to your CPU, You can increase your settings a bit.
-
Yes, you should be fine with that setup. Just update videocard, and you will be able to play at max
-
I personally use Six Launcher and have no problems with it. Just Launched the Launcher, updated DayZ/game and thats it

Will zombies ever be 'slower' outside of buildings?
Sinoby replied to Noise (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
It has been discussed over and over again. Rocket says, that those are not zombies but infected. They can't feel pain, so there is nothing stoping them from moving really fast. And really, there is no other way Zeds will poses any threat unless you increase their numbers. And you can now lose zeds in bushes, buildings, completely dropping agro. The only thing, that bothers me is their zigzaging when they get close to you, which makes them harder to hit at close distance. -
How to stop people from playing Day Z
Sinoby replied to dirtystinkinninja's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play on servers with beta-patch and working direct chat. I had some nice encounters with other players lately. People are actually proposing to help, we've shared some supplies. I think that with the fix of direct chat and some babies getting bored of just running to major cities to DM there, the game will get better. -
Well, your friend should find out, how to use a map. E.g. - find some little town, read it's name, find it on the map (dayz wiki might help with translation of city names). You do the same. Then he should look up on the map, where are you, and you should coordinate where to meet up. Takes some practice, but not that hard. If you can't do it - search the internet for dayz maps - might help for you to coordinate.

Great, thanks for the info.

Just another stupid question - I've bought PMC yesterday after finding camo skin in DayZ. And while other player characters look ok for me (with higher-rez textures) my own character looks the same (low-rez texture). I wonder if anybody has come across of this issue.

DayZ has become Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch
Sinoby replied to underpaidorphan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I tend to like the idea of respawn timer (like 12hours), and make first 2 days of play with no respawn timer. But rules should be equal for everyone, game should not be judging you by your choices and forcing you to play given play-style in the sandbox environment. Even more I like the idea of having some sort of character training over time (faster run speed, sprint for longer, slower water/food level decrease etc), so there is a point in staying alive as long as possible. I've started playing the mod ~2,5 weeks ago, have died to a tree first time 1 day ago. It took me like 2 hours to get almost all equal gear back. Next time I got killed by some guys on the NW airfield, it took me even less time to get my gear back. This mod, if anything, is too easy for a semi-experienced player. Im not afraid to die at all, and Im not afraid of Zed at all. I do like the overall feeling of the game, but it does need to be: a) a little bit harder (more Zeds :D) b) death should matter c) more co-op goals will be good -
I found one in the first general store I've entered.

Just a notice from devs: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8302 Apparently it is considered a bannable exploit and should be reported. -
First off - there are lots of other threads on this topic. But in short - yes, you loose your hunger and thirsty level when you are offline. No, you can not die from it. Once you login you icons might be flashing red, which means you will have to eat and drink really soon (like 1-2mins I guess) before you start loosing blood. But blood loss rate is pretty low, so it should be possible to get to the closest city/farm and refill your stock of supplies. Better - you should always have some food and water on your character, just for unexpected logout situation.

You get hungry/thirsty even when offline?
Sinoby replied to Kuroi (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Well, actually cans of food and water ARE everywhere. It is the most common loot I guess, I always have at least 2 food items and 2 bottles of water on me, and stock more if I'll be heading for a long trip thru woods. Not that hard really -
This game is really CPU-intensive, you need at least dual-core to run it I guess. Never tried it on single-core so no 100% information

Is there enoush shit north that you can avoid elektro etc?
Sinoby replied to callahan9119's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I only check out Berezino hospital before going north-west. No point in staying on the cost at all. You get best weapons north-west, there is a lot of cities with general stores etc. The only good thing about big cities are hospitals with bloodbags. You are better to be sure you have enough of those before going north-west. -
Things you have learned from playing DayZ

Just one thing: Trust no one.
