Whoever's thinks they will drop Arma engine and will develop a new one from a scratch just for Day is seriously deluding themselves. It makes no sense from business point of view, it will take too much manpower for a project without strong financial backup.

If you want private server you have to switch to private hive (not sure how legitimate is that). Otherwise having private server gives it's players an unfair advantage.
-
You forgot to add Rockstar to the poll - DayZ: GTA edition anyone? :D
-
And that is why normally developers don't let anyone outside of their studio to test a product at prototype/alpha stage. Because a lot of people don't get it. OP, you say you are aware, that DayZ is alpha, but yet you complain about glitchy gameplay? If you are getting tired of doing player/zeds killing - change your play style. Go help some noons on the cost, join medics organization. Join a clan and try to defend your base of operations. Or just take a break from the game, come back later and see if you like the sta dalone, which will not be that limited by the core game mechanics.

So if Arma crashes or you lose connection to the internet - you die? Sounds like a great idea!

Apparently it's not easy. How about you read patch notes to be aware of what is being done to prevent alt#f4?

'Realism' arguments need to be left out
Sinoby replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like the idea of extracting bullet, otherwise you get let's say fever and infection. Will require another player to do it though;) -
People, please. Stop mislabeling.
Sinoby replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, definitely murderers are bad aim noobs and bandits are all over nice guys, that rob because they have too. I've never seen a real bandit, that doesn't shoot on sight and instead asks his target to e.g drop his weapons in 3 monthes of play. None of my friends have seen one either. So as the game itself calls PKers bandits, I will keep calling them bandits. If you kill for the loot or kill for the fun - you still kill the person. Doesn't matter to me. -
'Realism' arguments need to be left out
Sinoby replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To bring it even further from topic - I like some Monster posts, some of them are funny. But back to topic: not everything should or can be realistic in the game. Making some things too realistic will make the game unplayable. But why everybody is talking about broken legs, when they try to prove, that game is not realistic. Why do you think, that leg is broken? Maybe you avatar just got his knee dislocated? In such case some type of painkillers will help. I think that DayZ should stay as realistic as possible, if it doesn't make it unplayable. I mean adding a proper broken bones healing mechanic, which will take up to one month will make it unplayable. But adding a curable dislocated knee mechanic doesn't break the game. -
DayZ is not a deathmatch and the statistics prove it
Sinoby replied to chhopsky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am bandit if I fee like it, but if I see someone in real trouble, I may jump in and help the guy. I will probably not tag along with him, but I will not shoot first if he asks for help. If I get killed - I don't care that much. I don't care about my gear at all. Helping feels really good in this game. Some time ago me and my friend were looting some city up north, it was deep moonless night, we couldn't see a thing. When leaving the city we heard a guy on direct com asking if we are friendly. He was in complete darkness with dmr lying under a bush overlooking the city. He could have killed both of us no problem, but he didn't. Instead he risked revealing his position to two guys with assault rifles. We came to him, offered blood transfusion, but he said he is OK. Then we traided some ammo, and went away. I still remember that guy, thanks to him I still believe there are nice players in DayZ. -
I'd even say Arms 2 ACE go.
-
Or, you can play smart and kill yourself a sniper on some hill near Cherno-Elektro. That is much easier and more fun ;)
-
Do you ever go back south after you get well-geared and why?
Sinoby replied to A-E-I-OWN-U's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I never go back to south coast. I may go south to the e.g zelenogorsk when I want to explore, but not to the coast. No point in going there really - I don't hunt noons, and lots of noob hunters will DC in combat anyway. I prefer north ;) -
Hey DEVS.. half the threads are about hackers...
Sinoby replied to a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Please, go to BI forums and post there. It is not up to DayZ team to fix the hacking. You can also ho to BE forums. And half of this hax existed in the Arms II, and they were not fixed for long years. -
Just wanted to say that thread tags are... funny :D

Latest "patches" not really fixing key issues?
Sinoby replied to kicktd's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree with you, Kicktd, on the point, that some issues really break the game like tents/vehicles. But for these stage of development it is better to have them in and try to find a way to find possible bugs and fixes for them before it goes standalone. You see - community has found lots of ways to exploit them now, not later. I can not call this mod a real alpha, because, as it stands now - it will not become beta. It is more of proof of concept for future product. You, as developer, should understand it. -
Oh, it's this troll again. Let's see how long till this thread gets a lock
-
I think I'll just put all my gear in a tent, and hope it gets saved. Hosting event in town or any plays where zeds can spawn will not work. However, having it in some old castle is cool, and as OP has already said - hard to snipe it. But yet another problem are server hoppers... Too bad you can't lock servers for events
-
I was just thinking about marathon, a group of survivors followed by horde of Zeds
-
According to Rocket, early standalone may be available later this year. But it will follow minecraft model, so new content will be added after the initial standalone is released.
-
I would like to see some event. This is fun in such dangerous game.
-
I would like to be there if it's on weekend (and if ping allows, since I'm from EU) To the made part - I don't really know. I kinda understand, how guys that create a massive concerts feel now - you can never be sure... Well, anyway, good luck with that, keep us informed. ;)
-
What Zone will it be in? Eu or Us? I'm feeling like attending. There is one problem though - how will you check if anyone is carrying nade in his main inventory?

Latest "patches" not really fixing key issues?
Sinoby replied to kicktd's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm on my phone now and feeling quite lazy, so I will repost from another thread: " And let me explain something about alpha. This stage of software development is the one, where new content gets added to the game. Some of the content may not be fully functional or being a complete placeholder. Fixing bugs that don't block testing of major functionality is out of scope of alpha. The main problem with this mod is it has got too popular at the alpha stage. And lots of people are demanding fixes like it's a complete game, and developers can't focus of adding new features." So, why do you, as developer, thinks that it is reasonable to waste time on fixing something, that can be co.pletely reworked, once the game goes standalone? Rocket is using this mod as an experimentation playground for future release of separate game. -
I agree with the third part - aiming is somewhat too easy, I think that condition of your character should be taken into account along with overall increase of recoil. But that might be subject for standalone and not a mod.
