Since 1.7.1, my fps has dropped significantly. Before : 40-50 fps in the wilds, 25-35 in cities Now : 2-18 fps everywhere. Havent found a single server with fps similar to what it was before. Also had problems to log in on "waiting for character to create" and stuck at loading screen. 1.7.1 + beta 93825 clevo laptop intel P8700 2.6 Ghz nvidia 260M GTX PS : I hope it is not my cpu that is not fast enough for the new LOS system... Any feedback from users with different systems ?

So not many constructive replies here, huh ? The thread is a little bit old, but I'll try to give some ideas and features concerning dogs. I'll edit the post if I find other ideas. How would you acquire a dog ? : - wounded dogs spawn around the map (like maybe 3 to 6 at any given time). The poor thing would bark and cry, like a real wounded dog would. You can choose to kill and gut him, would give 2 raw meat. Or bandage him and having him follow you around. - having groups of feral dogs roaming around chernarus like it would be the case in real life. They would be hostile, attacking you as you approach. If you manage to kill them all but one, the last one will take you as he's new leader. (this idea would be harder to code I guess) Dogs behaviour : - Afraid of zeds : would "cry" (dont know the exact english term ^^) as you approach zeds. Would manage to follow you by avoiding zeds, so they won't agro every zed you come across. - Hostile only when you are being attacked : In a pvp firefight, the dog will attack your ennemy as soon as you are being fired at. If you agro zeds, the dog will target the nearest zed. - Tracking other players : have the dog to sniff another players presence, and lead you to him. The downside of this is : by barking to alert you, the dog could also as well reveal your presence. - Give the dog commands. "Stay here", "Attack target", maybe "STFU" if he begins to bark lol Dogs balancing and combat ideas : - Dogs have low health. They can take a little damage, but then they will be in a wounded state, and you will have to bandage him so that he can follow you again. - Dogs run as fast as zeds. A desperate or hungry dog will be a massive threat if you miss it. Basically, a single bite should give you bloodloss and have a chance to break your legs. So yeah, you don't want to miss it :) - And like I said, every dog give you 2 raw meat if you gut it, so the choice is up to you :)

I must admit its extremely frustrating to lose a car, but it's not a reason for adding keys. It would lead to abuse, and also it would not be realistic : it is really easy to run those old russian cars without keys ^^

Fresh and really cool idea, I want that in the game ! maybe make car parts less likely to spawn in industrial zones, so that it would be more balanced ? Also why not being able to take out parts from working vehicles ? would add more freedom and choices. -
The thread would need an update, now there are bikes, tractor, a van and the truck mentioned above. And yeah just came across a clan of bandits with a truck like that, totally cool :)

This is more than what I would have expected at this time of development, awesome news. Edit : I thought of an idea for close combat against zeds : would it be possible to use like the drag body feature of arma, so that zeds that are chasing you can grab your leg, make you fall and you would have a short timing to shoot at them and make them loose their grab ?

La video est un peu light en effet, ça manque de coherence, surtout pour un mod qui base tout sur son atmosphere opressante, la tu a juste fait une suite de sequences sans trop de rapport, c'est dommage. Ou alors c'est moi qui ai rien compris a ce qui se passait ingame, lol. Ce serait nettement mieux si on avait droit a une petite histoire, genre en resumé avec des commentaires en temps réels, ça serait plus interessant. Dans les points positifs je mettrais : - la scene avec le bus - la musique (maiden c'est toujours aussi bon :) ) Tiens une idée de zic si tu remets des bus dans une prochaine video hehe => -

I don't want to start a new thread on this, but here some ideas : 1. Adding more enterable buildings. Most of the small towns in the game have no enterable building. To me it's an issue, and it's even more of an issue now with the temperature system. I'm not saying every single buildings should have hyper-detailed interiors. My idea is to make 2 or 3 other type of buildings enterable, preferably buildings which would be common all over chernarus, like residential houses. 2. Give an explanation for some buildings not being enterable. I've got no problem with most of the building having no interior. The problem to me is that there is no way you can easily identify interactive doors when you're new to Chernarus. My idea would be that houses that are not enterable should be locked like it would be in real life if a virus was to turn people into zombies. Some buildings would have planks barricading windows and doors. Other would be blocked with bricks. Then the player can easily imagine why those buildings are closed : maybe some survivor tried to lock himself into a house ? Or maybe some other building has been locked by the army after quarantine measures have been taken ? 3. Have randomize interiors It would be cool if all houses interior would'nt be exactly the same. Some houses could be totally ravaged, with blood stains showing someone got infected in there and killed his family. Those kind of hints would add to the immersion and would help tell the story of chernarus.

Noone is implying DayZ is world of warcraft, but can't you see the problem being raised here ? The point to the mod is to survive. Meaning every choices you make must have consequences. Alerting too many zeds should mean instant death, but for now you can actually just log out of the game and instantly be safe. It is an issue and an exploit that must be solved. We're just trying to come up with solutions to this issue. These solutions are maybe not the most original out there. But if a mmo like World of warcraft has a clever solution that would work in this mod, why not try it ?

Rocket, I don't have a great internet connection, and on some servers I've got bad performance. When the system will be implemented, will it mean if I change server many times to find one with good performance my character will die ? On the other hand, it is good to keep the hardcore feeling of the game to give punishment if you disconnect in the middle of a fight. It's what I like in games like Dark Souls : no save point, no way to avoid a bad situation, every single thing you do have consequences and there's no turning back. Maybe your character should stay in the game world some times after you log out ? Meaning to log out you should first find a safe place, and couldn't do it in the middle of a fight ?

I think female will wear the same clothes as men, no better camo stuff or anything. What you call an advantage in that they would be slightly slimmer and smaller, would'nt influence the gameplay that much as you imply. Because the gameplay do not rely that much on hitboxes and aiming, but more on stealth and observing your environment. BUT I guess the feature should be implemented in alpha and correctly tested so we can see if it has any advantages.

I would definitely like to see female characters in the game. Skeletons and models would have to be different, females have thinner bones and shoulders are not as large as males, animations would also need to be different, a little bit "lighter" than the male. What I do not want in the game is female head on male body. Theres nothing more uncanny and ugly to me.

I'd rather have the journal feature, which is something totally new and original. The note system already been implemented in demon souls, I don't think it would work in DayZ. Just my opinion.

Like stated by rocket, interactions with other people or object in the world still use the contextual menu, so I guess bandaging someone else works the same as before

I would like to see zombies hesitate when you shoot a bullet or kill one of them, like if they suddenly took conscience of death for a second. That would last a second, just enough time to start running/reloading. On the other hand, zombies should deal more damage, and maybe be more resistant to bullets, like stated above, and a little bit slower. That would make combat more strategic and intense. Just my opinion on this, I don't really know nothing about real fire arms, and even less about real zombies. ahah.
