I'm gonna go right ahead and call you stupid. If I am attached to my family, I don't deserve one? Is it the same IRL? I am very attached to my gear, how the fuc* do I deserve to lose it then? Maybe I've walked through hell and back for that gear. Know what? You're not even worth my time. you compare the value of items ingame with the value of your family members? i wouldnt want to be in your family... You just did compare family with in game items. Otherwise you wouldn't have said that you didn't want to be in my family, right? I wondered if it was the same thing for items and family members. "If you value something, you deserve to lose it" - Your stupid words. I just wondered if the same thing applied to people. Everybody will lose everything in the end. Don't value anything, because you'll lose it one day or another. I'm speaking of your ingame items, family members, everything. One day it will just be gone. -
Good idea, but why need a npc to do that ? If you want to open a shop, go on, you can already do this. Find 2 guys to back you up, gather some weapons in barns and have fun :)

I never implied it would be chernarus, I think of a chernarus-themed (Czech republic) map. I don't think it will be A LOT more than a year away. It took one year for chernarus but BIS now have the experience from both Arma 2, Arma 2 operation Arrowhead, and Arma 3. I'm only sharing my dreams, expectations. It's not a suggestion thread. It's discussion. Like you know, when people share ideas for the sake of it. -

My mic laptop on my clevo is awesome, indeed I use it to record music and stuff we do with my band. But I can't speak for yours, try recording your voice with a software like goldwave or whatever.

The only sniper rifle in DayZ with night vision is the FN FAL ANPVS4, it spawns at helicrash. http://picacid.com/arma2/loot_en.html

Yes, it just makes sense to me that zeds could not be walking around all days and nights, they also NEED to sleep. It's a biological need. Like food. A virus can take over someone's bodies, alter his consciousness and reduce his senses, but it won't make their muscles work like forever. the logical next step to zed life cycle, that's what I think. Now, imagine the tension walking a town full of sleeping zeds, knowing the slightest noise will awake them fully and be your death? Plus you add the occasional dog pack who would wait nights to come to town looking for food... It would be scary :)

This game would feel too much like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I don't know, I'm not thinking that way. I'm thinking : what would I stumble across if I were in holidays in Czech republic, and if suddenly a zombie apocalypse would take over the world. I guess people in that country have lots of dogs. Those dogs would become feral and be a potential threat. Dogs could become infected because of their proximity to humans. Or they could be immune to the virus. Anyway, it would not make the game feel like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It would make the game feel more realistic, more living, more challenging. You see wild dogs and you think : are they infected ? will they attack me or run away if I approach ? -

IRL you would never approach a wolf closer than 1 km. These animals avoid human presence, and scent you from really far away. Pack of dogs/infected dogs instead. But it's been requested like a thousand times before. -
I havent thought of it gameplay-wise yet. But what I can imagine is : *sleeping zeds would still have high hearing sense. *while asleep they would be harder to spot. *system can be randomize so that some zed would still be awake at night. At around 2 AM though, every zed will be asleep. *If possible system should be realistically scaled with zeds waking up and falling asleep seemlessly. *Night time would see a new threat because packs of dogs (they are originally nocturnal animals) would roam the streets. During daytime, those animals would only be encountered in the woods. *It is realistic that dogs would not go to town in daytime, given the zed threat. *some dogs could be infected. They would roam alone and be extremely dangerous, with a rare spawnrate. good point, but I can't think of a system that wouldn't cause the game to become extremely boring. ^^ Regarding a sleeping system for players, maybe do this : *A fatigue jauge that would take 12 real hours to become red. *When the jauge is red, aiming becomes harder, movements slower. *You then need to find a place to rest, a tent or a bed inside a building. Now we have some options : * sleeping is instantaneous and won't break your ingame experience. OR : * sleeping can be like the pass out animation. You are an easy target for maybe 2-10 min. (So you'll need to hide your stuff somewhere before going to sleep, and hope noone will find you) * After sleeping, some blood is restored, hunger and thirst are red. * If the sleeping jauge is red for too long, then you will start yawning. Then, you will fall asleep like in the middle of nowhere. Will make your temperature go down fast. MAYBE no need for another jauge. The yawning sound would alert you that you need to find a safe place and rest. I insist on the 12 real hours. It won't happen often, and many players will die without ever feeling the need to sleep.

Yeah but I think those things are already ingame (zed spawn timer, zed number limit) they just need tweaks or maybe don't work sometimes. In the last patch, I had no problems clearing small areas for maybe 5 minutes before zeds would spawn, and they no longer spawn close to you, so.. It's really not that bad ! I'm not against variety in the zed hords, but your idea is a little bit in opposition with what the mod tries to achieve. It's not about fighting imaginary fantastic creatures with surnatural powers, it's more like a simulation of a world ravaged by somes sort of virus. Something that is even more creepy than any imaginary creatures because it could really happen tomorrow. Also the different type of zeds in the game tries to simulate a realistic zombie life cycle, with some being "fresh" infected who can run really fast, and others that are starving and can only crawl. SO the problem with your idea is that you're thinking backwards. You should start thinking about the virus, what it does from a scientific point of view, and then come up with ideas on how zeds should behave, or how they shoudln't, in relation with the infection they have. EDIT : you say it isn't too hardcore but night is already hardcore, and you add a new zed type that can basically see you in the night and chase you like forever ? it is definitely hardcore. I like it :)

* Performance is good. * loot spawning is good, think every items now loot properly, which is great. * zeds agro still need some tweaking, for instance you shouldn't be invisible in buildings cause it makes you invisible when you're just outside buildings, which is quite unrealistic. * Nerf zed seeing and boost zed hearing. Walking on a road whould not make you much more visible, but much more loud. It is not realistic that zeds can't see you if you walk on grass but can on a road or dirt ground. * bug with hatchet and crowbar "ammo" that drops when you take another weapon. * bug with zeds spawning in doghouse. * zeds spawning in buildings is bad when not so much buildings are enterable. Also they look pretty stupid in there ahah. * zeds sound a little bit too quiet. -

I love 1.7.1.1 ! Things are much more interesting, less food and water makes every minute of the game challenging and every decision really count. It's definitely a step in the right direction. As soon as I spawned, I teamed with a random guy and we got guns together. Funny thing, he didn't shot me and we part ways with mutual trust. I found lots of dead survivors along my travel north, people trapped in houses after agroing too much zeds. made surviving more thrilling, give you real achievement. So rocket, when you bring in food and drink spawn again, make them far less common. Weapons spawn are pretty good right now. Not far from the perfect balance for me. Zeds need some tweaking, better hearing gunshots. Maybe longer spawnrate and LOS less effective. (I think you made too much changes to zed in one update rocket) -

"Lol @ taking away startup guns to add to "realism" when we can't even throw punches to defend ourselves from ZOMBIES that hit harder than a train even though their bodies should be in the late stages of decomposition which is not the same as being on PCP. What an awful decision for a game developer to make. " What a cheerful person you are. -

you need the latest beta patch for arma 2 (93825) => http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php When you join a server make sure it runs the same beta version or an older one. there are threads that will explain you how to install and launch the beta patch version of ArmA. PS : You can downgrade to 1.7.0 if you want a good experience, this version is more stable and enjoyable. Also be patient and try multiple servers. The error you get (No entry 'bin\config.bin\CfgWeapons.) is not important and won't prevent you from playing the game.
