    Anyone finds zeds should be able to hear gunshots from farther away ? it's kinda ridiculous right now I can fire my M1911 and zeds 30m away won't even react lol. Breaks the immersion for me.

    Or maybe it's a HDD problem : you should try using Ultimate Defrage, then launch a defrag with Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA folders set in High performance area of your HDD. Improved loading times and fps a bit for me.

    Your CPU is WAY too slow for this game. Try overclocking it. If it doesn't work, then too bad :(

    Fairwell, had enough of this

    There are 2 ways to play the game : 1. If you don't care about gear or dying, you can just have fun trying to make contacts with other survivors, try to find friendlies, set up ingame shops/comunity stuff. You'll die often, but you can get some crazy experiences out of it. 2. If you care about your stuff and want to survive, then... assume everyones hostile. Don't try to communicate, at all. Be a shadow among the shadow, shoot anyone that gets in your way. Make the right decisions for your survival, but don't expect to meet any friendly along the way. Playing 1. if you care about the gear will always bring frustrating moments. But in the end you will always die, no matter how stealhy you are or how fast you aim. Deal with it.
  7. No, please don't do that. Would break the whole idea behind the game, which is permadeath. It might be a technical challenge to only have 1 hive server, BUT If players are given multiple characters, every choice/ every decision you make ingame would never be as dramatic again. It's the soul behind the game you would instantly destroy. BUT given we're in alpha, it could serve for testing different gameplay values or stuff. Just hope the final game will keep it hardcore.

    How is this fun?

    I agree, this game is so bad, always the same ennemies looking the same, I'm already tired of it after 20 min of game, such a waste of my precious time. At least I hope there would be more variety in creatures, like dinosaurs or flying unicorns that would be rideable. I'm still at lvl 1 and don't see my exp bar, AND I'm yet to find any npc to give me quest, this game is such a waste of time.. /NEVERPLAYAGAIN

    It is server lag, disconnect and reconnect to get rid of it. Still happen from time to time, 1.7.2 gonna be an improvement I hope.
  11. It is not how to make the game greater, it is how to make a challenging game less challenging. And yet I kinda agree with point 3, but could lead to abuse/loss of immersion.

    Suggestion: Make Zombies Zombies.

    They're not rotting corpses. They are infected with some sort of a rage virus. Older infected that are starving/or have "rotting corpse" ARE in the game, they crawl or walk like monkeys.

    DayZ is only a project title. Dean never talked about zombies, always about infected. Also, infected run 2times faster than the player because of the way they are coded. They have to stop everytime they reach you. Think about it, if they ran like only 1.5 times faster than player speed, given they stop 1 sec everytime they reach you, they would not be a threat anymore. And we don't want that. Remember zeds are currently entities dependent of ambient life AI, which means there are strong limits to what can be achieved with them. EDIT : I could just have yelled : ALPHA!! too.

    Petition to spawn with a weapon!

    OK, now my time for a petition : spawning in underwear. Especially for female characters ! (and with no bandage, and if you stay more than 15 min in underwear you'll die from cold.)

And I just thought, if you give total freedom player on what they can wear, and enough clothes in term of quantity, then clans will surely find ways to recognise themselves without having to add specific "clan skin" items : they will wear the same jacket (hells angels style^^), hat, or maybe accessories like glasses or whatever. MORE metagame, please :)
  16. Man, I think I just fell asleep on my keyboard, and had the worst dream ever. It was like, someone wanted to add green bars over people's head in DayZ... Oh wait... NOOOOOOoooo !
  17. I don't like it. Why skin "roles" ? I mean, everyone is a survivor. you'll wear clothes that help you survive longer : warm coat if it's raining, camo if you're in the woods, dark clothes if it's night etc... I think what we need is a proper clothing system allowing you to find lots of clothing gear, and wearing it depending on the conditions I've stated before : rain, location, time of day. Also if there is enough customisation options in the final product, it will help people recognising each other and maybe slightly help teamplay. EDIT : I think your idea could work as a temporary stuff BEFORE the game becomes standalone. I know a clothing system would require a ton of coding, preferably compiled in engine for performance reasons : so we won't see it til DayZ is only an Arma mod.

    Player Revival

    At first I thought : Hell no, when you're dead you're dead. But I thought of it, and in the end it could work and give more depth and teamplay in DayZ. Maybe give different chance of reviving successfully depending on the time you have been dead, negative blood level (at -6000 it's really unlikely someone can reanimate you, like 0.5% chance) and just make it random so that it should be a really tense situation when you're trying to reanimate someone. +1 for this idea.

    Definitely more like notes/audio log than scripted missions. Notes could also be player generated items to comunicate with other players : put a note in someone's tent explaining why you borrowed items from it, put a note for other survivors about a hostile group or sniper somewhere, etc.... I don't know if it's just me, but I sometimes had to steal things from other players because I was forced to (antibiotics for instance) or take a vehicle from a camp to flip my quad, but with intentions to bring it back later. Leaving a note sometimes could just make interactions between players less "kill or be killed"

  21. I've read almost everything. Very poor scientific content. Nothing to do with dayZ. and... any sources ? EDIT : I've read in more details, sounds like propaganda for a faschist/extreme right politic movement of some kind. Still don't see the point with what would happen if zombie apocalypse would happen.
