    DAY Z MARRIAGE Q&A

A plan that I formulated (in the 20 or so minutes since reading this) to successfullytroll the wedding: Eight people of little-to-no connection need to get invites. (if they can get jobs as drivers, security, or anything else that's just a bonus). Three would attend the wedding itself. Two of them would be armed with hatchets (can't check the toolbelt as far as I'm aware), smoke grenades, and perhaps a couple of regular grenades. Once they start the chaos up the five or so people waiting outside of the "anti-sniper" perimeter would coordinate an attack on said anti-snipers. Simultaneous attack on two fronts, chaos caused by the usage of smoke and the other guests as potential meat-shields would make for a difficult time. Then you have the eighth guy who's job is just to die along with everyone else. Why? Because once the guests are "relocated" he can relay the secondary location to his seven buddies and they can roll in a bit more traditionally (likely with gear from some of the "security team" now) and take as many people as they can down. Again. Edit: Of course now that I've detailed it, it would be significantly more difficult to pull off.

    DAY Z MARRIAGE Q&A

Do you honestly believe without some form of hacks, scripts, or some other form of game-breakery you can keep this from becoming the most hilarious massacre I've yet seen? Also, will there be rehearsals?

    Seperate survival from bullet damage

Also, if you're starving and suffering from a gunshot wound you're likely to die faster than if you were just suffering from a gunshot wound (or just starving). The two being tied together make more sense than a separate system for "damage from being shot"

What DayZ has to learn from other games

I don't think borrowing/using mechanics that are used in another game dilutes any of what DayZ is intended to be or makes it "Metro Z" or "Stalker Z". If that was the case, since it's a FPS it should be called Wolfenstein 3d-z

    Seperate survival from bullet damage

Seems like a more convoluted version of the current system with "medipaks" added. I'm all for systems being convoluted when it adds depth but this... Seems to be lacking.

l85 AWS / Thermal, Still allowed??

If you have one you're still allowed to have it (though some admins might be a little quick on the trigger finger about it) they just don't drop anymore.

If whether or not you receive information about this game is affecting your enjoyment of the holidays, you're a bit too invested.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I have what may be an interesting theory as to the delay of DayZ-standalone's release and/or information on the release. To start with the tl;dr version: It's The WarZ's fault The War Z is a "DayZ clone" (I'm using this more as nomenclature for the "type" of game rather than implying anything about the game itself as there are other places for that) that generated a lot of interest on it's release on Steam. This interest quickly turned into distaste as players were given what's largely to be considered an "unfinished" or more accurately "unready" game. The developer used the excuse that it was intended to grow and continue growing from the "foundation build" (a term taken from what would have been the initial build of DayZ). Now, how does this pertain to DayZ? It has "poisoned the well" if you will. Now, if and when DayZ is released the game will be looked at with an even more critical scope than which might have been used if The WarZ was never released or at the very least didn't bomb as miserably as it did. This in turn puts more pressure on Rocket to make sure the game is even more polished and that his version of a "foundation build" is in no way comparable to that of WarZ's. Of course that extra polish and content means that Rocket has to take even more time to work on the game. This coupled with the holidays and the self-imposed deadline he gave himself means that the last few weeks have been "crunch time" for DayZ's dev-team. So now he has to make the decision as whether to keep up with his initial promise and release the game within December (possible to the revulsion of the gaming community), delay the game until the heat from The War Z's miserable failure dies down, or set some date in the near future. My feeling is that he's going with the second option, which means he can't just announce that he's waiting for the shit-storm that rose from The War Z to die down (as there would undoubtedly be controversy) nor is he willing to lie to the community that has backed him. So he chooses silence. Of course, this is all just a theory.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Acting like a self-entitled child isn't going to bring you your information any faster than being patient. It's a no-win situation really. If Rocket were to post every day, people would complain about him spending more time posting and not working on the game. Now that he barely posts, people are complaining about not being "in the loop". Personally, if it were me and I saw the shit I was getting for spending time with my family over the holidays, I'd be even less inclined to communicate with you all.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

It's not a matter of "not caring" as it is not getting up Rocket (or anyone else's) ass about when the game's going to be released. The whole dev team likely would have been better off pulling an Id-software and just saying that they'd release the game when it's ready as opposed to putting a deadline on it. As you can see, people get antsy when deadlines are approached and even moreso when they're missed.
  11. That seemed like far too much effort for far too little reward

    Removal of Meat and Canteen

I don't know, there's still the inherent problem of hunting whatever it is you plan to eat, and finding a reliable water-source. Diseases coming from various water-sources may work to be a better balance than just taking out canteens.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I had a feeling the game wasn't going to be released within the year since the "Greece incident" but I admire Rocket for trying and will be quite happily surprised if he manages. Was setting the goal the wisest idea? Probably not. But I'd rather him not make the deadline and wait for the game a bit than have him rush for it and half-ass things.

Third person vs First person view

Interesting way of going about it. I could deal with this moreso than flat-out removing third person.

    Duct tape fixes everything

A duct-taped weapon having issues (Maybe a slight wobble/drag to one side while you're aiming and a high/medium chance of the flashlight falling off) would work well to balance out duct-taping a flashlight to a weapon actually.

    Make Sniping more realistic

That's kind of the point to zeroing. To account for drop.
  17. This system seems ill-suited to the game as it stands. Axes, knives, and all sorts of melee weapons and I'm engaging in a fist-fight? why? Also it's a whole 'lot of coding for something that isn't going to be a huge part of the game or something that happens often. Lastly, your attitude towards people who don't agree with your idea (who have just as much right to post their opinions as you do) leaves much to be desired.

    Beards

I figure it would help to better personalize characters especially in conjunction with custom clothes. "Got killed in cherno by a bearded guy in a leather jacket" sounds a lot better than "Got killed in cherno by a bandit-skin"

    randomize.. everything

I think the point of the coast-start is so new players have a point of reference (especially if they miss their corner-text) rather than spawning in and being overwhelmed with being in the middle of backwoods-nowhere. Car spawns I believe are randomized (to an extent) they may or may not spawn in certain areas. The item-based randomization has two flaws. For fresh-spawning? People will suicide until they have their ideal set-up. As for the military weapons? It doesn't make sense for military bases to not have military weapons on them. Though it could and would make sense for the "higher-tier" military weapons to only spawn in the aforementioned randomized locations. Perhaps relegating bases and such to be "ammo spawns" or something along those lines.

    Hunting Knife and Cannibalism Ideas

Desperate hungry person? Like y'know, a person in the middle of the god-damned apocalypse... Also, you could get botulism eating food straight from the can. And the dietary implications behind a diet consisting only of uncooked canned goods and meat would likely have long-term adverse affects. By the way, the disease above is pretty localized. Further reading suggests that it was spread because someone who already had the disorder was eaten rather than just stemming out of people eating people. But seriously, it's a viable suggestion, has consequences, and fits in well with the tone of the game (The zombie apocalypse isn't a nice place with sunshine and rainbows).
  22. Most MG's that would fine heavy-use in a zombie apocalypse likely wouldn't be man-portable. And if MG's were the "go-to" gun then there'd be far less MG ammo than sniper-rifle ammo. Making Snipers the defacto choice for post-apocalypse survivors anyway. Also, the individual MG's have a higher drop rate than the AS50 if I recall. So yeah, there's that.

    Beards

I figured the owls would've given it away but this was a largely tounge-in-cheek delivery of an actual suggestion. That said. You don't know what sort of hormonal imbalance a zombie apocalypse might give rise to. Women might start sprouting beards and developing deep voices and demanding to be called "Chuck" Please, dear god don't take THAT seriously too.

    The Black Widow... Real?

On the note of Game Informer. Look at their preview for WarZ... Whew. Any credibility they may have retained was immediately destroyed.
