"Makes them more difficult than they already are" ^ For no reason other than to encourage another playstyle. Thereby "punishing" those who don't adhere to the preferred playstyle. I have an alternative suggestion though: As you murder other survivors and engage in acts of general "villainy" you get better at it. The first time you take aim at a survivor, you might start breathing heavy, your hands will shake, and that first kill will be all the harder, hell maybe you even vomit afterwards. The second time, maybe you just breathe heavily. By the third time, they're no longer "people" to you, just walking loot-piles. But yeah. Look at your original post and compare the disparity of "Benefits to sanity" to "Negative effects of becoming insane"

Insanity isn't necessarily debilitating. You're not likely to start hallucinating just because you haven't spoken to someone in a while, nor are you going to be so removed from reality that you'll talk to yourself when there's potential danger about. If periph-dots were still in SA, the occasional false-positive would be the most I'd go for in the "Hallucination" department. That said, the suggested system doesn't really seem to add anything to the game. It just punishes certain playstyles.

Make it a game-mode where your character is tied to your specific server. Also, remove tents, making it so you can only carry as much as you can fit in your pockets/bag/vehicle.

I will pay YOU $20 for the life of...
dekartz replied to TheLibrarian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's a trap! But then... A free twenty bucks. -
A link would have sufficed.

Meh, whether or not they deserve it (which is largely subjective as I'm sure you realize) it's caused more problems than it solved. The mods weren't starved for appreciation beforehand. Easter-eggs should strive to rest on the thin line between shameless shout-out/self-promotion and far too vague for anyone to recognize.
-
Best option: Leave it out. It ultimately doesn't add anything to the game and has only caused issues. The idea that it breaks immersion/isn't realistic isn't as ridiculous as most would like to portray (suspension of disbelief and all). Getting all up in arms that people didn't like it and it got removed is equally as silly as getting up in arms over cans.

To sum up: Night makes dealing with zombies extremely easy. However if it's a moonless night, it makes dealing with players difficult as your light-sources can be seen for forever.

Yeah, sorta. Mod's still good but Standalone's got the mouth watering. -
What Happened On Your FIRST DAY Of DayZ?
dekartz replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Spawned in, it was about 3 in the afternoon on the server. I was in Elektrozavordadbaldkavosk (What I called it then and to this day). Having seen a bunch of videos on the game I knew better than to sit around Elektro so I crawled around aimlessly until I heard shooting, got up to run, got ran over, and immediately said "Fuck this game." and went to play something else. I was back on within an hour. -
Common misconception: Cannibalism causes Kuru Kuru was an already-existing disorder amongst a small percentage of the aforementioned population. Cannibalism spread said disorder. So feasibly you could eat as many people as you'd like and never get Kuru, so long as you didn't eat anyone with the disorder. And that's just flat-out incorrect. Eating your own species serves about as much nutritional value as eating any other animal. Just with various considerable risks. The best way to work it out: 100% chance to get any disease your "meal" has. 30% chance to get a disease regardless Dramatic hit to humanity (eating someone would be akin to killing 2-3 people). Eating people more than X amount of times results in your character getting "the shakes". But only when his hunger's past a certain point (50%) The percentage would go up as you kept eating people up to the point where you've got the shakes mere minutes after a meal.

This has been suggested before and is kind of a touchy subject on these-here forums. To sum it up: The "Purists" believe that it has no place in a game that's supposed to be bleak and oppressive. The "Radicals" will accuse you of being a "baddie" who got killed by a bandit and doesn't want tog et better. The "Geoffrey's" will suggest you play on their server that has no PVP And finally the "Lizzies" will agree with you.

Does sidechat ruin anyone elses game?
dekartz replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think it's more or less to encourage co-operation between strangers. It fails miserably at this 7/10 times but still... Also combats some of the monotony. That said, I dislike using teamspeak/skype/vent when I play. Because fuck you I want immersion. -
If you need someone to tell you what to do.... You're kinda missing the point.

And so Rocket never took a picture again.

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
dekartz replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yes, I am able to run the mod. On a totally unrelated note: I spoke with -insertforummodnamehere- and he said he won't have the time to test the game and that his good chum Dekartz should totally get a key. Anyway, it should be interesting to see where development goes. I expect beards upon release. -

Well then. Since I'm not going to be able to run this. One of you gentlefolk are going to have to buy me a new computer. -
A not-announcement announcement for the forums!
dekartz replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Man, you guys must hate id-Software. Innovators of the "When It's done" ETA. -
And here I was thinking Rocket didn't like having pictures taken of him.

A not-announcement announcement for the forums!
dekartz replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Yes, you're entitled to your dissenting opinion towards the way Rocket's handling things. That doesn't mean anyone has to agree with it, no one has to like what you have to say, and they're just as entitled to tell you to shut up and be patient. Happy new year Dean. Now get back to the salt mines. Oh and happy new years forum-people. I assume your Christmas presents got lost in the mail. -
Wait... Most of the world can't read cyrillic? I guess we better go tell damn-near- the whole former-soviet-union that they're not part of the world.

Why do you complain about Snipers and Bandits?
dekartz replied to Marvel.Jane's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The complaint is not at the existence of bandits I believe so much as the prevalence. Some people (myself not included) that the game has shifted from survival sim with zombie-strips to a get-sniped-or-shot-on-sight sim with zombie-nuggets. -
@Fraggle The PIG is in the HENHOUSE.

And if someone on the security team was compromised, things could get a whole lot more hectic a whole lot quicker. You'll have a bunch of guys waiting for something to go wrong. Friendly-fire was already a risk, so how will you be able to tell whether or not someone got killed by accident or to put a hole in the "perimeter" for a pending attack? It doesn't exactly help that skins aren't really personalized. That brings me to another question: If standalone comes out before Feb, will you still be having the wedding on the mod?
