I think you seem to have me confused with somebody else. I'm not for ultra realisim. What I was refering to is the fact that you seemed to be for ultra realism and night time, as you have nv, but the minute somebody mentioned about handicaping nv with batteries, all of a sudden it's too realistic for you. You can't have it both ways.

Why are so many US servers stil night time? It seems that nearly every server is.

Well me and some friends tried, Dallas, Norway, virginia -5, Swe, Rus, in fact, we were searching for about 3 hours and found one day light server which everybody soon dissconnected from because we all had about 8 fps. Very strange business tbh. Nearly all US servers should have been daytime but they were not. Why on earth would they do that? To mess with the rest of the DayZ world? Hmm, hold on a minute, Americans messing with the rest of the world? Even in game? Stop it America! :P

Agree with OP. Night time is way too dark and I hear people cry "but it's realism!", well, the counter argument to that is if it was real, your eyes would adjust to the darkness eventually, but they don't in this mod which makes the realism argument nul and void. Something needs to be tweaked as most people I know wont play at night because they consider it to be bordering on unplayable. You also have to take into account that most people have real lives outside of the uber realistic game which means either playing with an awful ping, or being forced to play in the dark.

Updated earlier today and played a few games with np. Me and a few friends then joined a couple of servers and all had an FPS of like 8. Anybody else had the problem? Any solutions to the problem?

Strange thing is my after installing the patch earlier today and playing a few games I thought my FPS improved slightly, but after joining a few games tonight, with friends, we all had like 8 FPS which is just unplayable. i5 2500 GTX 560 8gig

My Day Z updater seems to have been frozen for about 40mins so I was wondering if people use this to update or do they do it manually? Any advice thanks.

I don't think I can download it this way. i think I need the bought version of ARMA2 and I'm running the free version with ArrowHead. All you need to do is go into your Operation Arrowhead folder and find the @dayz folder in it. Then just use 7zip or WinRAR to extrac the .pbo files from the files you downloaded and drag 'n' drop em' into the addons folder located within the @dayz folder. It'll ask if you want to copy and replace the files. Don't worry, just click "OK" or "Yes" (whichever one pops up, I forget). It's not very hard, and only takes about a minute or two when you get used to it. Edit: Inquiry; You can run DayZ with Arma2 Free and Operation Arrowhead? Yes you can. I managed to manually install it but not sure if it's working. I seem to be stuck on waiting for server response and I had an error about weapons or something.

After reading through a lot of this thread I have to say the harshness of some of the bans seem to be excessive. Of course if somebody has been proven to be cheating, beyond all doubt, then that's great, but now, as a newbie, I'm extremely paranoid about what I can and can't touch in case it gets me perma banned. The thought that I could be perma banned, without a second thought, because of some scumbag hacker is surely the wrong way to be going about things. Love the mod btw. It has huge potential. Edit - As somebody posted above me "perma banning users without proper investigation" is just awful.

I'm guessing a keyboard and mouse as this is a PC game.
