What is your honest opinion on the future of DayZ
pjano replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
The devs should hire some more people with the money they got. But at the same time they need to remember what actually made the mod fun: 1. A limited number of highly contested areas such as stary sobor military tents and NWAF which gave a sense of being in danger and risk. You were always 1 shot away from death. 2. Vehicles and tents which gave the game depth - especially including boats and chopper 3. Zombies which you used to literally have to crawl passed to avoid alerting. Night time. Dark atmosphere and sound effects 4. A variety of items including stuff like barbed wire fences, NVGs, a variety of sniper rifles and other rare loot (e.g. mountain dew) 5. Seemingly endless forests which you could get lost in and stumble across random bases. Unfortunately I think they took out this stuff and made some mistakes which I'm not sure can/will be fixed. The main advantage SA still has against the copycat games is that is it still a massively larger map. Maybe I already played the DayZ formula to death in the mod but I'm not gonna bother playing until they fix up this stuff or modders do some interesting things -
These sounds are so good! Why haven't the devs implemented this yet??

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
pjano replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
they should allow 3pp but it should be a close-high locked reverse camera so u can just check what you look like and if you are in cover. -
just play Day Z Exile or something like that in Arma 3. Quite a lot of people play it and it is basically another flavour of the early Day Z mods but with better graphics and Arma 3 engine

The Psychology of Understanding Alpha
pjano replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah as said in OP, comes down to the fact that millions of dollars were thrown at the game and they stripped out all the main features out of the early mod (and are slowly adding them back in). People had high expectations based on the mod. -
I cant help but feel that this whole game got wrecked by the early access model to be honest...

Am I the only one who thinks the mod had better atmosphere?
pjano replied to Sperglord's topic in General Discussion
100% agree with HandgunHero, CornProducts and Bororm -
anything that prevents people abusing 3rd person is good in the long run
-
Sounds like it's starting to get to the early mod standard
-
IMO they should just change it back to the status durations of the early mod and make food extremely rare (as in 2 items of food per town)

Could I please make the suggestion to be able to interact with dropped backpacks to set persistence on? That way randomly dropped backpacks won't accumulate and people who actually want to store stuff will keep their stuff. If the 'persistence on' stuff hasnt been interacted with after 4 weeks then it could be wiped half the fun with storage is seeing how long your stuff lasts without getting found xD

just play it cool, have some balls. If the guy doesn't respond or seems hostile then go your own ways. If the guy seems a bit aloof or has long pauses then he probably has friends in teamspeak
-
you wouldnt be able to distinguish a ghillie in grass from 300m away anyway so it is kind of good that the draw distance is limited
-
anything with 15 or higher and you basically control the server - this will become more evident when they add in more vehicles and persistence

Funniest moment in SA so far - was when 5 fresh spawns decided to gang up and chase after my friend and I on the coast. We ran about 100m down the road while a couple of them kept yelling "kill the Ak guy!" or something like that. Then he turned around and killed all 5 of them with his drum mag. Second funniest thing that happened was when one of my friends and I were camping in the elektro church with the door locked (the door is unbreakable). Some guy started taunting us and was trying to glitch through the door by running into it. So I walked up to the door, poked my shotgun through the door and shot him dead (and blood went everywhere as he fell to the ground).

Reduce running speed by increments as vehicles are introduced
pjano replied to theirongiant's topic in Suggestions
Vehicles are already readily available, my squad had 4 trucks the other night -
I used to sit on the side of the road in bushes in high traffic areas and watch people run directly passed me. I'm pretty sure a fresh spawn ran about within 1m of me and didn't notice me. That is the most fun I have had with ghillies but they are also useful for spooking players - sometimes I take a warning shot and watch them scatter - half the time they cannot see where you're firing from if you are prone

Lead Producer of DayZ says, "1PP is better"
pjano replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
umm for those who are cherry picking quotes, he did say 1pp is better. "I've personally had some amazing player interaction in those worlds. For those still on the fence when it comes to trying first person only servers, I strongly encourage you to give them a chance" imo 1st person is better in all FPS -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
pjano replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
does counter strike have third person? nope does real life have third person? nope does day z need third person? nope -
Dayz doesn't feel like dayz and heres 2 reasons whyu
pjano replied to johnjiggles's topic in Gallery
I agree, that music definitely made you feel like you were playing as somebody that was losing their sanity and it was quite epic. And anybody that didn't like it had the option to turn it off anyway. They should at least leave it in there to make the game suspenseful for new players Edit: I remember the first time I played the mod in 2012, which was a night server - the game was very creepy and had a dark atmosphere. -
Perhaps it would be a good idea if people are no longer able to spawn inside of buildings. i.e. If they log out in a building, the next time they spawn in will be on the outside. Then again people will complain about not being able to spawn into their own base

Vehicles - Will we be able to shoot from them?
pjano replied to NikoGT's topic in General Discussion
shooting from vehicles has been a thing since the early days of Tribes 2 and BF1942. I don't see why they wouldn't add it in -
-accidentally melted my face off and had to deal with very blurry screen until I figured out you can turn it off -opened a can of beans in an upstairs room while my inventory was full. my legs broke but luckily I had a morphine

I've said this before in other threads but they really need to bring back the endgame elements such as zombie kill count, wire fence/ tank traps/ barricades, tent storage, higher server population, vehicles that are hard to fix and maybe some sort of humanity goals/statistics to keep players coming and interacting with each other. Maybe it is because I've already sunk over 300 hours in the mod and game but I spent hours running around the map today surviving quite easily, going to NWAF, dodging some snipers, going over to the coast etc. and the game feels kind of soulless / pointless in its current state.
