Why vilayer hives are going to reduce the quality of the game (They allow admin abuse)
Tyrtaeus replied to Cramer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Unfortunately, Private servers are the only sure fire way to restrict hacker abuse, what with Battle-Eye being a pile of wank. I play on a private server with ZERO admin abuse, no banning for no reason, no spawning in vehicles/weapons, no nothing. I'd be quite happy with a restriction on admins, provided it happens AFTER the hacking issues are sorted (presumably then, after standalone release) -
[TRADE] Looking for a M136 Launcher.

I thought it only locks onto miltary vehicles, of which their are none in DayZ? -
Theres nothing to do in DayZ

Try and get a group of people to play with, it doesn't have to be a clan. Trust me, it makes the game a WHOLE lot more enjoyable -
DAYZ TEAM NOT GIVING MY SERVER ANY VEHICLES
Tyrtaeus replied to elmendatfc@hotmail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Much as I agree with the sentiment of your post in relation to the OP (and LOLED hard), I think he may speak some truth. The server I play on has had the same issue, and after contacting Vilayer, we were told that all instance ID's over 10,000 no longer have vehicles, at least for the time being, :( -
Yeah, vehicles saving is great... when your server has vehicles (all servers with instance ID's on 1.7.2.6 of over 10,000 are not so lucky my friend :( )

I think the OP is suggesting player controlled areas, not NPC's implemented into the game.

Various groups are already doing this - including Fort Haven, which now has 30+ members and is almost ready to go public with a trading outpost of sorts. Feel free to check us out: http://www.forthaven.co.uk/

Psychology of a Hacker vs Exploiter vs Greifer
Tyrtaeus replied to heliman (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, I think there is most definitely a huge difference between hackers and griefers/bandits, whatever you want to call them. Hackers are people who are too crap/have got to bored of DayZ to play it properly, and thus resort to hacking. They are scum, not legit, and should just go **** themselves. Griefing, whether people like it or not, is a legit aspect of the game. Remember, Rocket wanted this to be a social experiment of sorts, and, although no game could TRULY simulate this kind of scenario, there would undoubtedly be people who would go around killing just because there was nobody to stop them. Granted, it would be a minority, but it would be there. I have infinitely more respect for griefers than hackers, and that's saying something. (FYI, I'm none of the things mentioned) -
Thing is... there are almost 30km of coast line, much of it isolated. There are what, 3, maybe 4 hospitals in game? Far easier to concentrate on.

Edit: damn double post...

Yeah, the poster above makes sense, because no one would like LIVE in Cheranus before the outbreak. God, I'm pretty sure you couldn't even get a flight there from other countries, you had to wash up on the shore if you wanted to visit. /sarcasm

The problem with this is having someone with an LMG sitting just outside the hospital and mowing everyone down when they spawn in. But I agree RE the point of having more varied, interesting spawn points

Supercars and map related ideas.
Tyrtaeus replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Your idea for a larger map and cities is sound in principle, but it also means a HUGE amount of work extra for the DayZ team (not in itself a problem, but takes their time away from important things like fixing bugs and making the gameplay work) Chances are you'd also need a Goliath of a computer to cope with all the rendering of skyscrapers etc. As for super cars, do you not think they would be really impractical in the event of an actual zombie apocalypse? I mean, sure they're fast, but like you say, they have very little storage space and are quite fragile as far as I'm aware - wouldn't stand up to crashing through a few zeds very well. If you want massive open world super cars, why not go play need for speed? They will do the whole customisation thing you talked about far better than DayZ ever could -
Whats your autowalk contraption ?

Use a stud key: Got a chunky keyboard and I stick it right down the 'W' key. Works a dream
