Well said. I also agree with you. Still, I can see why many experienced players don't feel threatened by Zeds at all and only care if other survivors are around them. Once the stand alone is released I hope we'll see a new or let's say a proper kind of Zeds. For example they should be able to run in buildings so you can't take them out easily if you have a gun and enough ammo. What I would also love to see is dire consequenses for firing a gun in the city. That should attract a herd of Zeds making it for you almost impossible to fight them off. I think this would go hand in hand with your idea of the game.

So last night I was playing on your server and got killed while heading north. No questions axed. ;( However, your server is still listed running under patch 1.7.2.4 in DayZ Commander. I guess it's a DayZ Commander problem that the correct version isn't showing. That also explains why I couldn't join your server a few minutes ago because I still have 1.7.2.4. Are you restarting just now?

OMG, thanks! That's what I was looking for but didn't know how to even phrase it on google. Accidentally firing a gun happened only once or twice but the Alt locking was really a pain in the ass and always forced me to disconnect and rejoin.

How do you get refund for a used cd key? Where I am this is not possible. You can return the game if it is still sealed. But once you get your hands on the cd key you are stuck with it!

200? Omg! I have tried to play on US servers but on most I get around 175. It feels like breakdancing in slomo through Chernarus. Don't you experience really low fps with that ping?

DayZ the mod is an experiment. The idea behind this was to prove to BI this concept can work. And the experiment was successful indicated by the numbers of players and the announcement of the stand alone version. This happened without any serious marketing. Even if players have left the mod because of the bugs and hackers. I am sure some of them will be back with the release of the stand alone. Maybe not during the early stages (alpha, beta etc.) but a final version will attract them. You also have to keep in mind there is a huge market out there which doesn't bother with alpha or beta releases. Once the final is close to release I am sure BI will get the marketing machine running. The critics are already on their side just because of the mod. Imagine what a stand alone could achieve with (almost) no bugs and better graphics.

Yesterday night I was running north of Elektro and saw a movement on my right side. I immediately went to prone and there he was. A player called Dober. Get it? When you have your crosshair on a player, it tells you the range, name and the gender. In this case "man". He was crouching and looking through his binoculars to Elektro about 15 to 20 m from my position. He had an Alice pack and probably some decent gear. He then crouchwalked maybe 1 or 2 m, stopped and looked again through his binoculars, then again 1 or 2 m and binoculars. And all I could think was oh my gaaaawd, shooooooo cuuuuuuuute the way he is approaching Elektro with me standing right behind him. I wanted to put him right in my Alice pack and take him with me or maybe at least his gear so I could have something which would me remind me of this sweet moment. Then... I thought about my first life how I spawned on the shores with a flashlight instead of a Makarov although all the vids I had seen on youtube showed players spawning with Makarovs. I thought about all those Zeds who saw me from the moon although the vids on youtube showed players crouchwalking maybe 20m past them without taking any aggro. I thought about that hacker who spawned the whole server in a room and killed us all. I thought about that sniper who shot me down to 2000 blood but couldn't finish me off because I ran for cover. I thought about that guy who had set up a tent as a trap right in the middle of the road and waited for me around the corner to shoot me in the back. I thought about another guy walking up from behind and hacking me to death with his axe. Maybe you can imagine what happened next. I switched from my flashlight to my Makarov and aimed at Dobers head. Why the flashlight? Because of Alt Tab and accidentally firing your gun. Then I hit the direct chat button and told him, "Don't move or I am going to shoot you, Dober. I have you in my sniper rifle's scope." I thought telling him that I am aiming at him with my Makarov would be a bit revealing. "SO DON'T MOVE! Lay down. I said lay down." Well, Dober never listened or replied to me. He ran maybe 10 m and went prone. Then he tried to locate me but still couldn't see me. All I could think was what a killjoy. Not a single bit of imagination. I have read all those stories about strange but fun adventures in DayZ. For example how a group would "kidnap" a guy and "force" him to scout cities for them, while they would cover him with sniper rifles and at the same time aiming at him. How he would comply and get a can of beans etc. when successfully following their orders. The rewards getting better with each scouting mission. That was frustrating and Dober deserved to die for disappointing me. Well, I let Dober be Dober, made a 180 and took off without wasting a single bullet. He is probably still trying to locate me. Or maybe he is lying there dead with a bullet from another survivor in his head and Zeds filling their bellies with his meat. What happened next? I ended up lost in the woods with two tents in my inventory (one apparently duped, no idea how this happened) instead of three cans of Pepsi and a flashing thirst icon. Then I thought of Dober and all the delicious Pepsi and/or Coke cans, a map and a compass in his Alice pack. And what's the lesson here? Karma is a bitch and I should have shot Dober at point-blank range. Wait, what?

I don't know how I would have reacted. At first probably panic and then I would have thought he had the chance to kill me without revealing himself and did not. So let's see how this plays out or what he has in mind. We already know that most or many players would kill on sight. Someone talking to you while he has the upper hand is odd. However I am not really upset about that. I am just cursing the second tent which replaced my Pepsi cans. Haven't logged in since because all I can do now is run and hope to hit a village with the tiny chance of finding a drink before I die of thirst. Or maybe Karma isn't a bitch and once I log in Dober will be standing right in front of me offering me a Pepsi. ;D

Why do I have the feeling that you are big fat hairy guy going bald sitting in his parents basement and enjoying all the attention you are getting as a "girl"? I fell once for it. Newly joined WoW and I was playing with a female friend. She had another friend I didn't know playing a female character. I was flirting with her till level 25 I think. Then it turned out she was actually a he. It was totaly news to me that guys would play female characters as I had no prior experience with MMORPG. Apparently this is a tactic to avoid getting killed by the enemy because they would prefer to shag you then hack you to death. Well, it was weird to pretend my flirting was just a friendly banter between dudes. So, pics or it didn't happen ;P

I feel ya. This is why I gave up on WoW. Although DayZ is addictive, I really like that you can also take your time off and come back after a while without the feeling that you have been left behind. But seriously I would always go first for the girl than for a stinky Zed.

Imo everone of the devs should concentrate on DayZ and not divide their resources on DayZ the PVP version and DayZ the PVE version. I am still quite new to DayZ and I have had my experience with Zeds, hackers and KOS players. And yeah, I lost everytime. DayZ is intended as a pure PVP game (not the same as the vanilla WoW PVP servers). The greatest threat isn't the Zeds, it's other survivors. The lesser danger of the Zeds will change with the stand alone release because they will have much more possibilities with direct access to the underlying engine. And I also think that the current only KOS playstyle will change with the stand alone. There might be options for the friendlies and the murderers. Following the announcement of the stand alone Rocket gave an interview and said that he wants different kind of Zeds. Each one posing a uniqe danger to the player. I could imagine that he isn't happy with the "man-mode" (players running through the cities with a Zed herd behind them, entering buildings and offing them with the right hand and texting with the left) and will take measures to prevent that playstyle because this isn't really something a human would do in that scenario or at least survive without sweating blood and tears. There will also be specialisation for the players thus making you more valueable alive than dead for other players. Of course this won't prevent KOS. If someone wants to KOS he will do it. If someone wants to snipe noobs he will do it. Rocket has said, he will give us the world and we have to decide what we want to do with or in it. This doesn't mean that we can say how the world should behave around us. We have to adapt to our surroundings. It's our decision if we want to hide and hunt in the woods or if we want to sit on a hill all day long looking through the scope of a sniper rifle or if we want to go around and give medical help to other players as The Wasteland Medics are doing and so on. I seriously hope DayZ won't take WoW's path. It was fun, nice and shiny at first but Blizzard killed PVP as it should be. First of all it's mostly PVE, even on PVP servers. You have to raid boss monsters to get better gear. Then they introduced PVP Warzones thus killing the PVP everywhere else. Besides, the game is definitely not friendly to casual players. WoW's goal is to get better gear (through PvE). DayZ's goal is to survive (this means against Zeds, environment and other players). So, definitely no to PVE. And definitely no to demands from the community to change the game mechanics etc. because I trust in rocket's vision. This is his world, we just have to survive in it.

So I am running around in the woods. As usually always in circles. I would like to say I know what I am doing but I am lost. Anyways, I have to serverhop because two simply went down. The third one gave me lag. Now I have joined the fourth server and my thirst icon was flashing. Instead of my Pepsi cans I find two tents. I had looted only one yesterday in Cherno. So wth happened? Am I being hacked? And where are my Pepsi cans. Two tents are really nice to have. But I would give them both away for one Pepsi can. I guess I am going to die because of thirst. Well, at least I had two tents for a short while.

Alright thanks, guys. I have logged off for now. Tomorrow I will try to run in a straight line. At least it will be daylight and maybe I am lucky. But as I know my luck I might make it to a village and find nothing to drink. However I will keep the tents because I am certain that I won't find my current location again. I seriously need to learn how to read the stars. PS: I won't get in trouble for having a second tent magically appear in my inventory, will I?

Well, what the title says. Each server I have played on somehow disappeared from Six Launcher and DayZCommander. Does this mean the servers are gone for good? Is there a list for stable servers who are there for a long run? I really would like to settle down on a server where I have a decent ping. It's really a pain in the ass to join a server just to see that you get only 9 fps, disconnect and search for another server. If I only have an hour to play I am just spending the time to join servers. Now I am spending more time on this board than actually playing DayZ.
