Search for a guide on google. There are many out there which will take you through the installation process. There are even some in the New Player section. You don't need to have the actual beta patch for Arma II unless it's required by DayZ. Mine is pretty old and I am running the mod without any problems. As Knax has told you deinstall and reinstall following a guide. That would be the best way.

They will eventually but the standalone has just been announced. The homepage isn't even ready yet. Besides I am sure they want to invest in the standalone than in the mod which belongs to rocket as far as I know. Don't know how it is now but before rocket was working on the mod on his own and not on orders of BI. He was doing it before actually joining the company. They have noticed the spikes in Arma II sales and that's why we are getting a standalone.

I just got a AS50 TWS from a tent. So this means what? I know people with hacked weapons (those who got them from hackers or tents etc. without hacking themselves) won't be banned. But to be on the safe side, should I destroy that weapon, leave it behind? How can I destroy it? I exchanged it with my AKS-74 Cobra. Oh my gaaawd! It's my first decent weapon since the AKS-74 Cobra and this one I got right before the AS50 TWS. I haven't even fired each of the weapon. I guess it's back to the dinner bell then. PS: I know they won't ban me because they have said so but still...make me feel better.

Someone posted in another topic a good fix for that. It was supposed to be from an older patch, I think, but was never implemented. Or maybe he was just proposing that idea which was actually good to solve the mentioned problem. It's simple you shoot someone you loose humanity you patch him up you gain the same amount back or maybe only half of it. But there is always a loophole. You could run through Zeds, get your blood down, kill them all and then let your buddy patch you up.

Why is The WarZ an example? Just curious. Imo, Once the stand alone is out the devs can bury the mod. If they really want to release the alpha of the game in September it shouldn't be too long.

Ah I see I think there is a misunderstanding. According to other players you get humanity over time without actually doing anything to gain. This means if you are in the minus range it will slowly go up once you stop killing others. What I meant was the auto-gain is capped at 2500. If you want to go higher you actually have to do something like patching up other players. That's my assumption because I have never patched up another player and my humanity is at 2500. Maybe I should kill someone to see if there is an auto-gain. ;P

Yeah but you have done something. Yesterday I was checking my humanity the whole day and haven't done any of the stuff you have mentioned above. Still stuck at 2500. I think if you are in the minus range it will gain over time until a certain number if you behave. But so far I don't know if you really gain a bit humanity with just not killing anybody or if you actually have to help others to be on the plus side and eventually become a hero.

According to Soulshaper2 you can be. As for gaining humanity over time. I think it stops at 2500. I have started with that number and I am still there. So I guess you can't become a hero just by sitting in the woods and hunting cows. ;P

Interesting, I am thinking of becoming a medic. Because let's be honest here I am a hero the world doesn't know it yet. What's your strategy? Do you go fully geared to patients or do you hide most of your stuff and just take with you what is necessary in case you get killed. I am just asking in general because I know you won't give away details in order to keep yourself safe from bandits.

If the hero skin stays with you even if you are dead and respawn then I could imagine it will have an effect on KOS. Many players are KOSing because of the fear to get killed if they do otherwise. But those who are doing it for the fun of it or just because they want be bandits won't bother except if they want to have the hero skin. So the only way to get a hero skin is to bandage others and give them blood? Sucks to be a lonewolf.

And that's the problem. It should have been a closed alpha but that would have gone against the goals of the mod and it is also just a mod not a game. They (rocket) wanted to prove this concept can work as a stand alone game. Therefore they needed the numbers and they got more than they wished for. I don't think you'll find many actual games with an open alpha. Honestly, I think they should completely stop the development of the mod aside from a little bug fixing and concentrate on the actual game but they can't do that now with such a large userbase. If they would do that this could backfire.
