How realistic/hardcore do you want it to be? They want to keep it hardcore but if they want to earn money there will be some features to accommodate players. By your logic there should be no respawning of loot or Zeds who magically appear out of thin air once you get near a building. And once you die you should receive a global ban because dead means game over forever. At the end of the day it is just a game and not real life. There will be some features which are not realistic but still fun.

Around 30 min ago I had the same dilemma. Happened to stumble on my first downed chopper and decided to crawl to it. Shooting would have been suicide. Well, when I got to the chopper there was only box of medicines nothing else. =/ I thought maybe the weapons are in the chopper but couldn't get in. Can you repair that chopper and fly away with it? Is all the loot in boxes around the chopper? I guess I was just unlucky.

You betcha. @OP: It's the fear of getting killed. I also regret when I kill another player, especially if I receive a murder for that but what can you do? There are many players out there yelling friendly and then shooting you in the back. This is survival, you do what you have to do.

Well, the standalone will get a bit softer with "working" tents and bases. But that much softness is ok imo. Other than that I want it to stay as hard as possible (That's what she said).

The only way we have paid for DayZ is with blood and tears. If you have any bald patches on your head then also with hair.

No, we have paid for Arma 2 and can play that if we are fed up with hackers, glitches and bugs in DayZ. I am also one of those who bought Arma 2 just for DayZ. Arma 2 is only used for practicing weapons and choppers.

I went there once and I will never ever go back. Don't care how much epic loot you find there. I think you have to drink a Mountain Dew first to really see what's haunting that place. PS: You never talk about Neerg Mountain!

I am playing for three weeks (I think) with breaks and today I have killed the first time. I was at the firestation in Balota, looted a M4A1, turn around and there is a guy standing right next to the stairs. He had night vision goggles and an AS50. So I panicked and shot him. He d/c a bit after the kill That was my first murder and I felt really bad. So I switched my flashlight on and examined his body to see if he was a hero. He wasn't. As he had d/c I took the Goggles, the AS50 TWS, a GPS, a Compass and a silenced M9. After that I went to NWA. It began to rain so I took shelter in the barn south of NWA. Once the rain stopped I got out of the barn and ran right into a guy with a ghillie. He shot at me, my blood was down to 4000 something, I ran away but I was on a open field with one single tree. I ran to the tree, tried to stop the bleeding but he got me there. Spawned in Elektro, it is pitch black and I am really missing the Goggles. I hit the usual spots get some stuff for my journey to NWA and hope the guy hasn't hidden my body. So I ran up there and I am almost there but didn't have enough time because the server was going to restart in 4 minutes. I managed to find my body but before I could loot it the server restarted. Once the server has restarted I decide to hit NWA. BTW I got a silenced MP5 from Stary while I was running to NWA. The sun was slowly coming up and I ran to the radiotower. There I saw a guy in a ghillie coming out from the tower and slowly walking to the Firestation. That was my opportunity for revenge and I shot with my silenced MP5 at him but he managed to run into the firestation. I waited for few minutes but there was no sign of him. It was almost day and I was surrounded by Zeds. I tossed a smoke grenade to clear the area and went around the firestation. He was not in there. Maybe he d/c or he went out from the back door. So I waited few minutes in the firestation and decided to hit the next spot because the firestation was blocked with barbwire. Right when I came out from the back entrance I saw him slowly approaching the firestation. He saw me too and we both shot at eachother. I began to bleed, broke my bones and thought I am as good as dead thanks to the awkward reload system of DayZ. But luck was on my side. He got surrounded by Zeds. I reloaded my silenced MP5 and killed him. That was my second murder and the second time I have regretted shooting someone. I think he wasn't the guy who killed me during my first trip to NWA. I am sorry TKRussian...something and k!llername.

You can have my beans. I went only once up there and all I would find were Zeds. That was before 1.7.2.5 and it was really hard to move in that area because of the graphical glitches. I guess that's why I didn't meet any snipers or other survivors. Well I got some decent weapons and then I just died. *lulz It have been days since I have played but I might make another run to the NWA. However, it is really painful to run from the coast up to NWA because it seems to take forever and first I have to find enough supplies so I can survive the journey. The question is how do you move on the airfield? If there are snipers they might have a hard time hitting you if you never stop in the open and always be on the move but how do you keep moving fast without getting overwhelmed by Zeds? Sure, I can run for the trees and hide behind one but this might get a bit difficult if you have to juggle with one hand the Zeds with the other one or two snipers. Can you lose Zeds also when entering a building? This happened once to me and I still don't know if it was a feature or just a bug. Btw, it was during nighttime.

Besides the mod will be used as a playground for ideas. They'll see how it works here and if satisfied implement it in the standalone. But if you are really having fun with the mod you should switch to the standalone it will be far better once it reaches gold. At least I hope so. And you'll be supporting rocket with buying the standalone. He earns nothing from the Arma II sales but the stand alone will make him rich. And imo he deserves it.

All three game you have mentioned are raking in the dollars. So I guess DayZ will also survive you not paying for it.

I will pay what they have decided so far. For the alpha it's going to be around 15 Euros I think. The final won't be more than 30. Why am I going to pay and play? Because it's an awesome game. Brought me back to PC from my xbox360. Well I guess actually I have to pay more for it if you count in that I need to buy a new PC. -_-

And then? The duping problem is still there. In no time you would have the old state again. They can't fix the duping in the mod. I am sure they will handle it much better with the game. So just wait for it.

No! I know it's annoying getting killed by a sniper but that is no reason to remove them. If we go down that path we'll sit in the end all around a fire with just our flashlights talking about the good old times.
