    Where the game is going

It's to tide us over until hunting is added when we can have real bacon and ignore the major issues.

    Where the game is going

Clearly, the NATO forces brought in truckloads of Tactical Bacon to the savages of Chernarus.

    Placeholder items and release

It's more about the direction DayZ is heading. Little things start to add up to show a bigger picture. I was under the impression that DayZ was fairly serious and was trying to be "authentic". If this isn't some sort of tonal shift from serious to funny, is the art team without direction? DayZ isn't doing so hot right now, so if the devs are screwing around I think it's valid to be concerned. And yes, it does impact immersion. It's one little pin being stuck in the pincushion. After a while it adds up.

    Where the game is going

When was DayZ supposed to be humorous? Why are things like tactical bacon being added at all, as opposed to more reasonable things like the canned peaches?

    Placeholder items and release

That's why I'm scared. Tone appears to be shifting, Rocket's leaving, and the whole thing is apparently a "flawed concept". Is Tactical Bacon what we have to look forward to?

    Cooking & Campfire

ITT: People that don't read/knee-jerk alpha response. If cooking isn't listed in the patchnotes it probably isn't in; it's the kind of think you'd see plastered all over the forum or /r/dayz once it is. I'm sure it won't make a difference, but have you tried rice yet?

    It has happened...

Are we talking about DayZ or WarZ?

    It has happened...

If you rebrand a chunk of shit as a pile of crap, does that make it any less of a chunk of shit?

    Easter Eggs? Aliens? Mysteries? [Official]

Will the current "easter egg" textures/items like this, this, or this be replaced before release? Same with map "easter eggs" like this one? Edit: And have stuff translated into Russian? Edit: Also, will there be different high poly models for the Inspect option? This looks rather bad.

    Patch 42.116181

Zombies don't seem to slow down as often. A lady and a walrus were chasing me and were keeping pace, even got a few hits in. The reports of "eyes in the back of their heads" are false, but their detection is still inconsistent.
  11. Since we've had this shit for 2 years now, I'd go for the latter.
  12. Are they still an issue or were zombies hotfixed? They seemed fine just now.
  13. It was inconsistent and didn't do much to inspire confidence.
  14. Oh, I had fun for about a week. Then I got burned out and there hasn't been anything to do in 3 months now. The old guard from Freeside has moved on mostly or are biding their time with other games. We've been playing a ton of War Thunder and I beat the Stick of Truth the other day. Every once in a while I come back to check up and it's the same shit. To fit it in with your analogy, I ordered a big mac expecting that I'd get a big mac and that eventually it would sprout into a magnificent mignon. Instead they served me a half of a big mac and all of the other maggots eating it have been getting sick and leaving. I asked about it and the restaurant gave me a cup of sawdust to put on it to make it taste better, but it doesn't do much for the taste. What's funny is that some of the maggots eating the big mac insist that it's the best big mac they've ever eaten and that I should be proud to be a part of it. I disagree, and they shout this strange war chant "alpha alpha alpha praise Dean Hall". Odd.
  15. Except we paid for it... Doesn't matter what naive notion the DayZ team has that slapping the warning on the front will keep people from buying, people have bought the game to have fun. Unless there's a nice "gimme a refund, I didn't mean to buy the alpha" page somewhere on the site, that argument is moot. I don't think Steam will give you a refund either, though if you started tossing around WarZ you might get somewhere. Just remember kids, Rocket Dean Hall is a man ordained by heaven. Any mortal that dares question His word is to be publicly shat on and berated. How could anyone question our Lord and Saviour Dean Hall? We should be thrilled that we've been allowed to financially support their release. How dare we expect anything in return!

    Do you want binoculars? POLL

No, I don't want binoculars. I'd rather squint.
  17. You must not have played the mod or known a server admin then. We'd report and *crickets*. Ban them ourselves and they run to the forums and cry.
  18. The standalone is losing people's interest. No matter how "great" "Rocket's vision" is, if you've been bleeding customers constantly since launch you've done something wrong. Maybe BIS should have adopted a limited alpha with open play on the weekends, or maybe they should have allotted more manpower from the start. Either way, what's done is done and the fact stands that DayZ peaked today at only 27k CCU. CCU peaked within a week of launch at 45k players. That's 40% fewer players now than 4 months ago. Something isn't working, and if this continues and everyone loses interest, there won't be a standalone. People have every right to complain or be concerned if a product they paid for, warning or not, appears to be failing or not meeting their expectations. We're paying customers, not cunts.
  19. Probably because Arma 3 is the one showing growth. In another month or so it'll overtake DayZ for CCU. Edit: Apparently I can't post images, here's the link. http://steamgraph.net/index.php?action=graph&jstime=1&appid=107410q221100&from=1364799600000&to=End+Time With Rust and 7 Days to Die http://steamgraph.net/index.php?action=graph&jstime=1&appid=251570q221100q107410q252490&from=1370070000000&to=End+Time
  20. I must have met at least 15 people today on the Hardcore servers. Not a single one was hostile.

Something is very wrong with DayZ

In fact, I killed the only person I saw killed. It was some guy duping their body in the group I was with, so I got a nice keyhole and took them out before leaving Elektro. Elektro. Friendlies in Elektro. When I was leaving, I met another group of 3. One punched me and knocked me out, but didn't take anything and let me go. Met yet another person inland and they gave me nice things.

Dyslecxi shows just how amazing 1PP only is in NEW video.

It'd be great if we had Arma 3's stance system. Oh well.
  23. Where about is this? I wasn't aware there was extra coast available? Also, in b4 shotguns have 90 degree spread.
  24. Spawned from this, which links to a post Rocket made mentioning a "hardcore" hive that has "Hide Body" disabled. I'm of the opinion that if DayZ has a different difficulty, it shouldn't be a "hardcore" mode. Hardcore is default, if people want to play on the pussy hive the devs should add easy mode later. I'm also of the opinion that hiding problems with separate hives is another shitty move that doesn't address anything. Instead of finding a way to fix a feature, there's talk from Rocket of just pushing the problem in the corner and pretending it doesn't exist. Like 3PP:OFF servers, it's a lazy and boring non-fix. As such, instead of just turning off "Hide Body", why not actually FIX IT??? Here's the solution: Able to drag bodies.Bodies decay after a day or so and persist through server restarts. Bodies begin to attact bugs/flies after an hour or so, and being around them leaves you with a chance to become diseased. The chance to become diseased increases with time left unburied. Rotting bodies could cause vomiting and other status effects if left for too long. Items on the body (clothes mainly) will become more and more damaged as the body rots. Corpses could also attract zombies.Shovel in hands -> Dig Shallow Grave. Drag body near Shallow Grave and select Bury Body. Grave remains for a half a day and can be dug up, revealing a corpse that can be inspected for cause of death and possibly looted. The longer a body remains in a grave, the less info is revealed when inspected and the more items are lost, if it is lootable. There is a slight chance that being near a shallow grave can cause sickness/disease. Digging a Shallow Grave costs energy/water (from food). A Filled Shallow Grave appears as an area of disturbed dirt. Shovel in hands -> Dig Grave. Drag body near and you can Bury Body. Grave remains for 1/4 of a day and can only be dug up with another shovel. The corpse decomposes faster, the grave is harder to see, and it will not cause sickness/disease. The grave costs more energy to dig than a Shallow Grave.
