Graphics and animations don't provide anything to the gameplay, which is where DayZ most feels like a kickstarter project.
-
What I find the most interesting about this is most people would shoot a medic anyways if they ran into them in the field.
-
Refuse? Masks, tactical bacon, mountain backpacks. Avoid? Anything chambered in .22lr, useless items like wrenches and shit, crowbars, baseball bats, other useless melee weapons, most medical supplies (food is all I need).

Experienced the same on Exp before stable released a few weeks back.

I even did this part for you. weapon_optics/DZ/weapons/attachments/optics/cfgVehicles.cpp: weapons_firearms/DZ/weapons/firearms/mosin9130/cfgWeapons.hpp: weapons_firearms/DZ/weapons/firearms/M4/cfgWeapons.hpp: "weaponOpticsLongRange" could be simplified to "weaponOpticsRIS" and you could just allow the use of any RIS attachment on any RIS rail. Also of note is that the LRS mentions the Ruger 10/22, so we may be seeing it as an attachment soon.

Nope Impacts your aim from what I can tell so far. Won't kill you. Sticks are rare for some reason. Some do, like the ballistic helmet (bullets) or the motorcycle helmet (fists). Stab vest for stabs.

Had an idea last night, let me know what you think: The developers in this case are not only building the game and it's mechanics, they're also building the players. Warning label or not, 1.7 million copies have been sold (or thereabouts). That's a lot of players. The current environment DayZ provides to the players is this: Abundant food, ammo, water, weapons, clothes, delivered on demand when servers restartMany ways to harm or grief other playersLack of any sort of external driving forces other than other playersIf DayZ is aiming to create a survival game player, it's failing. The environment doesn't put survival first. The devs are unintentionally creating thousands of KOSers instead of creating survivors. Regardless of what DayZ does to combat the deathmatch, once the players are set in that mentality there's not much you can do to change that. They can stop this by making new and existing mechanics equivalent to what they will be at release. Not exact, equivalent. If guns are supposed to be accurate and rare, make them accurate and rare. If food is supposed to be rare and starvation is supposed to be a real threat, make it one. That's sort of the gist of it. Gotta disagree with you there. Putting in systems like the mod's humanity and bandit skin were and are too ham-fisted. They make the moral decisions too clear cut and there are many edge cases that can't be accounted for (self defense). I think that by providing an environment that puts survival first they can improve a lot of things in DayZ. Less food, less water, less weaponry, more zombies, the ability to hold an area free of zombie spawns, loot that doesn't respawn on server restart, and the ability to store gear.

Seems 50/50 to me and still doesn't give you an excuse to be an ass. I wasn't aware that it was acceptable for community support to act like that. Make a second account if you want to mingle. I'd be fine with that as well. The block attached to the mounting rings on the LRS is the mosin's rail adapter. Pic related but not the same one I don't think.

It's a silly Korean or whatever spoof of it. It was fun. -
I'm a great example. I've got a box of 240 some rounds of 5.56 and the best M4 I can make and my destination is Svetlo and then from there Elektro. It's gonna be a firefight. I suppose it's a step in the right direction though, it'll be the first time I've geared up with a set goal in SA. In the mod I was the friendliest neutral trader in the world, now look at me :(
-
I'd rather just die in the first place and get back to my fists. Having gear is boring.

EDIT: Spoiler because spoilers. -
Currently with the right parts the M4 is a nice rifle, though it ought to be that way regardless. Was hitting a sign at something like 200-300m with very high accuracy when I actually got the crosshair lined up.

Can anyone justify the low price of this game anymore ?

I think at the end of the day I just don't trust Rocket, nor by extension BIS. The largest tangible problem with a subscription is that there are plans to support the modding community after release and allow private hives. I'm not sure how they could manage that if it were to require a subscription; DayZ is probably too decentralized to support it. Either way, you win. I can agree with what you're saying, and while I won't like it and it would deter some people from buying I would be willing to consider it if the price were right and there was a value associated with it (dedicated servers, etc). You should drink more coffee :) Developing games isn't free, nor is DayZ "huge" by any standard. Do try and remember that they're at something like 1.7 million purchases at $30 a pop in only 4 months. Tight on cash they are not. -

Is it more of an "I've got more time, so I pick my shots more often" kind of thing? Nvm. -
What kind of server architecture do you guys have? Had to add multiplayer into a mobile game a few months ago and it was just through sockets, ended up building my own authoritative server to mitigate cheating, though there are still a few places where we have holes that can't be patched because of the client's desired features :(

Doesn't do squat for recoil, neither does the compensator as it should. Battlefield has a great bipod system, if a little sticky at times. I'd hope they'd either model it off that or ACE, which is a little more janky in my experience, though they let you steady yourself on vertical walls and such which is pretty sweet. -

Nope, reduces dispersion by 0.05 or thereabouts when deployed and prone. -

Sorry about that, couldn't tell what the "didn't you read the disclaimer" bit was in reference to. Thank you for clarifying. -
The Ruger isn't going to reach out to 800m either. If the scope fits, why not? TY Inception.
-
Textures are done. Model just needs to be positioned. You can also note the little nuts that hold the scope onto that little piece of metal. Same reason we can drink bleach, I suppose. Also, maybe for shooting things? Maybe the same reason there are references in code for it to be attached to the Ruger? I gotta say, I expected more of you. Good ol community support.

We pay BIS. BIS pays us? Didn't we read the warnings? People and their knee-jerk "hurr durr alpha" responses, I swear. I've already got trouble convincing people to buy DayZ at $30, what could I possibly say to make someone drop $40 or $60 on an alpha??? -

First, don't be a prick. Second, don't assume everyone has a lot of disposable income set aside for their vidya. I spend my extra money going out with friends and eating good food. You might have more dough to roll around your games, but you don't need to be an ass about it. Third, it's the same reason I won't be participating in ESO, even though I had a really good time in the closed beta. Monthly payments are an outdated concept left over from WoW. ESO is $60 up front and they graciously let you play the first month for free. After that it's the classic $15 a month until you get tired of it and leave. If I were to play ESO for a year, I'd have to spend $225 sans tax. Even if I only played for a few months, I'd still be paying nearly $100. It's like the series I've played for the last decade is being held at knife point and someone's demanding my wallet. It'd precisely because I don't rely on my parents any more that the idea of wasting money on something like that is so repulsive. That's not even getting into whether or not DayZ has the ability to become worth a subscription. "Walking Sim 2012 2013 2014, only $XX.99 a month!". Or I could take the low road and spout bullshit about how DayZ will never have a subscription because "it's not part of Dean's vision". If you want to pay a monthly subscription, you might as well just buy a copy of DayZ for a friend each month and leave the rest of us cheap bastards in peace. Tabula Rasa was the last time I paid a subscription. No one played in the high level areas and the Devs packed up and left. Before that I think it was Runescape or something, which I've no complaints about. No no no, we're paying BIS. Most large companies have dedicated teams for testing in an early state. The only time the consumer gets their hands on the game is when the publisher decides it's acceptable enough to put the Beta label on it and start charging for "early access". Edit: Or, if the developer is strapped for cash and needs that sweet sweet fanboy money. -

I can't think of a specific occasion where I encountered a cheater on BF3. I don't have an hour count to flaunt though (I'd have to reinstall Origin I think) 274 hours and 35 minutes. In SA I've met one and been killed by another. Overall it's a tamer kind of hacking than the Mod. There's teleporting and flying around and speedhacks/wall removal hacks, but other than that it's all good. They still die if you shoot them. At least entire servers don't die at the same time anymore.
