Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
Hurrdhurr replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
What i want most from the standalone is a reworked ammo system, where you for example find a box of 9mm ammo that can be loaded into any weapon that uses it, instead of finding just magazines. Ofc you should be able to find spare magazines as well, but they should be pretty rare. And increased gun damage, it's just silly o have to shoot someone like 7 times. A 9mm gun does pack quite a punch after all, you wont be standing like nothing happened after one or two shots... As it is now, a pistol is barely even a self defence gun, it is only useful for headshotting zombies or if you sneak up on someone. And last, a bigger variety on low-mid tier weapons, and make high end military weapons and ammo way less common than it is now. That would force you to use your ammo wisely. Having a fully loaded magazine to your AK should make you feel powerful :) -
1 fps in menu when updating beta patch
Hurrdhurr replied to Hurrdhurr's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Like i said, it was a problem with my gpu, not with the beta patch. I needed to restart my computer after an update, the gpu went to 99% load if i did anything like moving my mouse cursor. No wonder it didn't want to run a game properly B) -
So i have a rather annoying problem, and i have no idea how to fix it.. I installed the latest beta patch, and now i get 1 frame per second in the menu. When i go to the server browser, it is obvious that something is really wrong, because it just keeps updating the list, then all the servers disappear, to later come back up, then disapper from the list again and so on.. I tried to join one, got to the select gender menu, then after that it got stuck on the loading screen, waited for about 10 minutes before giving up. I installed the patch just like i've read i should, and successfully done once before, i ran the exe. Then i copied arma2oa in the beta folder and placed it in the main folder, overwriting the old one, and then i launch it from Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch. I've also tried downloading an earlier beta, same problem there, so i assume i'm doing something wrong. Anyone knows whats up? Edit: Nevermind, problem was related to my gpu, just a coincidence that it happened the same morning i installed the beta patch. Problem solved now.

It had a lot better accuracy over range than other handguns though, only the revolver is close. And since it has 17 shots per mag it's a lot better. Definitely my favourite handgun. Just aim for the head, it's good for killing zombies, but for other players you obviously want a primary weapon

Oh the irony -
Have you ever tried playing with a 120 hz screen, getting a consistent 120 fps or higher? It's a clear difference. Maybe not in arma 2 since it is a slower paced game where split seconds don't matter as much, and mouse movement is pretty damn unsmooth to begin with, but believe me, when playing faster games it really makes a difference in how responsive it feels, just navigating in windows feels more smooth in 120hz, and that is not placebo effect. It's true that it doesn't make a big difference, but if you play competitively with highly skilled players those tiny differences can make the difference between losing a fight or winning.
