Debug Forrest, Lost countless hours of gameplay.. HELP ME
UbiquitousBadGuy replied to -9k- Phaerix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not to be an asshole but you lost it. Relog and go get it again. Shit happens in this game and it isn't pleasant but you can take some comfort in the fact that everyone has suffered similarly. Going to close as the purpose of the thread can not be filled. -
i am just fed up of this mod
UbiquitousBadGuy replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
I'm saying this in the most patient and calm way I can but...play another game. Why is that so taboo? Of course you know it's alpha but since you're not being paid to participate, you can be forgiven for taking some time off. No one is holding your feet to the fire. I've done it more than I care to admit but I do it to maintain my sanity and perspective. -
PvG:Games are for Entertainment

Because we have a bunch of insecure assholes who like to complain and brag how they play/understand the game better than anyone ever could. That's why. -

Take a break from the game. You can complain but do so constructively. Closed for the rampant flaming and trolling. -
Please confirm if real rocket or not
UbiquitousBadGuy replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, it's probably the real rocket. And would could blame him? He's tired of the hacker's ruining this mod and dragging a whole bunch of other people along with them would probably don't fully understand the ramifications of what they are doing. -

How Does Zombie Spawning Work?
UbiquitousBadGuy replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
They spawn in when there is a human presence detected near structures or certain fields. Respawning seems to vary but universally seems to be too fast for most people. Longer intervals would be nice, yes. -

is Rocket giving up on Dayz?
UbiquitousBadGuy replied to Torothin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Unsubstantiated rumors leading to nothing of value to discuss on. Closed. -
Scheduled wipes wouldn't be a terrible idea. Resetting the playing field and purging the game of hacked items could be beneficial not only to players but to the devs as they can track progression and trends a lot easier.

This game is becoming less fun.

I agree the balance should be evened out a bit more. Currently it's very hard to start but very easy once you get outfitted to the point that players go looking for risk because they have nothing else to conquer. It shouldn't be this way; the difficulty should be fairly consistent through-out. Also some new players will leave no matter what the game does to them. They're just finicky, bored run-and-gunners or the game doesn't honestly entertain them. But the thing people seem to forget is that we've all had the experience in previous patches of surviving more than a day. New players come in and get trampled and then leave, thinking that's all the game has to offer. Whereas we are all trying to get back to that experience that was easier to accomplish before the update. Simply, we know how good this game can get based on previous experiences, so we tough it out. New players don't have that luxury and everything they see for the first time sharply impacts their opinion of whether it's worth continuing. -
I think it's pretty cool. Don't know what these guys are so defensive about.

One thing I'm seeing a lot in games is the improvisation of stealth kills through conventional materials (The Walking Dead game and Max Payne 3 come to immediately to mind). These scenarios usually have the hero modifying their weapon into a quick-and-dirty suppressed weapon that is not ideal in the situation but functional enough to quietly dispatch a few enemies. So what I'm suggesting here is that the game add a few more trash items like plastic bottles, rags, and tape, that can be assembled into a makeshift suppressor ideal for pistols, notably the makorov. It would reduce the noise generated by the gun making it more effective against dispatching a Zed without drawing aggro from the rest of them but would be extremely limited to how many times it could be used. Let's say...3 times, as an arbitrary limit. This is something I feel has potential as it adds a simple crafting mechanic that gives players some flexibility in engaging zombies while given them more motivation to pick up random materials. It could be balanced by making the bottle-suppressor only usable X amount of times, have severely reduced accuracy/stopping power, or controlling rarity of the materials. To be clear, I only suggest this as something that could be applied to pistols, even if only the Makorov, but I think it's a system that could be balanced well and introduce more flavor to the game. What does everyone think?

Closed until I can go through the thread and warn people/delete posts. Way to go guys. Thread reopened. Posts have been deleted and their posters dealt with according to severity. This should be ample evidence of what I intend for not just in this thread, but every thread I moderate. If you want to act like barbarians and tear the place to shit, I'm going to respond accordingly.

Let's get back on track people, I rather not wade through a 12 page thread looking for comments to delete or posters to warn because of excessive trolling but I certainly will if I have to. My personal opinion? I think that family dynamics is a bit out of the scope of this mod as we are are dealing with survival mechanics, not society rebuilding ones. Also long term goals seem a bit detracting to a game where death is so easily accomplished. Still, as long as discussion is in earnest, I can't really justify closing a topic because it's a "weird" idea. Simply don't comment if you feel the idea has no merit.

Female ghillie suit/camo option?
UbiquitousBadGuy replied to rmc_blackcat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Does it default to the "male" model when using a ghillie suit on a female avatar? Probably okay for now, as long as the female vocals are still active. -

Bullsh*t CoD bastards
UbiquitousBadGuy replied to Celetrontmm's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In this thread: flaming, dick waving, trolling, tears, and general angst. Celetrontmm, take a deep breath, go offline for awhile, and then come back and discuss the game; warts and all. The rest of you: no one has asked you to be a douche and taunt the guy for having a bad run. If you're going to show up in these kind of threads just to mercilessly troll, I might have to take some unpleasant action. This game is harsh enough, nothing obligates you to kick a man when he's already down. Closed
