Having friends with you in the first place is a big advantage and probably the best way to get past the learning curve for beginners in this game. I was not so lucky when I started. It went somewhat like this: "Ok, I think I see some buildings over there" ..."OH BEJEBUS! ZOMBIES! RUNNING THROUGH THE FOREST NOW! OH MY GOD THERE'S A PILE OF BODIES! Ok just keep running, just keep running, just keep ru-oh, there's a town, and I can hear gunfire. Sweet other survivors!" Oh, I was so naive back then.

How do I play now that i'm fully geared
Scribe (DayZ) replied to zillabunny's topic in New Player Discussion
It would definitely make my day seeing a random bus driving around like a drunkman playing loud music throughout the wasteland. But on topic, my first endgame went like this, "well I'm set. what haven't I done yet? well I don't know, I haven't seen that side of the map yet" and I started walking. Although tbh nvg and snipers are over rated, they take away the thrill imo. I preffer an acog, 1911, and survival supplies in a decent backpack. You have to see gear as a means to an end rather than an end without meaning. -
I've seen players with 20+ days survived...HOW?

Protip. Play on unpopulated servers. -
I don't think spambots have mothers.

The guy came in after you, did he not? I would call that self defense. Even if you did patch him back up he probably would have gotten up and shot the next guy who came along. Also, LOL spam.

I don't think he is, but you just might be judging upon the quality of your posts. Tip. Never tell someone you just met that you're leaving. You might hurt their feelings. -

If it's hard to be seen it's also hard to see. -
I fully understand where you're coming from. The question was mainly concerning teenagers and such, it came from my experience as a teenager myself, I noticed how drastically uncomfortable my friends felt when dealing with adults that I regularly hung out with and even more so I noticed that young people seem to have a hard time getting along with adults just about everywhere I looked. It just kinda bothers me that even 5 years difference can have a big impact on how most people act around each other. I don't know it might just be how I was raised, but I was never like that. I always treated everyone the same as a kid, although that did get me in trouble from time to time but most of the time I made friends. Don't get me wrong respect is very important and it is something everyone should learn and apply to their behavior, but there's a difference between respect and disassociation.

6 mags that hold 10 bullets each is better than 10 mags that hold 7 bullets each. -
I have a philosophical question, it may also fit into categories such as sociology and psychology, but never mind that. Why is it that most kids and some adults feel so differentiated from anyone that isn't in the same age group, that they treat them so differently and feel somewhat uncomfortable even in relaxed situations or situations where they may have a large amount of similarities? Also, nice tacos.

If you can't run, and you can't shoot. Be helpful. P.s. Unless if it's a zombie. Being helpful would mean being eaten. That's bad. -

If at first you don't fit, don't try again until you put that huge rifle away, or else you might break a leg. -

Would you by chance have an M16A4 Acog? I've died recently from a backstabbing newb after a 12 day long life. Having my favorite gun and a mag or 2 would easily get me jump started. Also I would happily bring you any loot I don't have a use for in the future. This is a great thing you're doing and if you ever need help keeping that stache alive, just ask and I'll see what I can do. -
I was heading north in the most western forest on the map and found this small farmhouse NNW of Myshkino with a white offroad truck. What was weird was the field in front of the farmhouse was covered in wondering zed, almost completely surrounding it, except for the woods behind it. Was this a chance encounter or does this farmhouse always spawn this many zed?

I did encounter someone in pustoshka that day, so maybe I was unwittingly trailing the guy.

Discuss: Your Spawning Strategy
Scribe (DayZ) replied to Silodiloz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So far I've only spawned on the south coast so my initial spawn strategy is situational based on that fact. -First I make sure to read which town I'm near as I'm running for the trees hoping not to be spotted by a wondering bullet salesman. -From there I turn around, to look at the coast and go right until I've hit kamenka. (I usually decide against trying to get anything from there as it rarely is anything useful and there are no real good angles to get in and out) -Heading north hitting the dearstands on the way, always making sure to have an escape plan when approaching them with or without a weapon. (such as a line of pinetrees and bushes) -Once I hit pavlovo I have the choice of, more deer stands to the east, or a safer route to zelenogorsk to the north. (deciding which one usually depends on how much food I have or if I have a gun yet) --I start heading east from the church into a patch of trees and continue to the next treeline. From there I try to keep my distance from the road but still keep a small amount of visual contact to my right. When the road stops following the trees I just start keeping the clearing of trees to my right until I find a couple deerstands and a road. I try positioning myself perfectly perpendicular to the road and keep traveling in that direction ignoring all the small shacks and houses until I hit a solid amount of trees. Then turning right following the treeline hitting two deerstands pretty far apart then finding a powerline I go over to that and follow it to the right towards the trees and go left hitting a shack and a barn. From there it starts getting kinda dangerous, I run across the huge field towards kurgan and enter zelenogorsk from there. --Heading north from pavlovo is a pretty straight shot into the supermarket in zelenogorsk. There's some trees connected to pavlovo that I exit into and just follow north. Usually it's pretty easy to spot the one deerstand this direction and go into the next clearing. I continue to follow the treeline until I can see zelenogorsk then I just head straight for the powerlines and down into the market. - where I go from zelenogorsk is anybodies guess. But usually by this time I'm fairly confident with what I have. -
Shot a man in Stary Sobor, was I right to do it?
Scribe (DayZ) replied to skulkingfox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have been playing on a russian server lately so I have had to learn a tiny bit of russian to survive, but overall it's a good idea to learn some quick phrases in other languages, even if its just "Hello, don't shoot" Those words could be the difference between hearing someguy shout nonsense at you and hearing recognizable words horribly pronounced in a weird accent. To be honest though you handled that situation pretty well. Although if I was in that position I would have simply let him go and live his life without my interference, but I guess that's just my overlycautious mind being afraid of friends watching eachothers backs. -
Are there still friendly Survivor?
Scribe (DayZ) replied to milch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
From my experience, for every survivor there are 1-2 bandits on most servers. The problem is survivors sometimes will panic/get scared/make mistakes and kill you just for moving the wrong direction or looking at them the wrong way, add that to the fact survivors avoid other people and bandits seek them out. I personally will always try to let others live if I can, whether that means I have my sights on you from under a pine 10 meters behind you and not take the shot or if we team up and loot a city together. I will always try. I'm an explorer, I'm a wanderer, I am a Survivor. P.S: Hmmm, that would make a good sig... -
Looking For Mature North American Players!
Scribe (DayZ) replied to joeaguirre0's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First off, I'm 17. I've recently been playing on a russian private hive server and ran into an organized group. They thankfully had someone who spoke some english and I ran with them for the rest of the day. It was the most fun I had in a long time. The best part was, even though I couldn't understand them, I could tell they had excellent communication and I somehow fit in the formation. We separated at the end of the day with a strange sense of comradery. I'm hoping to find something like that again, this time with people I can efficiently communicate with. Every thing you've set out as rules here makes sense and to be honest I'm suprised I didn't write them myself. You said you're looking for mature players, if I join you and you find out I'm not, I'll leave as soon as you ask me to. Steam: danielpast
