Hey! I was just playing DayZ with a friend (awesome game by the way) and I came up with an idea that I thought could maybe fit pretty well into the game, also make it more immersive, so I thought I would let you guys know, maybe you could think about implementing it if you think its a good idea :P So basically the idea is that when you create your character, rather than only allowing the player to choose their gender, they can also choose a certain trait. This trait is basically something which the character would've hypothetically had in the world before the apocalypse. For example, one trait could be the 'Tinkerer' trait, which basically allows the player to build a bicycle for example, given that the player has found the required parts. Another could be the 'Gunsmith' trait, which allows the player to create certain guns. At first I thought this could lead to balance issues, but then i realised it's already very difficult to scavenge, and so it should'nt be much of an issue. Also, what you can do is for example in order to make a bicycle you would need let's say 2 scrap metals and 2 tires, and then you can make a bike, which can only be used for transport but does no damage to others. On the other hand, in order to make a gun, you would need more parts but you get something more powerful in return. [Article Edited] Ok so im guessing the currency system i suggested was kind of shit...but like i said in one of my replies, a barter system would naturally work between players if the trait system was implemented, and u can gain one-another's trust rather than getting shot down all the time :S
