There are a few reasons that I play 24/7 daylight servers. I don't know why I feel I'm obliged to justify my opinion because someone else doesn't like my preference, but I will do it anyway. I play on 24/7 daytime servers because every server that had all of the options just right for me like death messages off, nameplates off are usually far outside of the eastern standard time zone. That being said, I'm forced to play at 7:00 - 8:00PM server time when ever I would like to play. So I made the switch to daylight servers. Secondly, I just can't see anything when it's night time. Even if it's only 7:00. Both brightness and gamma are on the default settings but still my screen is literally pitch black during night time. I've logged a lot of hours into DayZ and I've only found one pair of NVGs which was last week (on my daytime server). Even if I did have NVGs, I still don't feel the realism at all. I don't feel the realism when I know players are all jacking up their gamma and brightness. The NVGs give tunnel vision, so wearing them would put me at a disadvantage towards the rest of the players jacking their brightness settings up. The only viable way to play on night time servers is by wearing NVGs which is extremely rare I've found. No one uses the flashlight because no one wants to be a shining beacon during the night. Heat vision, which is also extremely rare is great both in night and daytime so I don't see how a 24/7 daytime server ruins heat vision. To answer a few of your questions, I do find 24/7 daytime servers to be more fun. Simply because everything is pitch black, I'm not able to see any detail on my screen besides the stars. Avoiding zombies is also a lot easier during the night. As if they weren't easier enough to avoid. Do I die less? No, actually. I die a lot more on my daytime server than I did during night on previous servers. Avoiding people is a lot easier during the night. I find daytime to be a harder challenge. The gameplay during the night is generally a lot more passive than it is in daytime as well. Daytime is just more exciting. It's too easy to stay safe in night servers. As for the realism part, I just don't see it. With the ability to negate all vision loss with raising the gamma and brightness levels, the realism doesn't exist. Even if players didn't have the option, it wouldn't be realistic. During the night of a zombie apocalypse, I wouldn't be running around looting, scavenging or looking for a fight. I'm pretty sure that people would be hid in a camp/base guarding/sleeping and/or getting ready for the next day. Really, the only realism is how your temperature drops during the night which can be instantly fixed with a heat-pack which is very common. I guess hanging around a fire to increase my temperature would be cool, but that's about it. Temperature loss is just a tiny piece of realism in the night, unless you're playing on a much colder map which would be just as realistic in daytime as it is night time. Claiming temperature loss to be a realistic, deciding factor for night time being interesting sounds like a desperate attempt to make night time sound more intriguing in your argument. In conclusion, I am personally unable to play the game during the night because the screen is pitch black. Say if my screen wasn't pitch black, the game is a lot easier during the night time. Night also promotes a lot more passive gameplay. I just started playing on 24/7 daytime servers and I've gotten into more fights than I have ever during my night time game hours. Both player fights and zombie fights. The realism is also not there for me. The lack of sight is easily negated with players being able to negate all sight loss with gamma and brightness. During the night time in a real zombie apocalypse, no one would be roaming outside unless they are committing suicide, so night time wouldn't be realistic even if gamma/brightness wasn't free to take advantage of. I don't see anything better about the current night time than day time. I would imagine that night time will be a lot better in general in the standalone. Until then, I will stick to daytime simply because night only has negative differences compared to daytime. TL;DR - Night time lacks the realism it should have, it's more passive, it's easier and my game is pitch black when I'm playing during anytime of the evening/night.

Pay 2 Play Whitelistings.... not on i think
Mphlol replied to Tubzy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is nothing wrong about charging money for a whitelisted server. Servers cost money to keep up. Servers also take a lot of time to manage. Although, if I'm going to be playing on a server that I pay to play on, it better be the best damn, dedicated server I can experience. -
I would not like a type of end game. This game is a open world survival with no story. It's should be strictly about survival. If there is going to be an end game, I would hope it's something related to the core game of survival. As of now, DayZ is a spawn-n-survive game. That is the way it should be.

You're hunting bandits? So you're a bandit?

Hello, I am looking for a private hive that is fairly popular (10-25 players average) that also has night disabled. That is all. Send me a message to my forum account or leave a reply below if you have or know of a server that meets this criteria. Thank you.

Hello there everyone, I just bought ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead off of Steam and have just finished downloading them both. I understand that I need to launch both games up to the menu before I think about playing DayZ. I launched ARMA 2 up to the menu with no issue, but when I try and launch Operation ArrowHead, the loading bar loads up and and error comes up saying... No entry 'bin/config.bin/CfgInGameUI/MPTable.shadow This error than dissapears after pressing okay and I get another error saying... Error compiling pixel shader PSSpecularAlpha:0 This isn't even an issue with getting DayZ to work, I can't even launch Operation Arrowhead from Steam to load up to the menu. If anyone has any solution to this, I would love to hear it. Thank You.

Hello, I've been playing DayZ as a lone wolf for about a month now, and I really want to experience the rich gameplay of being in a squad/group. This thread is going to be a brief application to any squad/group looking for new members or squads who are willing to take in new members. Gender: Male Name: Mphlol (Michael) Age: 16 Time zone: EST - UTC - 5 hours Total Time Playing DayZ: 1 month Mentality: I can be both a bandit, and a hero. It really depends on how I'm feeling that day. That being said, I am applying for any squad, bandit or hero type. I enjoy both play styles and I'm willing to adapt to any play style a squad may have so that I can fit in as best as possible. Basically saying, I'll do whatever. DayZ Knowledge: I know basic DayZ knowledge. I have a good feel for every gun in the game besides a few snipers, I know standard loot routes and survival skills, standard knowledge of zombies and how to react to them/avoid them. I don't know what else to add. I believe I know everything I need to know about DayZ to play the game well and work well with other players. Interests in a Squad: I prefer my squad to be a small, active, coordinated group of players. I'm not looking for a huge server-known clan, but rather a small, unknown group of well coordinated and experienced survivors/bandits/heroes. A group of 2, 3 or maybe even 4 people. I want to find a squad that enjoys the very flexible and high potential aspect of teamwork in DayZ. Squads that stick together, use tactics, and everything else that makes a very realistic and successful squad. This concludes my application to any squads/groups out there in Chernarus! I have and Ventrillo so voice communication will not be a problem for me. With a squad, I will be a lot more active than I am now. I am more than willing to take criticism, learn, and do my best to make sure everyone enjoys the game. If you wish to contact me in anyway, send me a message on my forum account. I will give my Skype name upon request and I will join any Ventrillo server upon request. If you and your squad use any other type of voice communication besides Skype and Ventrillo and you are interested in accepting me, I will be more than happy to download said program. Thank you for reading my application, I hope you and your squad take interest in me! ~ Mphlol

Yep, another "QQ I'm leaving and everyone should care" thread. We don't care, and you wasted your time with this thread. Please don't use the forum to vent your frustration about a currently un-fixable issue.

Did 1.7.2.6 break hunger/thirst/bleeding for anyone else in debug mode?
Mphlol replied to catface.jpg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Currently, the debug option for game UI display is bugged and does not correctly show the statuses of thirst, hunger, blood and temperature. -
Looking to trade my duped/hacked NVGs, AS50 and ghillie *****

*Sigh* Another " QQ I'm leaving, everyone should care" thread. We wont miss you and your horrible computer/Madagascar connection.

I am done, and so is most of my Clan due to hackers

Holy crap ANOTHER QQ thread. Seriously, no one on this forum cares about anything that you do. Don't use the forum to vent your anger over an un-fixable issue. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
Mphlol replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
No. The functionality of the barbed wire fencing is horrible. It's nothing but a cheesy and annoying item in the game. It only induces server hopping. I see no positive effect from having it in the game. -
Nothing. Stop wasting time on this mod and put as much time as you can into the standalone. All of the work put into the mod will be useless when the standalone comes out, so just forget this mod and pay more attention to what everyone wants and is looking forward too.

I'm seriously done.
Mphlol replied to roflcopter127@yahoo.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm sorry OP, but I don't think anyone gives a shit about your issues in DayZ. -

What's the point of playing a hardcore survival game when you just cheat your way through it?
-
Since when have bandits been an issue in this game? They are apart of the game. Bandits make this game.

I've been point-blank no-scoped multiple times by AS50 users.

The QQ in this thread is too strong!

Hello, I want to know if there is a list of any stable, dedicated and trusted servers somewhere on the internet. I don't really get mad when I get killed by hackers. Getting killed by a hacker just seems to be regular, everyday thing. I don't know if that's such a good thing. We've all been there, I know. Don't consider this a QQ thread. More of a "What do?" thread. I'm willing to try out many servers because currently, I don't have a home server anymore after the incident this morning. I'd like to hear from the community about what server you play on. At this point, I'm just not sure what to do. I find a server that a really like 1 day, than when I first log in the next morning, I get killed by a hacker. I server hop a lot, needless to say. I hop between at least 6 servers a day searching for the server that is just right. I don't mean server hopping as an exploit, but the more literal sense of searching for a home server. This morning I got killed by a hacker. I had an M4 CCO SD with lots of mags, a coyote backpack. You know, the works. When I got gunned down by an invisible, crazy rapid fire hacker in less than 2 seconds, I was stunned of course, but more so I was wondering what I was going to do about it. Sadly, I can't do anything about it, so I'm asking you, the community for any of your reccomended/home servers. I really like this game, so I don't want to stop playing it, but I feel like I'm almost obligated to quit. Thanks for reading!
